Get Only Important Emails when on the Go
2007-09-13 04:38:42
Many a times in out professional or personal lives we may need to travel from one place to another, during those times it may be hard to check or respond to emails. Most of the mobile phones today allow people to download and view the emails on their mobiles, but with roaming and data transfer costs it would turn out to be a expensive affair checking on emails which may include spam too, so why waste money? A free email account that allows POP access. Gmail is the best option here. A desktop / laptop computer which has Microsoft Outlook running. To begin, signup for a Gmail account and enable POP access in it. To enable pop you need to login and click on the Settings link, in the sub menu select the Forwarding and POP option, choose the enable pop for all mail radio button and click on save changes. The second part of this trick requires Microsoft Outlook that has all the necessary accounts set up to receive mails for your company or personal email address. You need to open Outlook ...
Get lower prices on tyres
2007-09-12 20:04:55
The OTR (off-the-road) tyre market is highly volatile and prices have increased dramatically over the years. There are several possible reasons for this but as I see it, this is directly related to the continued rising costs of raw materials. While the dealers and the manufacturers are blaming each other as well as the grey traders, for the price increase, the ones losing out are the customers. If you are looking for OTR tyres, visit BuyBigTires.com. Located in Southeastern North Carolina, BuyBigTires.com is an international company specialising in OTR and specialty tire market doing business on 5 continents. They help customers find lower prices on those tires. They are able to do this by getting rid of the middleman and bringing the products directly to the end users. A search of 4000R57 haul truck tires gave me two results. They have brand new tires from Michelin and Goodyear priced at $99000 and $105000 respectively. From:Auto Blog - Auto Lah ...
The Race For "The Place"
2007-09-12 19:30:48
No, not ‘The Race For The Chase”, but “The Race For The Place” as in 35th place. Everyone is talking about the 12 Chase Contenders, so I’m going to talk about the battle for the last guaranteed starting spot, 35th place. There is a battle heating up for that position as well, and who might the survivors be? Well let’s look at the contenders. The difference between 29th and 36th in the Owner’s Standings is only 287. I know you’re saying 278 is a ton of points, but Kurt Busch made almost as much as that up in less than 10 races to get into the Chase. Also, the difference between 35th and 38th is only 233 points. So, the gap between 28th and 38th is 510 points, but everyone is trying to stay at least 35th in the points to get the guaranteed starting spot for not just the remainder of the year but for the first 5 races of next year as well - unless NASCAR changes this format over Christmas. I’ll start my analysis with 28th and work my w ...
Opening of Coventry Island
2007-09-12 16:19:00
Coventry University opened their Coventry Island in Second Life today at the close of day one of the two-day Serious Virtual Worlds ‘07 conference organised by the Serious Games Institute.  Presentations from the conference were streamed in-world during the day, though this doesn’t appear to have been widely advertised in advance so the number of avatars turning up seemed quite low. The island opening itself was a nice mix of real and virtual, serious and fun.  Delegates both on the island and in the conference venue listened to short talks from Professor Madeleine Atkins, Vice Chancellor of Coventry University and  David Wortley and Professor Maggi Savin-Baden of the Serious Games Institute.  This was followed by a virtual tour of the island by Maggi (Second Wind), an impressive firework show and a small party. Virtual beer has always struck me as an odd idea, but I managed to both pour mine down my newly created "I’ve been sent to Covent ...
GRDDL to W3C Recommendation
2007-09-11 20:37:25
The W3C announced yesterday that the Gleaning Resource Descriptions from Dialects of Languages (GRDDL) specification has been given the status of W3C Recommendation. What GRDDL does is quite simple: it defines mechanisms for associating an XML document with an algorithm that can be used to extract RDF data from that document - typically an XSLT transformation which generates RDF/XML. And it allows such an association to be made not only for an individual document, but for a class of documents, based on the XML Namespace Name of the root XML element, or, for XHTML documents, on a metadata profile URI. Data created with microformats, for example, - as long as the source document uses a metadata profile, of course - becomes accessible to generic RDF processors without requiring them to have built-in knowledge of the idiosyncrasies of the different markup conventions. This capacity to define transformations for entire classes of documents, and to have those transformations associated with ...
Berkman: Peter Galison and “trading zones”
2007-09-11 17:44:51
Peter Galison is a pretty bright guy. He’s Joseph Pellegrino University Professor at Harvard, and a Macarthur Fellowship recipient, a scholar of the history of science. Not only has he done a great deal of work on the structure of scientific discovery - he’s got a forthcoming film about the NSA and secrecy which will show at Sundance this year. His talk at the Berkman Center begins with an outline of a revolution in scientific thinking. In the 1920s and 30s, the picture of scientific information was shaped by Positivist thinking. The Positivists were anti-theorists, and hoped to bring scientific discovery out of the realm of big theories and into the realm of the accumulation of data in “atomistic bits” connected by logic. In this model, theory is an epiphenomenon of observation - theories evolve as observations come in. This model wasn’t just a way of doing science - it was a worldview, a way of living, a weapon against hypernationalism, and Nazism. These ...

I Just Hope They Don’t Say Teresa Has Been Having a Relationship With One of Her Drivers!
2007-09-10 11:02:36
I thought it might happen, and it did, Joe Nemechek and Sterling Marlin have both filed suits against DEI and Ginn Racing (now merged together) for “alleged breaches of their contracts, which included a base salary of $1.2 million apiece” - Bob Pockrass scenedaily.com.Oh but wait, it gets better, Richard “Slugger” Labbe and Peter Sospenzo the former Crew Chiefs for Marlin and Nemechek are also suing - not for as much money, but enough. These are all separate suits and were filed Sept. 7 in Cabarrus County, N.C., but they do not specify how much they have been paid to date or what exactly the outstanding balance may be.“While we were named as a party to the lawsuit, we were never any party to those contracts; therefore, this is an obligation that Ginn will be addressing,” DEI Vice President John Story said in an e-mail to Scene Daily.I would have to agree with DEI on this one - they have no monetary responsibility to the former employees of Ginn Racing ...
Make Yahoo Messenger XP look like Yahoo Messenger Vista
2007-09-10 09:26:32
Windows Vista sports a cool look and so does Yahoo Messenger for Windows Vista. If you are bored with your old XP Yahoo Messenger look here is a simple way how you can make it look like the Yahoo Messenger in Windows Vista. Yahoo Messenger like many other softwares allows users to customize the look and feel to suit your needs. All you need handy is a custom theme and follow the instructions below. I would demonstrate below how to customize the theme to the Yahoo Messenger Windows Vista-ish Skin which is how Yahoo Messenger looks on Windows Vista. To start with the process, first you need to download the Vista messenger skin to your local PC. Choose anyone of those you like. Once you have downloaded the file unzip the contents into a folder, in my case I downloaded the files to C:Downloads and unzipped the folder to C:DownloadsYahooVistaSkin. Open a Windows Explorer window to C:Program FilesYahoo!SharedGraphics Copy the Vista Skin folder from C:DownloadsYahooVistaSkin to C:P ...

JBR Racing Toyotas Next Year - Duh! Didn’t See That Coming
2007-09-06 03:40:47
Quite possibly the worst kept secret over the last month or so is the fact that JGR would be racing Toyotas next year and despite the best efforts of the foot-in-mouth-red-headed-step-child Kyle Busch of letting the world know about JGR and Toyota, JGR was still adimate that they had not inked a deal with Toyota for next year - until today’s announcement that is.It is now official, Toyota will be the car of Joe Gibbs Racing and their drivers, Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, and Kyle Busch along with the JGR satellite team of Hall of Fame Racing with JJ Yeley as their driver. How do you feel about this? To be honest with you, I’m not as upset about it as I thought I would be. This move by JGR makes sense, but if I were Tony Stewart I would be driving even harder to win my third Championship right now because I don’t think he’ll be able to win one with Toyota for about 2 - 3 years. I could be wrong here, but even with heavy weight JGR backing Toyota there are still thi ...
Here Is What AT&T Should Do
2007-09-05 02:08:48
Evolution of a sponsorship (Cingular, AT&T, Court Injunction Blankness) Stick it to all of them by putting up an absolutely irresistible offer to sponsor the current “lame duck” sponsored NASCAR Busch Grand National Series. I wonder if NASCAR would be able to work out the sponsorship problems of the Jeff Burton driven RCR #31 car then. I bet so. After all, it is all about money and nothing else, right? “Never underestimate another man’s greed.” - Scarface. FC.o gets organized this summer
2007-08-31 08:25:32
As I mentioned in my earlier post, one of our goals for this summer was to “solidify our organizational structure”, by writing bylaws and electing new leadership. We have written a draft of the bylaws, and all FreeCulture.org chapter members should read the bylaws and comment on them. But don’t wait too long, because the clock is ticking! Here is the timeline for accomplishing these tasks, which will give us both official bylaws and a new board of directors by the start of the school year. * 2007-07-29 — Bylaws comment deadline / RC 2 release (voting opens). All comments on the proposed bylaws are due by Sunday, July 29th. That same day, we will have a meeting to discuss the changes and merge them into a second draft. Update: The bylaws RC2 meeting will take place at 5 pm EDT in #freeculture on irc.freenode.net (see this page for help with IRC) (see this page to convert to your time zone). Immediately upon completing the second draft of the bylaws, we wil ...
Gaycities.com - Guide to Gay-Friendly Establishments
2007-08-30 16:37:57
What it does Gaycities is pretty much exactly as its name implies — a site to find gay-friendly establishments, hotels, restaurants, neighborhoods in cities throughout the US. It also offers a social networking feature, with profiles and messaging, etc. A quick look at the GayCity-San Diego guide offered a quite appealing review for gays, which I was happy to read since it’s my hometown, as well as some reviews and recommendations of restaurants, hotels and places to visit. They have these city-specific gay guides for almost all the major US cities and a few in Canada, and the amount of recommendations is really based on the amount of user feedback. The site seems quite popular, and of course the home page highlights the largest gay events going on at this time. In their own words “Welcome to GayCities, your guide to gay bars, restaurants, hotels and events in cities across the US and Canada. With your help, GayCities can be the most comprehensive gay city guide so ...
