2007-12-05 21:34:00
There is now power in the Long Beach Peninsula Area... but it is still out in Astoria.
CENTRALIA, Wash. (AP) — Dodging tires, furniture and geysers of water, Bert Carver paddled a borrowed plastic boat through the murky streets of a defeated neighborhood. After surveying his wife's submerged car and the high-water mark at his first-floor windows, Carver glumly pointed out the "For Sale" sign ...

FUCK YOU DRUDGE!
2007-12-05 04:45:00
Well... finally we get our due on the DR.
I hate that son o. b. so much it is hard to believe that he could ignore the Northwest as much as he has.
All the while he pays attention to the Northeast and Midwest storm and mentions NOTHING of the Northwest storm.... and finally here we are... with 5 dead, both states declaring emergency (OR & WA), winds reaching 129, and flooding exceeding all ...

I-5 out... drive is trouble... yet scenic!
2007-12-04 20:32:00
The HUMONGOUS storm which blasted the Northwest has had quite an impact with floods and general aftermath. Traffic on the main NW artery Interstate 5 was diverted through Yakima because flooding on 5 was so bad. My advice is if you have to take another route - SLOW DOWN and enjoy the scenery!
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Downed trees, mudslide-blocked roads and widespread power outages plagued the ...

Portland a great place for Walkers!
2007-12-04 20:18:00
Of course PDX is great for walkers. Just expect rain in November, thats for sure. Im actually surprised how many people don't care for umbrellas too around here.
But apparently San Fran is slightly more walkable - and the SFist is holding that in our faces! San Fran came in as #3. Well, you dont touch our biking or public transit San Fran! But no need to rub that one in. But we were ...

Many without power... more help en route...
2007-12-04 20:12:00
I hope we dont see people trying to heat their homes with charcoal grills and such inside their houses during these next cold nights!
It could be quite awhile before the lights go back on in Clatsop County. "Highway 30 is open and crews are getting through, but we're probably looking at Thursday before there's much power on," said Tom Gauntt, a spokesman for Pacific Power, this morning.
Gauntt ...

Drudge was being an asshole to the Northwest...
2007-12-04 02:05:00
As much as I detest Matt Drudge and his incredible bias - I was shocked to see how long it took him to even acknowledge the damage which has happened up here in the NW.
Finally a little blip has appeared on the DR.
He basically had a panic attack over the Northeast and Midwest storm and still there was nothing about the Northwest.
I think he has a bias against the NW because it isnt part ...

2007-12-04 01:32:00
Well, I guess we can let this one slide all things considered. But for the love of god get a generator! No just kidding. Hope they get the juice flowing back to Astoria asap.
The Daily Astorian newspaper was unable to publish a print edition on Monday because of a power outage affecting 23,000 customers in Clatsop County caused by Sunday's severe windstorm.
It was only the second time the ...

Seattle area may break one-day rainfall record...
2007-12-03 22:02:00
For Seattle... that is a big deal. Anywhere else that would be traumatizing.
The heavy rainfall that continues to pound the region today could break the one-day rainfall record, last set four years ago. "We're going to come close; it looks good to break it," said Jay Albrecht, a forecaster for the National Weather Service. "It's raining one-quarter inch an hour." The last record was 5.02 ...
