Make your readers happy. How to write an excellent list.
2008-02-10 20:50:26
A long list is a burden to both the author and the reader. We’ve all seen these lists before, the ones that scroll for seconds and are time consuming to browse. It’s great to know 100 people can provide tips on how to “improve your CSS skills,” but linking to all 100 people in your post is not helpful.
The goal of suggesting instructional links about a particular topic is to save your reader time. Below is a simple list of tips for producing high quality lists that will keep your readers waiting for the next one.
1. Write a list based on sites you have visited and used before
How can you recommend a site you never spent time using? My readers and I know you didn’t visit all those sites, but if you did, let us ask you one question. How many weeks did you spend researching where to learn before you actually started to learn? We’re using the Internet, it doesn’t take weeks to find quality sources to learn from nor should it take more than just a c ...

What to Expect When IPv6 Replaces IPv4
2008-02-09 05:56:51
The Internet became available to the public in 1969, the world population was approx 3.6 billion people and the creators had little idea of what to expect. A major decision ruled the use of IPv4 to assign 32-bit IP addresses to connected devices. It was an appropriate decision at the time, however, the world population is now approx 6.6 billion people and the list of compatible devices continues to expand. The number of available IPv4 addresses is approaching zero and the total number of devices on the network is approaching more than 4 billion. IPv6 is slowly integrating into the existing network. For more details, visit IPv4 address exhaustion.
The table below details the changes that will be made upon upgrading to IPv6 from IPv4. Most important is the change in address space. IPv4 is 32-bit and has an assigning capacity of 2^32 whereas IPv6 is 128-bit and has an assigning capacity of 2^128
A Web ruled by content will eventually become a Web ruled by telemetry, according to Greg ...

Oh, You Want to Learn WordPress? No Problem!
2008-02-07 23:50:40
Learning WordPress is simple, once you know where to locate the most helpful tutorials, tips, and tricks. In my quest to learn WordPress, which is an ongoing mission of mine, I find myself repeatedly visiting the same professors.
My advice for you is to spend a fair share of time browsing the web to find content that aligns with your own learning style. Ask yourself, “Am I a watcher or a reader?” What I mean is that you have options and you should exploit the one that suits you best.
Top Two Places to Learn WordPress
is a website and blog devoted to WordPress Tutorials and Web Marketing Tutorials produced by Mark McLaren and McBuzz Communications LLC.
The greatest advantage of Business Blogging 101 is that lessons are available in both written and video format. In my experiences, fewer mistakes are made when I watch a tutorial. When I am searching for an answer to a WordPress related question, I first check the Business Blogging 101 Channel on YouTube. Below is an example ...

A Social Search Engine Much Like An Organism
2008-02-07 08:18:03
Oddflower is an innovative social search engine that operates under self-organizing principles to create a dynamic environment. The network topology of Oddflower changes in response to the methods for and quantities of information exchange between all nodes at all times. Oddflower is a social search engine that never stops evolving, much like an organism.
Memes represent individual packets of information that transfer throughout the Oddflower population and maintain the ability to alter form and meaning at all points of exchange. This fundamental element creates news, which in turn generates clusters of users and topics. As clusters shift and the network evolves, the people and information found under “My People” and “My Inbox” change.
At the micro level, affinity is the force of attraction between atoms acting on the same molecule. At the macro level, affinity is the force of attraction between human beings acting on the same idea. Affinity is used to quanti ...
