Your students in Japan will always be an enigma to you. Most students sit quietly in the cubicle trying not to make eye contact with you or any of the other students for fear they'll have to say something. They have paid thousands of pounds to come to a conversation school, but they will go to great lengths to say nothing to you or anyone. They will sit, four people in a small subicle, in silence for the 15 minutes before the lesson, take every precaution against speaking during the lesson then go home a few thousand yen lighter. Work. Sleep. Repeat. If you take this personally you become angry. If you see the funny side it's just draining. You finish work at 9.30, the only thing open is the izakaya. Bladdered. Drink. Karaoke. We arrived at kaitaku no mura period near Sapporo to enjoy some historical buildings. Immediately after arriving we thought bollocks to this and decided to go sledding and throw snowballs.In this video Autumn and John have a shambolic snow fight which I think is much funnier in reverse.
