Who Should Pay on the First Date?
2007-10-31 12:35:18
For decades this question has gone unanswered and it’s time we settle the issue. I’d like to know and I know you, the reader and dater, want to know too. Who should pay for the first date? For me, this inquiry was recently brought up after a friend and I discussed an awkward date with a very cheap man. You actually know part of this “missed connection” story because I told it in my “Women Picking Up Men, It’s a Beautiful Thing” post. The good news is that my friend did go on a date with the cute boy from Craigslist, but the bad news is that he was weird about the bill. So weird, in fact, that she won’t go out with him again. The story goes like this: At the end of the date she went for her credit card expecting him to say, “No, no. I got it.” When he didn’t say anything she was still OK with paying half because in her mind that was perfectly fair anyway. But things got weird when he started adding up what was hers (1 be ...
Padded Underwear and Why I Wish Christmas Was Early This Year
2007-10-30 22:39:55
There are some things that I just refuse to spend money on and those are the things that go on my Christmas list. This year I wish Christmas was earlier because I’m in a wedding very soon and could use some extra padding on the rear. This might be better than the padded bra. ...
Reasons to Date Online: I’m Bored
2007-10-28 21:57:29
Boredom. It’s the perfect reason to meet new people. Dating is an opportunity to try that new Moroccan restaurant, see that stupid kung fu movie none of your friends will go see, or walk through the latest exhibit at the art museum. It’s a reason to do the things you don’t want to do on your own. Embrace it. Singlesnet.com is a great site that should not be overlooked. Try it and follow the tips I mention in the DatingTales online dating guide. ...

2007-10-25 22:53:19
What is my “type”? Obviously, he is smart, funny, and cute. But who doesn’t have this type? Seems that for those of us that are seriously looking for a mate, then we should dig deep and determine what it is that will make us happy long term. These are some suggestions to get you there. Personality tests. Insight into what makes you tick can be found in any one of dozens of personality tests available. An online search will turn up tests like Myers-Briggs that are geared toward career options, but will certainly help you analyze yourself and what you need to be happy in a relationship too. Make a pros/cons list of all your ex-boyfriends or ex-girlfriends. This isn’t an exercise in self-destruction. You shouldn’t try to re-live all your past traumas, but it is important to learn from your experiences. First Date Story as Told on Jay Leno
2007-10-22 20:55:31
This has been circulating around the internet and because it’s quite hilarious, I though I’d share. Jay Leno went into the audience to find the most embarrassing first date that a woman ever had. He found a woman with this story… She said it was midwinter. Snowing and quite cold. And the guy had taken her skiing in the mountains outside Salt Lake City, Utah, for a day skiing. No overnights. They were strangers, after all, and truly had never met before. The outing was fun but relatively uneventful until they were headed home late that afternoon. They were driving back down the mountain, when she gradually began to realize that she should not have had that extra latte. They were about an hour away from anywhere with a rest room and in the middle of nowhere! Her companion suggested she try to hold it, which she did for a while. Unfortunately, because of the heavy snow and slow going, there came a point where she told him that he had better stop and let her go beside th ...

Sex with Robots is Inevitable
2007-10-19 08:27:43
Or, at least that’s what this guy says: “My forecast is that around 2050, the state of Massachusetts will be the first jurisdiction to legalize marriages with robots,” artificial intelligence researcher David Levy at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands told LiveScience. I found this article on MSNBC.com and I’m just overwhelmed by it. Robots, really? I suppose the robot wouldn’t be like the robot of yore. Maybe the robots would be so lifelike you couldn’t tell the difference. But does that make it ok? According to this Levy guy it absolutely is, and maybe to all the male-haters or female-haters out there, it’d be a good thing. I mean, we’ve all looked for the off switch on our partner from time to time, so I see the benefit. However, there is something to be said for the human connection and genuine experiences. I feel the same way about frozen dinners. Why eat the pre-packaged, perservative-filled chicken filet when you ca ...

Eat, Pray, Love - My New Favorite
2007-10-16 21:22:00
I’m about finished with the book Eat, Pray, Love and am so in love with this book that I have to share. I know most of you have probably read it too considering it is a best seller and all. If you haven’t read it, then I highly recommend it. It’s an excellent book about letting go of love and finding love. In particular, finding love for yourself. Even if you aren’t a yogi or a romantic, I think you’ll find value in what the author, Elizabeth Gilbert, has to say. ...

Tattoo Removal for a Loved One
2007-10-13 14:12:59
My friend Jenny won a radio contest for “worst tattoo” and received free tattoo removals from Denver company, Ink-B-Gone. The tale of this tattoo is one of a crush, love, and, of course, a really bad tattoo. You’ve probably noticed in the picture that it looks like flames are coming out of her ass. You’ve probably also noticed the Chinese symbol in the center of the tattoo that she “thinks” means courage. You’ve probably also noticed that Jenny is a small woman and this enormous tattoo has taken over her back and rear end. The only reason the tattoo is so big is because of the influence of a cute tattoo artist who also proved himself to be a good salesman. He introduced Jenny to the design, and she, with twitterpation, eagerly agreed to the concept. Now, 10 years later she’s wishing she hadn’t. Jenny has spent more time in the last 10 years shopping for clothes that will cover the tat and explaining to boyfriends the logic of her 18 ...
