You Didn't "See" Me.

Becoming entirely ready."We... get a good look at what these defects are doing to our lives. We begin to long for freedom from these defects."Basic Text, p.33Becoming entirely ready to have our defects of character removed can be a long process, often taking place over the course of a lifetime. Our state of readiness grows in direct proportion to our awareness of these defects and the destruction they cause. We may have trouble seeing the devastation our defects are inflicting on our lives and the lives of those around us. If this is the case, we would do well to ask our Higher Power to reveal those flaws which stand in the way of our progress. As we let go of our shortcomings and find their influence waning, we'll notice that a loving God replaces those defects with quality attributes. Where we were fearful, we find courage. Where we were selfish, we find generosity. Our delusions about ourselves will disappear to be replaced by self-honesty and self-acceptance.Yes, becoming entirely r ...

Just For Today

Teachable" We have learned that it is okay to not know all the answers, for then we are teachable and can learn to live our new life successfully."Basic Text, p. 93In a way, addiction is a great teacher. And if addiction teaches us nothing else, it will teach us humility. We hear it said that it took our very best thinking to get to NA. Now that we're here, we're here to learn. The NA Fellowship is a wonderful learning environment for the recovering addict. We aren't made to feel stupid at meetings. Instead, we find others who've been exactly where we've been and who've found all the answers, then listen as others share what's worked for them.As a recovering addicts and as human beings, we have much to learn. Other addicts - and other human beings - have much to teach us about what works and what doesn't. As long as we remain teachable, we can take advantage of the experience of others.Just for today: I shall admit that I don't have all the answers. I shall look and listen to t ...

Hello my friends. Long time no see. Hope you're in the best of health. As for me, what can I say. I wish I could prolong my vacation days with my beloved wife till next week.Come nearer. I got something important to tell you all. (I'm looking left and right. Up above and below.) Please don't tell her. (Whispering...) I couldn't get enough of my sweet wife. Do you think another honey-moon is advisable in the very near future? Maybe I shall take her to one of the exotic islands, say like Pulau Tioman. I'm sure my darling wife would like to spend some quality time with dear husband. What do you think?Ok, seriously. As you can see on my right sidebar, I have sign up with Advertlets, a Malaysian advertising network.Advertisers make their message count. Bloggers make money doing what they love. It all makes sense on Advertlets. com Asia's Better Blog Advertising Network. So far, this blog has been monetize mostly by AdSense. I'm trying to make more money by doing what I like most, tha ...

Shocked!
2007-04-18 12:32:00
Not long ago, I decided to join a local popular forum. It is my attempt to give back just a portion of all the blessings I have received. I want others to hear my story and have the courage to keep trying. But then the stigma of being an addict is too much for them to accept. Two threads in particular attracted my attention. In one of them, one of the moderators were asking a question about HTML. There was a blog he like and wanna do it on his own blog. After experimenting a bit, I manage to answer the question and I was rewarded for my effort. I thank him in my PM (private message). It feel great when you're acknowledged for your effort. I was told when I was studying TC, (therapeutic community) compensation is valid. But that's after personal growth before vested status.I told him whenever I saw an interesting layout on someone blog, I would clicked view source to study the HTML how did they do it and that was how I did it to answer his question. Then someone else said about the mor ...

Gratitude
2007-04-13 23:29:00
Gratitude changed my life, and since today I got back my beloved PC even though it does not function up to par, I'm still grateful. Since lightning struck down and damaged my hard disk, I've been trying very hard to get back all the important and some have sentimental valued emails/info, I tried hacking it on my own. I read a post by one of our Recovery Friends, was it Lash505 or Scott W I don't seem to remember. But the post is about how she/he recovered back his important photo. I wish to find out how does he/she do it.I think I've to do a bit of upgrading on my PC. Right now I'm using a the latest toys available and using a genuine hard/softwares which will please Mr. Bill Gates if ever he find out about my PC. I know I've been contributing to Gates's fortunes and I was satisfied with it performance before. But after getting a new hard-disk with more memory, it's getting very slow (but faster than a dial-up version) and decided to become Oreo's biscuit. One minute it here a ...

Meditations For The Heart
2007-04-11 18:09:00
Sometimes even in recovery I just get in a bad mood. I don't even need a reason for this to happen. It just seems like I got out of bed on the wrong side that morning. Even my morning meditation doesn't seem to get me back on track. Then I rush off, headlong into my day with my bad mood. These are the times when I am most likely to feel like it just isn't working. I get frustrated easily. I get crabby and irritable. Someone can look at me the wrong way or say the wrong thing to me, and I am off to the races. I can take it personally and become judgmental or even lash out in a manner that does not show any respect for the other person.Sometimes by mid-morning or early afternoon I realize that I am having a bad day. At the end of my day I look back and regret how I behaved, and I don't like what I see. This is where Step Ten becomes so important for my recovery. I look back over my day and can honestly see that most if not all of my difficulty has to do with my attitude and my behavi ...

Methadone Petition
2007-03-20 08:33:00
A couple of days ago an old lady with her youngest son came to see me. I was skeptical at first and couldn't believed it was me she wanna see. Well, after a polite greeting I invited her into my living room. Frankly, I don't know what to do. Should I served her drink or what, I just don't know? You see, it's only three of us living in this big house. My dear wife is working during the weekdays and that leave two of us holding the fort.My mother-in-law is not well, being confined on her wheel chair most of the time. So, that leave me doing the household chores. I don't mind at all. After all my beloved wife is working hard for the money, I don't mind at all to be the house-husband! A decision we took after a long deliberation who gonna take care of mother-in-law? After all, I have my own money income. I don't have to open and rent an office space in town. It's more logical, time and money well spent if I opened my own office at home!OK, back to the old lady. It's our custom to ...

A Little Bit About Me
2007-03-17 09:26:00
I'm sorry for the commotion I caused on my last post. It has never been my intention to set a bad, bad example, especially to my fellow recovery friends. I'm going to tell a little bit about myself. Things that even my friends over here don't know about. Before I proceed any further, I would like to thank Dr. Linda Freedman, PhD who invited to submit a story about alcohol and relationships to this blog carnival she is hosting on March 30, 2007. I am honoured to be invited and I dedicated this post to her.I was born forty seven years ago, on February 22nd, 1960. February 22nd is also my beloved Mum's birthday. That's why each year my dear, dear sisters will held a grand birthday gathering, Malaysian style for both of us as you can see in the pics here and here.I was born in a little peaceful town Lenggeng in the state of Negeri Sembilan. The house my parent are staying now used to be my Grand Ma's resident. After her death (God bless her soul) my parent took over the house. It was ...

Better Man
2007-03-14 00:56:00
While Googling and Yahooing for an article for this post, I came across this article written by a dynamic duo, Azura Abas and David Yeow. Both of them are reporters with New Straits Times, our daily English newspaper. If you still remember, this the same newspaper that got involved in a court case with some blogger. To satisfy your curiosity, you can read about it here and here. Please, this not a political blog. I don't give a damn about it but I don't wanna get sue either!I'm walking on a thin line here, so please no comment about politic, religion or anything that can harm you. Especially me, an addict, a nobody, the pariah, the scum of the earth. So think before you leave a comment or two. I'm borrowing Jeff Ooi disclaimer. Read it here and here.Updates: I'm not setting an example here. I am not an addict, a nobody, the pariah or the scum of the earth, anymore. I know it is expected of me but I am not gonna demean myself anymore! Anybody have any audio problem with the 'Bette ...

Sultans Of Swing
2007-02-21 05:49:00
Just got back from my short vacations with dear wife. Can't wait to get home but I still drive between the law. Don't wanna receive any unwelcome tickets for speeding. As we say in NA, Speed Kills! The first thing I do after reaching home is to open up my beloved computer, leaving my sweet wife to unpacked the baggages. For that I received a loving smirked from her. Thank you, my sweetheart for ...
