Dark Chocolate Part Of A Vegetarian Lifestyle
2007-11-15 16:26:00
Should dark chocolate be part of a vegetarian of vegan lifestyle? Sure why not?A report in the journal of the American medical association from 2003 says that dark chocolate indeed does offer antioxidants that help lower blood pressure in those with moderate high blood pressure. And of course, the findings show that milk interferes with the absorption of those antioxidants (as it does with all nutrition of course), so avoid chocolate with milk in it. Actually, just plain avoid milk ok?In a report in a 2003 copy of nature, Mauro Serafini, PhD saysOur findings indicate that milk may interfere with the absorption of antioxidants from chocolate ... and may therefore negate the potential health benefits that can be derived from eating moderate amounts of dark chocolate. So eating chocolate isn’t so bad for us. Choose dark chocolate over milk chocolate and choose a good Cabernet Sauvignon to go with it.My Advice, just as you should choose the the best red wine, choose the best dark chocol ...

Benefits Of Being Vegetarian Number 2
2007-11-14 16:24:00
This week is the Vegetarian Challenge week, I'm doing a series of Benefits Of Being Vegetarian.Number 2 on my list:You're The Freak At The Party Normally something you would want to avoid, in this case, your eating habits and choice of food groups (or lack of food groups) is always reason for starting a conversation.Kinda shy? Want to meet that hot chick or guy over by the snack table? Easy, just go up and say "I'm vegetarian - what kind of vegetables do they have here?"One of two things will occur. You'll either get a smile from him or her or suddenly become outcast and kicked out of the party.Either way, you started a conversation and are getting a lot of attention. Now imagine a party with Carrie Underwood at that same snack table. Imagine saying the same thing again "I'm vegetarian - what kind of vegetables do they have here?" and you'll probably get a different response. Carrie was voted sexiest vegetarian in 2005 and again this year 2007. She may very well say to ...
How Important Is Self Confidence?
2007-11-14 11:11:00
By Zach Bashoreauthor of No BS Bodybuilding aka Bodybuilding for the Average JoeHaving high self-confidence is important because it gives you the mind set that what you are doing is the right way and nobody's negative opinion about you can change that. Most high levels of self confidence comes from past successes and also the ability to believe in oneself. In order to perform at your highest potential, high self confidence must be in place.Every successful person has a plan, a plan to become better at whatever they do in the future. That is where high self-confidence comes in handy. You don't want to start the day not knowing what you want out of it. Instead, you should be controlling every minute, using that time as a means for improvement. There is a downside to being successful and that is being expected to perform at that same great level at all times. This takes maturity on your part but you should use this as motivation. When great things are expected from you, expect more respe ...

My 90 Percent Vegetarian Diet
2007-11-13 21:05:00
I recently got a reply to one of my posts from a reader who was so happy to have me back as a vegetarian and expressing her sadness at having lost me a few years ago (lost to vegetarianism). I laughed, in a good way. It’s nice to have a great group of people of like mind making a conscious decision about their health and the effect on our planet.I’m not 100% vegetarian and I don’t promote 100% vegetarian though.I should be clear that I’m not against being vegetarian either. I’m not in a place anymore to be completely against animal protein any more but rather feel that it’s all about eating healthy and that eating being easy and effortless. What I do promote and you’ll be hearing about more and more is about a 90% - 10% vegetarian – meat based diet. I still don’t have a name for it really and it’s not 90% vegetarian per day, its more in line with cave man eating, that is 5 to 7 days ore more of vegetarian / vegan meals followed by a couple of days of a diet plenti ...

What To Do With Leftover Halloween Candy
2007-11-01 19:22:00
Halloween is over and you might have some leftover candy lying around. Most other diet, nutrition or weight loss blogs would discuss throwing the candy out or some other method of teaching you to be careful about not going off the deep end and eating it all.I found another solution that gets rid of your candy without actually throwing it out.Consider it the Eco-Friendly option of Halloween Candy Giveaway. Most cities have programs for inner city people helping them protect them against the transmission of HIV or other shared needle related disease. As it turns out, during withdrawal, candy is used to help. Donated treats will be provided to individuals dealing with withdrawal symptomsDonating your candy to one such outreach program in your city is a great way to get the candy out of your house and give back to your inner city.In Edmonton, one such program is offered by Street WorksMake a difference by donating your leftover Halloween treats to Streetworks. All variety of treats will ...
Preventing Cancer
2007-11-01 18:34:00
Preventing cancer has become big business, at least for the fund raisers anyway. I joined Facebook this spring and have been invited to various breast cancer causes, been asked to donate money for Run For The Cure cancer awareness marathons by at least two friends and in the past month found out a friend has cancer, a cousin’s husband has cancer and another friend was rushed into the hospital for testing on his Thyroid (it was benign).I don’t support the fund raisers, not ever, I feel very strongly against supporting the fund raisers who have no intention of providing a solution and who's only interest is in raising money. What I will do is support the "Make a Wish Foundation" which provides wishes for terminally ill children.I’m not sure if you’re aware or not, but there are known ways to prevent cancer and reverse cancer, but there’s more money in keeping us sick, so you won’t really hear too much about it.I have a friend who provided a way to end cravings for smoking ...
