I'm thrilled right now. I just got off the phone with Peter Basich of the NYCDOT, who oversees the filming and photography of the city's bridges. He returned my call graciously and we, then, had a very good conversation in which I told him about my Harlem River bridges project to which he responded favorably and is willing to help in anyway possible. In order to get a MOFTB permit for still photography, I must obtain a permit from the NYCDOT first.Mr. Basich told me to give his office a week's notice of any planned photography of a specific bridge. First, his office will make sure there's no work being done on that bridge at the time/date requested, and then, his office will work to process my approval. Afterwards, I'll need to apply online for a MOFTB still photography permit showing approval from the NYCDOT and then, I should hopefully get the city permit. So, each time I plan to go out for a shoot of any of the bridges I must follow through with this process for official au ...

5 months out
2008-01-21 11:29:00
Today, day +153, marks five months since my transplant on August 21st. So far, so good. As instructed, I reduced my Sirolimus dosage from .35mL to .3mL this morning.I finished Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End a couple of days ago. Now, I'm reading Ray Bradbury's classic, Fahrenheit 451.I had hoped to go out this morning to explore some of the unfamiliar parts of Highbridge Park in Manhattan whereupon I may be able to find some good vantage points from where to photograph the Harlem River and the neighboring bridges. For weeks, I've looked at photographs from Highbridge Park taken by other local photographers on Flickr, but I just couldn't figure out where exactly in this large park they had snapped some of their impressive shots. After IMing a few of my Flickr buddies and doing a bit of research using Google Earth, I think I know now where these interesting vantage points are located. So, that's where I was planning to check out this morning but with the temperature feel ...

It's sad how someone with his amazing gift fell and became so racist and hateful. The first video below shows only the first-half of the Jeremy Schapp report. For the rest of the report, watch the second video. ...

king kong ain't got shit on me!
2008-01-15 17:16:00
This morning at about 10:30 I was at Sloan for my monthly aerosolized pentamidine treatment. While receiving the treatment, which is given to prevent Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP), I wished that I had asked the technician administering it to snap a few photographs of me (my camera was right there in my bag) inhaling and exhaling through the pulmonary apparatus. I don't know how many of you have actually seen what this apparatus looks like. So, next month I will try to remember to ask for a few photographs.Afterwards, I relaxed in a chair on the first floor waiting area reading for about a little less than two-hours before my 1PM appointment with Dr. Levine, a psychiatrist specializing in bone marrow transplant patients, at the 54th Street satellite location. The last time I saw him was when I was an inpatient during the transplantation process back in September. It was good to catch up a bit.We talked briefly about my Harlem River project, which has turned into a great out ...

day +145
2008-01-13 20:20:00
I just finished watching the Giants' upset over the Cowboys. I missed most of the first-half as I was out taking long exposure shots on the 145th Street Bridge, but I got back in time to see the rest of what turned out to be quite a good game. Next up: the Packers in the NFC Championship. Go G-Men!!!Yep, that's me on day +145. Actually, that's me on day +144 as I took this photo last night but I don't think my appearance changed much within 24 hours. My hair continues to fill in and its texture is still very soft like baby hair. I like it though. As it is now, it has a lot more movement than what my hair used to be. If it was significantly longer, I might even have been able to make it look like the hair of one of those troll dolls. The rashes on my shoulders and chest remain but are better. They don't itch and it looks as if they are continuing to dissipate. Also, I haven't experienced the pressure in my chest and abdomen that I described in the weeks leading up to my rec ...
