Moving your eyes horizontally, from side-to-side, for about 30 seconds may be all it takes to give your memory a boost, according to researchers from Manchester Metropolitan University in England.After hearing a list of words, the study found that those who moved their eyes side-to-side for 30 seconds correctly remembered more than 10 percent more words, and falsely recognized about 15 percent fewer ?lure? words, compared to those who moved their eyes up and down or did nothing.Why would moving your eyes influence your memory? I have received dozens of requests to promote a response to the FDA Guidance for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products issued by the FDA in February 2007. There have also been many people posting about this on Vital Votes. Pfizer is planning to launch a new TV commercial for its arthritis painkiller Celebrex. There have been no Celebrex commercials for more than two years because of safety concerns about drugs in its class.The TV commercial is two and a half minutes long -- five times as long as most TV ads. Pfizer also took the unusual tactic of buying all the commercial time on ABC News' World News Tonight program two Mondays in a row.Pfizer says the unusual length of the commercial is needed to dispel any confusion about the drug. In the first study to explore the effects of food and beverages on the taste of cigarettes, 209 smokers were asked to name items that worsen or enhance cigarettes' taste.Smokers reported that drinking milk or water, or eating fruits and vegetables, worsened the taste of cigarettes. On the other hand, alcohol, coffee and meat enhanced the taste of cigarettes. These findings could lead to a diet that makes it easier to quit smoking.Nineteen percent of the smokers said that dairy products worsen the taste of cigarettes, 16 percent said that fruits and vegetables did so, and 14 percent reported the same effect for water and juice.
