Fibromyalgia and your thoughts about it
2007-11-29 16:53:00
Once again, it keeps coming back to what's going on in your mind and how thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions affect health and well-being.I have no association with the author of the following article, but the story reflects how true the previous statement can be so I'm reprinting it here. How can the power of the mind cause you to get sick and die? Have you heard the story about the man who thought he died of abdominal cancer? A man who we will call Jack; aged 43 years had a rather large lump on his abdomen and sought the advice of his doctor. The doctor could not easily explain it, thinking it could be a hernia or a bowel obstruction of sorts, had the man undergo a few tests. (As they do). Jacks lump grew a little more and he was very uncomfortable. He was worried it could be cancer. After a week of waiting for his results he grew restless and called his doctor to ask if the results from his tests were in yet. Now it transpired that the doctor was very busy but the receptionist confir ...

Giving Thanks
2007-11-22 06:19:00
Thanks to James O'Dea for this beautifully worded message! Happy Thanksgiving!" Your body loves gratitude! Not a superficial "oh gee, thanks" but a deep, heart-connected appreciation that carries love and acceptance from a place of higher consciousness and well-being. Your body loves it because it washes away the biochemistry of stress and insufficiency and replaces it with the alchemy of flow and emotional warmth. The resonance from gratefulness warms both the giver and receiver; it generates a field of appreciation sometimes referred to as limbic resonance. In the field of appreciation, we create a healing and reviving antidote to psycho-toxins such as "I don’t have time," "I don’t have enough," or "I am drained." Each trickle of gratitude blesses us with its affirmation that we have all we need in consciousness itself to gather our strength and honor life. Each stream of gratitude clears out the corrosive toxins of stress and anxiety in your body and becomes a gift to yourself ...
Fibromyalgia and the nervous system
2007-11-21 06:39:00
It's still a little bit unusual to find traditional M.D.'s recommending chiropractic care. And some research being done in rheumatology which shows that fibromyalgia is group of symptoms related to "sympathetic hyperactivity" (explained below) hasn't yet led to widespread recommendation of chiropractic care as a step in moving towards resolving the physical component of this dis-ease. However, read below, and see how I believe they are directly connected.Part 1: A research study"We studied a group of patients with fibromyalgia and compared them with healthy controls. By means of portable recorders, we registered the subjects' heartbeat for 24 hours while they followed their routine daily activities. We found that patients with fibromyalgia have relentless hyperactivity of the sympathetic nervous system. This abnormality was also evident during sleeping hours. In a different study, we subjected patients with fibromyalgia to a simple stress test (to stand up). We observed a paradoxic ...

After a serious accident when he was twenty-three years old, he was left with a multiple-fractured vertebrae. Amazed by the power of the human mind, he set out to learn more about the mind-body connection and the potential of the brain. The human brain is neuro-plastic: it can change its synaptic wiring by learning information and by recording experiences. This plasticity allows us to evolve our actions and modify our behaviour so that we are successful. The best way to retain this neuro-plasticity is to learn new things and make new memories, thus causing the brain to fire in new patterns and combinations. To change your mindset, you must make new neurons in your brain by repeating a thought or action over and over again until it becomes so effortless, it’s subliminal."Read more hereHow to use "The Secret" to create wellness. Fibromyalgia and Motivation

Pain is a symptom, a message that something requires attention. One approach to dealing with pain is to mask it, temporarily kill it as best as possible. This method can actually make the physical body more tense by only dealing with symptoms rather than causes. Chronic illness by definition is when something has gone so far that the symptoms can no longer be turned off.Another tactic is to focus on the pain, analyze and report on it's status, seeking out support from others who know what it feels like. Sometimes there are reasons for choosing suffering. If one perhaps believes that the label "psychosomatic" means "you’re faking", one might subconsciously turn up the volume on suffering in an effort to prove your health problems are real. This can lead to feeling included, listened to, and loved in a support group. Suffering can even provide focus in a life that otherwise lacks interest or meaning. Of course one wouldn't consciously choose this, but all of us want to live a life th ...
Fibromyalgia and Taking Action

"The possibilities of thought training are infinite, its consequence eternal, and yet few take the pains to direct their thinking into channels that will do them good, but instead leave all to chance." Orison Swett Marden"Once you develop to the point where you can observe your thinking process, rather than being it, you can direct your mind, and in doing so begin to take charge of your life." Bill Harris"There is a big difference between just thinking "I want a big car" and taking an appropriate action to do something about it. The really big secret is not the LOA(Law of Attraction), it is the action that people who realize their purpose take in their lives." Fred Alan Wolf"I am a kind of paranoiac in reverse. I suspect people of plotting to make me happy." J. D. SalingerOne thing I discovered during my healing journey is that it didn't matter what steps I took to heal until I addressed my subconscious limiting beliefs. I use the law of attraction, set and accomplish realistic goals, ...

What worked for me, part III
2007-11-04 06:13:00
Part IV here Good morning! In my series "What worked for me", the previous 2 posts have been about healing my mind. You can review them here and here. I used a mind-body-spirit three pronged approach to healing, and today I'll write about how I healed my physical body. Since I was first "diagnosed" at the age of 20, I went through a series of traditional doctors, one who was over 1,000 miles away from home. I scoured and read everything I could and "tried" every drug and new idea out there. I found online support groups, and was constantly on the hunt for the next thing, some glimmer of hope from someone who had tried something that made them feel better. Finally, I stumbled upon a medical doctor who healed himself from a chronic fatigue disorder. After his experience as a patient, and many years of unsuccessful diagnoses and treatments, he turned to complementary and alternative medicine. He healed himself with diet and nutrition and from that day forward opened an alternative medical ...
Fibromyalgia and the Importance of positive emotions
2007-11-03 14:11:00
Dr. Bruce H. Lipton has done an elegant job of showing how the dogma of genetic determinism is just that – dogma. He has shown that our genes and cells respond to signals from outside the cells, including the hormonal and energetic messages that reflect our emotional, mental and spiritual experiences.Lipton and others’ research reveals that rather than being determined by our genes, we actually are continually changing our genes by what we choose to think, feel and do. Such choices are constantly being genetically encoded in our brain and energetic structures. Our neurological pathways are strengthened by frequency and weakened by infrequency. Therefore, learning how to self-regulate our emotions is fundamental to unlocking our potential for greater health and well-being -– and greater connectedness with ourselves and others.Full article hereIt’s obvious that feelings of anger and frustration negatively affect psychological health, and that care and compassion do the opposite. ...

Fibromyalgia and the truth about genetics
2007-10-30 06:32:00
Begin the healing process by changing your perceptions and convictions about life.Photo courtesy of from Bruce Lipton, PhD: I would like to clarify an important point regarding the two different stories that describe how life works. One understanding is expressed in the dialogue among leading-edge research biologists, and the other notion is the one held by the public. The difference between the two points of view is very profound. The average individual has been programmed with the idea that genes (DNA) represent some kind of self-actualizing molecule that controls biology, for example people talk about a gene turning itself on or off, or that a gene causes cancer. This is a simplification based upon the concept of genetic determinism , the belief that our biological and behavioral traits are programmed in our genes. This idea encourages the attitude that we have no control over our lives and that we are merely "victims" of heredity. In contrast, biomedical research scientists have kno ...
Fibromyalgia and new science for health
2007-10-27 12:31:00
How science is changing and how new science can change your health forever…An understanding of the evolution of science requires a partial look at historical context. The first few paragraphs will bore some, make others heads spin, and an overly bright few will see errors and omissions! (I am not a scientist!) Nevertheless, wade through if you can, as understanding the content is not as important as the context, that is, the framework for where we are going. It is an exciting new frontier and will play a role in the mass healing that is coming to our world! The last paragraphs will hopefully bring all of this understanding together for you to help clarify what direction your own personal healing work will take.Okay to begin this journey, I must mention Newton’s second law which applies to macroscopic particles, where the smallest mass is the cell. In summary: As the force acting upon an object is increased, the acceleration of the object is increased. As the mass of an object is in ...

Healing Quotes

From Jerry and Esther Hicks booksThe way you feel is your point of attraction, and so Law of Attraction is most understood when you see yourself as a magnet, getting more and more of the way you feel. When you feel lonely, you attract more loneliness. When you feel poor, you attract more poverty. When you feel sick, you attract more sickness. When you feel unhappy, you attract more unhappiness. When you feel healthy and vital and alive and prosperous - you attract more of all those things. In every moment you revisit whatever you think is hindering you, you activate it again. And it becomes the hindrance NOW, and will eternally be so, unless you get off of it. We’ve never known anyone who was ever able to deactivate anything that they were talking about. You’ve just got to practice activating things that feel GOOD!from The Law of Attraction page 124For now that the medical community has given up on him, he is morelikely to turn his attention to the only thing that really ever worksa ...
