Jim Cramers Wall Street Confidential Picks, 7-24-07
2007-07-26 11:30:07
Cramer has really changed his tune on this one. He doesn't feel that there is any value to the satellite radio industry. Since many cars have an Apple facility, there is no need to use satellite radio unless one forgets his iPod at home. "Satellite radio is not indispensable, even though they claim that it is, and their balance sheets are the balance sheets from hell," Cramer said. "So this is the death mill for these companies if they can't get together." ...

Dow Tumbles More than 240 Points
2007-07-26 10:39:49
Wall Street fell sharply Thursday, extending its weeks-long streak of volatility after disappointing home sales figures added to investors' increasing uneasiness about the mortgage and corporate lending markets. The Dow Jones industrials fell more than 240 points, while Treasury yields plunged as investors moved money from stocks to bonds. Anxiety increased after the Commerce Department reported that sales of new homes fell 6.6 percent last month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 834,000 units, more than triple what had been expected ...

The DJIAs Best Performing Stocks
2007-07-25 16:11:26
As of yesterday's close, 62% of S&P 500 stocks had beaten analyst EPS estimates for the second quarter. Check out the website for a chart that highlights the quarterly EPS beat rates for S&P 500 stocks. The current quarter is about in line with the average over the past 10 years and weaker than the average over the past 3 years. The average over the last 3 quarters does highlight a bit of a downtrend in earnings beats. Analysts seem to have gotten a little too positive after the 73% level reached in the third quarter of 2006. As the ch ...
Room to grow at Radvision and Ceragon
2007-07-25 15:39:32
Shlomi Cohen gives us his reasons for why he thinks Ceragon and Radvision may get a boost after their earnings report this week. Ceragon (CRNT), which reported yesterday, received a boost last Friday, when First Albany reiterated its "Strong Buy" recommendation for the company and upped its target price to $16 from $13. Having climbed 147% since the beginning of the year, some people will no doubt be selling their shares, regardless of the company's second quarter results. I, on the other hand, think that Ceragon could still climb eve ...
Fed Sees Moderate Growth in Early Summer
2007-07-25 15:13:08
The economy registered modest growth in the early summer, considering how consumers and some businesses were buffeted by both high gasoline prices and the sour housing market. That's the gist of a Federal Reserve region-by-region survey, released Wednesday, which also showed the economy clearly has emerged from a rut at the beginning of the year and is now growing, albeit slowly. On the inflation front, consumer prices continued to increase "at a moderate rate," the Fed report said. "Almost every region said that oil and gasoline pri ...
