Why Fashion Rocks!
2007-09-07 16:04:00
The connection between fashion and rock is a fickle one, no matter how hard Tommy Hilfiger may try to explain its obviousness. The reality is that sometimes the connection is there and, well, sometimes it isn't. Nevertheless, some of the hottest celebs hit up the event looking quite fabulous.Alicia Keys sparkled on the runway in a Calvin Klein dress. She also closed the concert with an amazing duet with Carlos Santana. Ciara upped the extension factor and took us back to her "long hair days." Dang and I was lovin her short crop too! Oh well, she still looked stunning in a white gown by Elie Saab and Kimora looked radiant in a black minidress from her KLS collection.Critics are saying that the "Fashion Rocks" benefit at Radio City Music Hall held last night was pretty much hit-and-miss with its unexpected artist pairings or cover version choices. Ah, who cares? Decide for yourself and let me know what you think. (An edited version of the show airs on CBS tonight at 9 p.m., check your l ...

I just love the casualness of Ciara and Ashlee's ensembles, they look relaxed and hip like budding designers. Selita and Adrienne's looks are great too, but I'd rather with a casual look. Omigosh, you are so Ugly!
2007-08-30 14:36:00
Kinda harsh, huh? But, I didn't mean it that way. To say that someone is "ugly", is to say that they are unique and absolutely gorgeous in their own right. (See models below)Note: The ladies featured here are not ugly. This talent agency is about helping people land jobs because they look different than your average model. Ugly NY is a modeling agency looking to represent people who do not fit the typical fashion model mold. For this reason, the word "ugly" has become synonymous with the word "beautiful." Many people feel that they can't live out their dream and become a model because they aren't tall enough or thin enough or (clears throat) light enough. (Boo!) Well, put those negative thoughts behind you and let Ugly NY give you the career you've been looking for. Visit Ugly NY to obtain more information about the agency and to view some of the talent. Also, check out this clip to see more of what Ugly NY is all about. Also, check out the male models featured on the site. They are ...
Style Inspiration: Rihanna
2007-08-28 14:20:00
From those Christian Louboutin graffiti pumps, to those infamous Herve Leger dresses - Rihanna has emerged into one of the hottest fashionistas in Hollywood today. Her “glam rock” style has set her apart from the rest of the R&B and pop singers on the scene and according to Rihanna, this look is more her. In recent interviews, Rihanna has been quoted saying that her new style is an expression of herself, opposed to the "safe" look she had when she first came out. Rihanna’s style is all about sexy glam with a bit of an edge. Tight minidresses, pumps, skinny jeans, bustiers and fingerless gloves are some things to look out for.I don't about you, but I am definitely feelin' Rihanna's new look. So much in fact, that I want to change up my look. Tired of the "safe" girly look, I am sincerely want to go for an edgier look. Being in college has helped me to find out a lot more about myself, both in and out of the classroom. I now enjoy things that I previously wouldn't have. I like ...
We love graphics!
2007-08-28 13:33:00
Whether mod or abstract, graphic print dresses have definitely been a runway favorite.Bold graphic dresses are THE modern, sophisticated way to wear a print. Pairing the look with a great pair of platforms adds an unexpected touch and definite chic. When wearing a sassy print like this one, remember to always balance things out. If you’re wearing a busy top, pair it with a neutral pant or skirt and if you are wearing a printed pant, wear a plain top. Anyone can wear prints, no matter their size with these great tips. First, take a look at your body type. If you’re bottom heavy, a printed top and black pants (which can give the illusion of being slimmer) would look fantastic. If you’re top heavy, wear a black top and a beautiful printed skirt. Don't forget a pair of basic black heels to finish the look. What Not to Do: 1. Don’t wear head-to-toe prints ever. 2. Wear only one print piece at a time. 3. Never wear printed accessories when wearing clothes in busy prints or patterns. ...

You betta get it bright!
2007-08-23 13:51:00
Colored tights are here to stay... at least for a little while anyway. They've been seen all over the runways lately and Spotlight On Style! is here to give you the inside scoop on taking this look from runway to reality. I personally think colored tights are gorgeous; they can make any outfit pop. To keep you ahead of the game, I've composed some tips that will help you get this look right and have everyone asking, "just how does she do it?" Instead of diving right into a bright hue like lime green, opt for a more subtle, yet still stylish hue, like plum. This look is one that you have to ease yourself in to. Wear bright tights to fill the gap in between skirts and flats for a look that is not too overpowering. Also, when wearing bright tights please don’t match them to your shoes. The key here is to not look too matchy-matchy. You definitely want to keep the rest of your look subdued and let your tights take center stage. For even more tips on how to rock this trend, check out An ...

Mix it up!

Above: Eva Longoria at the Beckham Welcome Party at the Museum of Contemporary Art in LA on July 22, 2007. Above: Tracee Ellis Ross at the 14th Annual Race to Erase MS on April 14, 2007.Trend Alert: Clashing color combinations. I’m talking high contrasting hues that one would never think of putting together. Are we feeling it? I personally think the idea is great, but I’m guessing that a lot of people would find it "tacky." I love the yellow Gustavo Cadile dress and green satin Rickard Shah shoes that Eva's wearing. She looks daring and original and that's ALWAYS a plus. The key to wearing this look is to limit your accessories. Let the outfit be about color and keep the rest of the look subtle. Remember: understated elegance is the KEY here! So, what do you think about the trend? Are contrasting colors a "hit" or a "miss?" ...
