VPOD: The Art of Aldrich 2007-07-09 08:32:00 Sometimes it's the littlest decision that can change the direction of our lives. For Larry Aldrich, this happened the summer before he was to attend Columbia University and study law. He took a summer job as a salesman for a local dress manufacturer and within two years had created his own fashion firm. But even this was just a stepping stone as he dedicated the better part of his life to collecting and promoting art and eventually founded the first museum in the country to devote itself entirely to contemporary art. This museum, The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, opened to the public in 1964. Larry Aldrich always fostered a deep appreciation for beauty and one can see it in his fashion as well.
