“WGA Strike Is Over” Claims Michael Eisner
2008-02-08 09:46:06
Michael Eisner, ex-head of Disney, has stated the WGA strike has been resolved and will soon be passed on to the wider writers members for official approval:
“It’s over,” Eisner said. “They made the deal, they shook hands on the deal. It’s going on Saturday to the writers in general.”
Eisner, speaking live on CNBC’s “Fast Money,” seemed to hesitate initially about whether it was possible that the writers could still reject the agreement, but finally suggested the deal’s acceptance was inevitable.
“A deal has been made, and they’ll be back to work very soon,” Eisner said, adding, “I know a deal’s been made. I know it’s over.”
Last week we were also told the strike was over, so this could just be another stepping stone, but either way it sounds like we’re very, very close.

Slated to debut in late 2008,the attraction will follow the model of the high-energy show. That experience will include an audition process, open to all who register, where guests perform “live” in video kiosks in full view of a panel of screeners. Singers who pass this screening test will mov ...

Kirsten Dunst Enters Rehab; Doubtful A Cure Exists
2008-02-08 08:00:33
Every time I see a picture of Kirsten Dunst I think to myself, “something is so very, very wrong here.” Turns out Dunst finally came to the same realization as she has entered the celeb rehab ranch famous for its revolving door approach to healing:
The Spider-Man star is being treated at the exclusive Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah, the same facility where Lindsay Lohan spent nearly two months and where Eva Mendes recently checked in, according to the source.
“She’s not doing well,” the source says. “People were pushing her to go in there but there was no intervention… She has been partying hard for a while and I’m sure the Heath Ledger thing put people over the edge.”
Adds the source, “She’s been crying a lot lately, a lot built up. …Everybody hits that bottom where you feel [so] scared that that one heavy night of partying can really wake you up. It’s good she’s getting herself help.”
This comes ...

Coming Soon: Hancock - Trailer & Details
2008-02-07 12:00:10
The popularity of the superhero and comic book stories have lead us here, to Hancock. Will Smith stars as the title character who has lots of special powers but little tact or a home for that matter. Smith seems to turn up in just about everything these days, making him a regular ol’ Nic Cage, just with slightly less cheesy deliveries. Adding in Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron should add a nice touch to the film. Peter Berg as the director will be interesting after his last film “The Kingdom“, which made up for “The Rundown”. You can expect this one to make plenty of dollars come summer time with its July release.
Hancock - Details:
Release Date: 2 July 2008
Genre: Action / Comedy / Drama / Fantasy
Starring: Will Smith, Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman
Director: Peter Berg
Expected Rating: PG-13 for violence
Hancock - Plot:
A hard-living superhero (Smith) who has fallen out of favor with the public enters into a questionable relationship with the wif ...

George Clooney Predicts A Daniel Day-Lewis Oscar Win
2008-02-07 08:00:19
After watching “There Will Be Blood” this weekend and thoroughly enjoying it, especially the perfect performance of Daniel Day-Lewis, I don’t see how anyone could possibly win this year’s Academy Award for Best Actor besides Day-Lewis. According to WENN, his competitor George Clooney is inclined to agree:
But Clooney has already given up hope of winning for his role in Michael Clayton - to add to his Best Supporting Academy Award for Syriana - after watching Day-Lewis in his nominated role in There Will Be Blood. He says, “If you want my honest opinion, I think it’s going to be Daniel Day-Lewis. He sort of irritates all of us because he’s so good. I’ll tell you right now, I don’t like him!”
I’m sure Clooney is kidding about not liking Day-Lewis. Now if the two had worked together I wouldn’t be surprised considering how difficult it’s rumored to be because of how serious he takes his acting work. Fine wit ...

American Idol Season 7 Final Auditions Recap - Feb 6, 2008
2008-02-06 20:07:10
Tonight was the final night of auditions. This was a combination of the best and worst auditions from across the country. Now being a pessimist, I expected there to be far more in the worst category than the best. It turned out there was a nice mix a both. So here’s what we saw:
Best: Amy Davis from Indiana sang Blue Bayou. She had a pretty face as well as a pretty voice and is going to Hollywood.
Worst: Tiffany McCampbell said her voice was a gift from God. She sang a gospel song called Hallelujah. The best thing I can say was it was loud. I’m surprised Simon’s ears didn’t start bleeding. I hope she got a gift receipt.
Worst: The twins from North Carolina who shared a girlfriend were a little weird. The dual audition where the one beatboxed while the other forgot the lyrics to their rap song was pretty lame. Their girlfriend Ashley, tried to bribe Simon by giving him her dog Panda. Simon loved the dog but hated the singing. Outside of her ear shot even the ...

CBS Provides More Details On Big Brother 9 “Soulmate” Twist
2008-02-06 12:00:12
After my initial hesitations on the “soulmates” twist for Big Brother 9 CBS has provided more information which makes this sound a bit more interesting. Apparently none of these soulmated houseguests (check them all out here) have ever met. Instead they were matched based on an e-Harmony style profiling (no idea what system they really used and I’m sure it wasn’t e-Harmony, that’s just an example). They won’t know who their match is until they’ve entered the house. At that point they’ll be locked at the hip, not literally of course. They’ll have to sleep together, literally this time, share power together, get nominated together, and even face eviction together. Yikes.
Okay, so that makes some serious implications for the timeline of the game. If we have 16 couples that operate in pairs we’ll only have 7 evictions and apparently 2 winners for Big Brother 9. It’s probably safe to bet that the winners will have to ...

Heath Ledger’s Cause Of Death Announced: Overdose
2008-02-06 10:48:15
It’s been several weeks since the sudden death of movie star Heath Ledger, but today the NYC medical examiner’s office released details on the determined cause of death:
“Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine,” said an announcement released Wednesday morning by office spokesperson Ellen Borakove.
Oxycodone is a pain medication, hydrocodone is a cough suppressant, diazepam is commonly called Valium, temazepam treats anxiety or sleeplessness, alprazolam is known as Xanax, and doxylamine is a sedating antihistamine.
Good gravy. Did the man swallow a Walgreen’s? This really pisses me off. What was he thinking taking all of those pills together? You can look forward to the “doctor” who prescribed this laundry list of medicine to get slammed and maybe even lose his license. What the heck was he doing with Oxycodone? I&rsquo ...

Secure The Borders! Amy Winehouse Seeking A U.S. Visa
2008-02-06 08:00:09
Is all the booze gone in England? Something must have run out over there because druggie Amy Winehouse has excused herself from rehab to go and apply for a U.S. Visa. Now her publicist is claiming it has something to do with the upcoming Grammy Awards, according to WENN, but I’m on to her:
The hitmaker left the London clinic for just a few hours to meet officials at the U.S Embassy. She was accompanied by her father Mitch and a nurse, as the terms of her treatment mean she must remain under supervision at all times. It is believed Winehouse is applying for a visa to attend the Grammys in Los Angeles on February 10, where she is nominated for six awards.
Winehouse was banned from the U.S. last October after she was arrested and fined in Norway for possession of cannabis.
Gasp! Cannibas? America needs none of those cannibas folks over here. We’ve worked long and hard to rid this country of those damn kids smoking their reefer. Be gone devil woman. Be gone!

ABC Season 12 Bachelor: Matt Grant
2008-02-05 21:00:10
Last night on Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann, ABC gave its viewers a sneak peek at the new Bachelor when host Drew Lachey had a chance to speak with him. Matt Grant is a 27-year-old “global financier” who hails from London, UK. I’m not sure what global financier is but I assume that means he has money. He’s athletic, intelligent, good looking, rich and at 6′5″ he definitely falls into the tall, dark, and handsome category. Throw in his accent and he is well on his way to being the perfect Bachelor. ABC is making a big deal out of his being the first international Bachelor.
Grant is going to have the chance to choose from 25 gorgeous American women. So what is the new bachelor looking for in his future wife to be? In an interview with OK Magazine, Grant said he is “looking for a woman to make me laugh and someone who is very social, close to family and friends and someone who is smart, who can challenge me. American women are much more sport ...

Big Brother 9: Houseguests Exposed Earlier Than ‘The Early Show’
2008-02-05 20:52:10
Despite the original plans for Julie Chen to reveal the houseguests Wednesday morning on “The Early Show” TV Guide has leaked the list and pictures for Big Brother 9 cast members. This paired with the discovery of CBS’ plans for a “Soulmates” twist for the new season has given us quite a preview of what to expect in just one more week when the new season premieres. Okay, I won’t delay this any longer. Let’s get right down to the details on the season 9 houseguests. This time around you’ll only find one person over 30 and that’s a 45 year old former model, Sheila. So much for CBS catering to an older crowd following the success of Dick Donato last season. Mostly you’ve got mid-twenties with good tans and likely even better bodies. Discuss your impressions at the Big Brother 9 Forum and check out the video below with Julie Chen discussing the new houseguests for BB9.

American Idol Season 7 Atlanta Auditions Recap - Feb 5, 2008
2008-02-05 20:05:25
Tonight was the South’s second chance to show what its made of. Charleston, South Carolina, did the South Proud, now it is Georgia’s turn. The American Idol auditions were down in Atlanta, GA.
Tonight was definitely a story of the good, the bad, and the ugly. The first three contestants were the perfect example: one who was going to Hollywood and shouldn’t have been, one who shouldn’t ever be allowed to sing again, and one who was absolutely brilliant. Joshua Jones, the demonic-eyed, glass cutter, was the first to get a golden ticket. I really didn’t like him. His eyes bugged out whenever he sings to the point where the judges made him sing with his back to them. My big problem with him though was his voice. He was a little too breathy and it almost seemed like his voice was about to crack. JP the next contestant had auditioned in Season 4 and sat just two seats away from Carrie Underwood. He didn’t make it in Season 4 and he didn’t make it in ...
