American Gladiator Returns!
2008-01-04 08:00:46
In an age of writer’s strikes what can keep the people entertained? Why bread and circuses of course! American Gladiator returns Sunday night on NBC. Those of you who are old enough (like me) will remember this show from the 80’s. Average everyday Americans have to compete against muscle bound gladiators to win cash and prizes. What could be more entertaining than that? Well I guess they could have brought back the lions but this is the 21st century after all. No doubt PETA would have been all up in arms if they had. There isn’t any actual blood and guts so it is appropriate for children. I’ll probably let my kids watch it even though I know we’ll have some problems with pudgel sticks in the back yard the next day. This was a fun show back in the 80’s and I remember watching as a kid. It was fun back then and I’m looking forward to it again now. It looks like they have the same events setup in the arena and the costumes are as skimpy as t ...
Coming Soon: Forgetting Sarah Marshall - Trailer & Details
2008-01-03 12:00:05
Ready for more Judd Apatow comedy? This Apatow guy is becoming the Ben Stiller of directing/producing/etc. He’s involved in everything these days! While almost everything he touches turns to gold his attempt at humor with the fake biopic “Walk Hard” fell flat with its disappointingly low box office earnings. This time though the Nicholas Stoller directed and Apatow produced comedy looks much lighter and crowd friendly. I kept waiting for this to actually turn into Weekend at Bernie’s III by the end of the trailer. Heck, who am I kidding? I’ll still go see it. What about you? Forgetting Sarah Marshall - Details: Release Date: 30 May 2008 Genre: Comedy Starring: Kristen Bell, Jason Segel, Paul Rudd Director: Nicholas Stoller Expected Rating: R for kuh-razy humor Forgetting Sarah Marshall - Plot: Peter (Segel) jets off to Hawaii for a vacation that is supposed to help him deal with his recent break-up with his TV star girlfriend, Sarah (Bell). JJ Abrams’ Cloverfield Monster Revealed? Take A Look For Yourself
2008-01-03 10:00:04
With JJ Abrams’ new movie Cloverfield just weeks away from its January 18th 2007 release the hype continues to build. (Okay, not kidding, but just as I started typing this post an old man on tonight’s Law & Order started talking about his store over on, wait for it, Cloverfield.) So while just about every little detail has been kept overly secret, like the alleged movie title which turned out to be the actual title, the picture below is rumored to be that mysterious, unseen monster as it is cleverly disguised with the title “Cloverfield Monster”. So what’s the first thing that monster reminds you of? Um, yeah, lice. So in two weeks New York is going to be attacked by an oversized lice bug? The picture even says “Monster Louse” in the middle on the right. Sigh. Thanks JJ. Lost’s return better make up for this. Okay, so let’s take a closer look and see what else is there. While the giant louse is certainly a stand o ...
Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann Reminder
2008-01-03 08:00:07
With the holidays over it’s time to start looking ahead to the spring season. Just in case you had your TV off over the holidays and missed any of the hundreds of commercials I thought I would post a reminder that Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann starts Monday night on ABC at 8/7c. The six week run of Dance War will be a great way to scratch your Dancing With The Stars itch until the new season starts probably sometime in mid-march. In addition to the two Dancing With The Stars judges, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba, ABC has also brought back another DWTS favorite to be part of the show. Dance War will be hosted by Drew Lachey, who was the the Season Two Dancing with the Stars champion and also substituted as the co-host of DWTS while Samantha Harris was on maternity leave. Bruno and Carrie Ann spent this fall scouring the country to find the nation’s hottest talent. This week during the audition show, they will select the 12 best performers. These contestants will ...
WBM Interview: Shanna Moakler of “Crowned” on The CW
2008-01-02 12:01:59
Shanna Moakler is a name and face you’ll recognize from her stint as Miss USA 1995, acting across television and movies, and most recently dabbling in reality TV. Those first two, pageants and television, converged in reality TV when Shanna came on as a host of The CW’s latest reality show Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants. Joined by co-hosts Carson Kressley and Cynthia Nixon, Shanna challenges mother and daughter teams with weekly pageant events where they must perform and survive the de-sashing ceremonies. After just a few weeks into the series I’ve already been thoroughly entertained and was thrilled with the chance to talk with and interview Shanna Moakler about her role and experience on Crowned. Read on to find out what Shanna was looking for from the mother daughter pairs, if she had any favorites, and what she’d pick as her own team name if she paired up with one of her daughters. Crowned: Episode 4 “Tension, Tears, Teamwork” Preview
2008-01-02 10:00:49
Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants returns for its fourth installment tonight on The CW. Last week we saw team “Tomboy Queens” desashed and sent on their way. This week things will continue to heat up as its time for the mother and daughter talent show. Hmm, I wonder if Patty and Laura will just come out and present themselves saying, “our talent is who we are.” Ugh, I’m ready for those two to be gone. Here’s a preview summary for tonight’s episode of Crowned: An emotional trust exercise between the mother and daughter teams leads to tension and tears, causing one mom to put the smackdown on her daughter. The competition tests each team’s ability to highlight a talent they can both perform for the judges. Under the spotlight, one mother/daughter duo shocks the judges (Carson Kressley, Shanna Moakler and Cynthia Garrett), while several other pairs struggle with their routines…with surprising results. Check back later today ...

2008-01-02 08:00:32
Tonight on The CW Gossip Girl returns in its first season with “School Lies”. Along with all the usual drama and capers you’ve grown accustomed to you’ll get to hear a couple of songs from cast member Ed Westwick’s band The Filthy Youth. More details on that below but here’s a look at what’s in tonight’s episode of Gossip Girl: IMPROMPTU PARTY AT THE SCHOOL SWIMMING POOL — Serena (Blake Lively), Blair (Leighton Meester), Nate (Chace Crawford), Chuck (Ed Westwick) and their entourage break into the school swimming pool for a night of fun, but when a member of their group nearly drowns, the school threatens to expel the person responsible for the break-in. Everyone agrees to keep a secret pact and say nothing, but it ultimately creates major tension between Serena and Dan (Penn Badgley), who isn’t sure he’s ready to take the fall for someone else and risk his future. Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) is working on a documentary project abo ...

James ‘Bond 22? Starts Filming This Week In The UK
2007-12-31 11:00:00
Good news for Daniel Craig Bond fans, the franchise’s 22nd installment will begin filming later this week in the UK. Now I refused to see Casino Royale over their contract breaking behavior with Pierce Brosnan, but this 22nd film would be the first outside of that contract so I’ll be ready to return to the series. We already found out several months ago that Craig would be back for at least four more Bond movies, though we already know they don’t take the word “contract” very seriously anyways, so who knows. This time around the director has changed and will be Marc Forester. Forester, director of the recent “Kite Runner”, admits that he’s never directed an action film. Gulp. Last time we had Martin Campbell who was also the director of the absurdly awesome “Golden Eye”. Remember how much Brosnan’s second Bond stunk in comparison to his first? That time they changed the directors as well. This isn’t to ...
Weekend Movie Box Office Earnings: December 28 - 30, 2007
2007-12-31 09:14:01
The Christmas to New Year’s weekend movie earnings are in not too surprisingly National Treasure 2 continued to hold on to the top spot. I think that means its safe to say we’ll see a National Treasure 3 in a couple more years. I am disappointed to see Alvin come back up to the second place rank while AVP2 and Juno stayed pretty low. Okay, probably not fair to group AVP2 and Juno together but I did think both of those would do better. I was also sorry to see Denzel Washington’s ‘The Great Debaters’ fail to make the top ten. That looked pretty interesting. Did you get out to see any of these? Here they are, your box office movie earnings for this weekend: December 28 - 30, 2007. If you missed any of the background on the new releases check out our Weekend Movie Preview with trailers and details. Box office domestic earnings for movies this weekend, December 28 - 30, 2007: “National Treasure: Book of Secrets” $35.6 million [$124.0M to ...

Mischa Barton Arrested For DUI? That’s Crazy Talk
2007-12-28 08:55:09
So yesterday Mischa Barton (The OC) was arrested for driving drunk, not having a license (what the hell?), and for being dumb enough to carry her stash on her while driving drunk (and without a license): Barton was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license, possessing a controlled substance and possessing marijuana, according to a statement from sheriff’s Sgt. John Hocking. Deputies saw her vehicle straddling the lanes and failing to signal for a turn, according to a sheriff’s press statement. “During Ms. Barton’s detention, it was determined that she was an unlicensed driver and was driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage,” the statement said. I don’t know where the police go to come up with all these wacky ideas, but it’s gotta be crazy town. As her wanna-be-lawyer I’ll first present these photos which show that Mischa Barton is in fact a very careful driver who ...
Coming Soon: Wanted - Trailer & Details
2007-12-27 11:00:39
Shoot ‘em up. Bang bang. Get ready for lots of that with “Wanted”, an action movie filled with assassins fighting other assassins while training assassins and no doubt trying to hook up with assassins. Sheesh. Watching the trailer I noticed some similarities to another trailer I had seen, “Day Watch”, and sure enough it’s the same director, Timur Bekmambetov. This movie has allegedly been bumped around a few times at the studio due to concerns over its quality and now looks to drop in late June. I’m just hoping one of Angelina Jolie’s missions will be to find a cheeseburger and eat the whole thing, in one meal! Wanted - Details: Release Date: 27 June 2008 Genre: Action Starring: Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy Director: Timur Bekmambetov Expected Rating: R for lots o’ violence Wanted - Plot: A young man (McAvoy) finds out his long lost father is an assassin. And when his father is murdered, the son is recruit ...
