Tim Burton?s Sweeney Todd 2007-04-26 09:24:12 Sweeney Todd The Demon barber of Fleet Street I have always liked Tim Burton’s movies. Beetle Juice, Mars Attacks, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure are some all-time classic movies. (I really liked Sleepy Hollow too.) Burton’s version of Batman was probably the best ever. So it is with great anticipation that I am looking forward to his latest project, Sweeney Todd. 30 Rock: Alec Baldwin Requests Contract Release 2007-04-26 07:41:32 In light of the recent events of Alec Baldwin’s voicemail explosion over visitation with his daughter, Baldwin has requested NBC to release him from his contract for 30 Rock. NBC, which recently renewed 30 Rock for a second season, quickly rejected the idea, noting that Baldwin has become a keystone actor in the show with his role as the callous executive. “If I never acted again I couldn’t care less. I would like to devote myself to the cause of parental alienation,” said Baldwin. Hugh Grant Arrested: Baked Beans to Blame 2007-04-26 07:16:05 Hugh Grant, 46, was arrested Wednesday night after getting into a fight Tuesday with a photographer near his home. The photographer, Ian Whittaker, claims that the fight started with Grant abusing and kicking him. It’s likely difficult to determine just when the fight took a nasty turn, but it’d probably be right around when Grant came back with a tub of baked beans (a tub of beans??) and hurled them at the photographer. Thankfully no beans were hurt, only the photographer’s ego and Grant’s sliding career. The Daily Star ran photos of Hugh Grant with the plastic tub of beans raised over his head, though I have yet to find these pictures. If you see them, please share! Michael Bay to Remake Alfred Hitchcock?s The Birds 2007-04-25 11:56:48 Michael Bay (producer and director of the stinker The Island) is looking to remake Alfred Hitchcock’s classic The Birds. The Birds was Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 thriller about a flock of birds that take over a quiet Northern California town. I saw the original a few years back due to it being one of those movies you hear to be so great. It wasn’t terrible, but it’s 45 years old and not wildly exciting. It’s about a renegade flock of birds for crying out loud. If Hitchcock hadn’t been attached to it I’d doubt we’d still be hearing about it these days. So along comes Michael Bay, who seems to get his bread and butter from stepping on the shoulders of others (The Amityville Horror remake and Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake), and decides to redo this film. Rosie O?Donnell Is Leaving The View 2007-04-25 09:57:43 After a brief, one year stay on The View the most outspoken member of its round table, Rosie O’Donnell, is leaving the show this June. ABC commented that it was unable to reach a contractual agreement with the Flintstone’s star. Rosie replied, “AHHH! GARBLE GARBLE GARBLE! DONALD TRUMP! GARBLE GARBLE GARBLE!” To which Trump replied, “Haha. You got dropped off TV before me,” and then stuck out his tongue. American Idol: Top 6 Vote Off Prediction - April 25, 2007 2007-04-25 07:59:24 Simon put it very well last night on American Idol when he said that he feels like the competition has finally started. I would have to completely agree. I’m not sure what it was (Sanjaya) that was taking away from it and making it more of a high school talent show (Sanjaya) than your typical American Idol season. I guess we’ll never know (Sanjaya). Last night’s performances focused on themes of compassion, support, and changing things for the better. While everyone did a great job there were, of course, the stand outs as well a few under-performers. Before I get to my predictions, a few notes regarding tonight’s show. Dancing with the Stars Results: Week 6 2007-04-24 21:16:31 “America’s Favorite Ballroom” Because the judges thought everyone did such a great job last night, the judges chose the group swing for the judges’ encore. It actually seemed a little rougher tonight like when Edyta popped John in the back of the head with her foot during their little solo. During the Audience feedback session, one of the audience members made a particularly astute comment, that Ian did in the group swing what the judges want him to do during their individual performance. That comment was dead on. He really got into it during the group swing. Ian seemed to let go and be excited about dancing. Hopefully he heard that comment and took it to heart. American Idol: Top 6 Performance Show Recap - April 24 2007-04-24 20:07:26 We’re down to the Top 6 performers for American Idol Season 6. Tonight the theme is going to be of compassion and charity due to this week being the big Idol Gives Back charity event, which is pretty cool. Every time you call in and vote tonight companies will donate additional money to this cause, so keep voting tonight. I expect we’re going to see some incredibly high voting turn out and lots of busy, busy lines. Luckily there will be 2 numbers for each contestant though, so if one doesn’t work, give the other a try, of course, and double lucky, they are running the lines twice as long tonight. Since tomorrow night’s results show will be a mighty series of guest performers and celebrities there will be lots to see in its full 2 hours (8-10pm EST). Last week we saw Sanjaya Malakar go home, deserving, but still surprising. American Idol: Top 6 Performance Show Preview - April 24 2007-04-24 11:42:28 Tonight we are down to our Top 6 contestants for American Idol Season 6 2007. Last week I was pleasantly surprised to see Sanjaya Malakar going home, while LaKisha Jones and Blake Lewis survived a night in the bottom three. It looks like our American Idol Charity efforts finally paid off, so thanks to all the supporters. Speaking of charities, tonight is part one of the two night special for Idol Gives Back, the charity special by American Idol to raise money and support for needy children in the U.S. and Africa. I wasn’t sure if there would be a musical coach since this week’s theme is the charity, but guess what, Bono is supposed to be meeting with the Top 6 contestants. I’m still not sure if that’ll be to just discuss the cause or to help theme pick a song for tonight. Either way the theme will be compassion for tonight’s songs. After months of during-pregnancy claims Brown added Murphy to the birth certificate, again eliciting a response of denial from Murphy. In her latest attempt to assure the world that Eddie Murphy is in fact the father of her newly born daughter, Melanie Brown has decided to name her baby after Murphy, well at least part of the baby’s name: Angel Iris Murphy Brown. “Angel, as she was my little angel through my pregnancy. Iris, as it’s my grandma’s name, Murphy because he’s the dad, and Brown, because I’m the Mum!” said the statement from Melanie Brown Oh boy, nothing makes a child feel better than to have it named out of spite.
