Don?t Miss TV: April 30 - May 4
2007-04-30 12:00:45
It’s another week of television shows coming at you and we’re here to help. Here’s a break down by night of what you need to be sure to catch and what’s going on this week, April 30 - May 4: Monday: Heroes: 9-10pm on NBC; String Theory: Hiro is disturbed by the grim future he discovers where those with special abilities are hunted and considered threats to society. Hmm… Sounds like X-Men. He attempts to return to his own time, but is caught up in a battle that involves a host of new and oddly familiar faces. This is the ‘5 years in the future’ episode. Hopefully they’ll get back to the main storyline and not spend too much on this topic. 24: 9-10pm on Fox; It’s now 1 AM in “24″ land. CTU searches for a lead on Chang from Audrey, and acting president Daniels believes there may be a leak at CTU or the White House. Dancing with the Stars: 8-9:45pm on ABC; This will be the seventh round of competition and inclu ...
Conan O?Brien: Just 2 More Years Until Funny Returns to Tonight
2007-04-30 10:00:32
I’ve never been a fan of Jay Leno. He’s not bad I guess, I just think he’s too nice. If Britney Spears walked out to his couch after just having shaved her head Jay would have done his little bobblehead thing and told her how nice she looked. David Letterman would have had a field day instead and it’d have been hilarious. It blows my mind that Leno gets better ratings than David Letterman. Leno’s best things are when he does the “Jay Walking” where he highlights morons and the typos in the paper. Neither of those things involve him having to be funny, instead he just uses humor provided by others. But Letterman isn’t the one that’s going to save NBC’s The Tonight Show, instead it’ll be up to another man. Stuck in his time slot shadow since 1993 is the fantastic Conan O’Brien. The man is a comic genius and deserves the Tonight Show spot for himself starting, well, tonight. Unfortunately we’ve s ...
The Bachelor Preview: Week 5
2007-04-30 09:28:11
The Bachelor, An Officer and a Gentlemen: Results and Review. Last week Andy was very astute in the girls he sent home. He managed to pick out the bad apples and send them packing. I am referring of course to Kate and Stephanie (SC). Nicole wasn’t a trouble maker like the other two but she and Andy didn’t have the connection he does with several of the other girls. With the loss of these three, Andy is still left with 6 lovely ladies to choose from: 1. Amber 2. Tessa 3. Danielle 4. Bevin 5. Tina 6. Stephanie (K) This week Andy takes the ladies yachting. The girls will also participate in charity work and one lucky girl gets to wear a couple million dollars worth of diamonds on her one-on-one date with Andy. Of the remaining girls, I think Andy has the closest relationship with Amber, Bevin, and Tessa. Amber received the only pre-ceremony rose and the good doctor likes to make out with Bevin every time he examines her ankle (the winner may need to keep an eye on Dr. ...
Dancing with the Stars Preview: Week 7
2007-04-30 09:07:12
“America’s Favorite Ballroom” Last week, Heather and Jonathon were sent home. Leaving only six couples remaining: Apolo & Julianne Laila & Maksim Joey & Kym Ian & Cheryl Billy Ray & Karina John & Edyta (Go Cliffy!) This week the couples again need to learn two dance routines: a ballroom dance and a latin dance. As time commitments begin to eat into the star’s practice time more and more this could have an even greater effect on the competition. John and Edyta especially need to step it up. They were in the bottom two again last week. John is trying but he just can’t keep up with the younger stars. Billy Ray likewise really needs to push it. He has been lucky to make it this far. hard work has been the only thing keeping him alive. Ian is the third star who needs to break out. As the field narrows he has to start doing more if he wants to stay in the competition. In his case it isn’t hard work but more feeling whic ...
Monday Morning Helper: 30 Rock & Cerie?s Underpants Video
2007-04-30 08:00:39
Last Thursday’s episode of 30 Rock was the season finale, but lucky you because you can watch entire episodes of 30 Rock online. Here’s a clip video from when Kenneth, the naive page, has the chance to go for the beautiful Cerie and he scores her underpants. Well, kinda. ...
HBO?s The Sopranos, The Final Episodes (episode 4)
2007-04-29 22:22:39
Again, another disappointing episode. An entire hour of not much. If their goal is just to tie up loose ends from earlier seasons then maybe this is OK, but I would prefer they focused on entertaining me instead. At this rate I may not even wait until the season is over to cancel HBO. The two main story lines in this episode are Vito Jr. is a troubled child and Tony has financial problems and is turning to his gambling problem to fix them. So to start the show, Vito’s widow (You remember Vito, the fat gay wise guy), comes and talks to Tony to ask for $100K so she can take her troubled son Vito Jr. to Maine. Tony believes this is Phil’s problem because, Phil was the one who wacked Vito (one of Tony’s to earners) and he is her cousin. Tony says he’ll talk to Phil for her. Phil is not really interested in helping to put it nicely. Phil talks to Vito jr. His therapy session is real sensitive (not). Tony also stops by to talk to Vito Jr. his talk is a little ...
Amazing Race Week 11 Recap: Jungle Love!
2007-04-29 21:37:38
Starting positions: 1. Dustin and Kandace (D&K) 2. Charla and Mirna (C&M) 3. Eric and Danielle (E&D) 4. Oswald and Danny (O&D) Teams begin this leg by catching the ferry back to Macau. From Macau, they had to fly to the island of Guam in the South Pacific. There they had drive themselves to Andersen AFB, where a military escort would take them to the control tower. At the top of which they would receive their next clue. D&K was the only team to make the 3 o’clock ferry back to Macau. C&M and E&D were not far behind them on the 4 o’clock ferry. On the way to the airport as they are trying to get the taxi driver to understand where they want to go, Mirna makes the politically correct statement, “…do the right accent, it makes all the difference”. Charming as always. No surprise, D&K are the 1st to airport and 1st booked a flight to Guam. Not that it really mattered since C&M and E&D ended up on the same ...

Weekend Movie Box Office Round-up: April 27 - April 29
2007-04-29 14:33:17
I thought we had seen the bottom of the barrel after last weekend’s top earner of $13.5M. We didn’t even get close this time around and the top earner couldn’t even break $10M, that’s sad. So once again, Disturbia, the teen thriller movie, held on to the number one spot. The number two spot was owned by yet another teen thriller movie, The Invisible, with $7.6 million in its weekend debut. I read that The Invisible had nothing to do with the trailer, was not a mystery at all like it was presented, and was rather disappointing. That makes the #3 spot all the much more funny to me. Nicolas Cage, who must have been required for a minimum number of films clause in his contract, was no doubt the biggest disappointment this weekend to the studios. His new film, Next, barely had a pulse with on $7.2 million. The other two new releases this weekend, The Condemned and Kickin’ It Old Skool, looked like afterthoughts with their positioning at #9 and #1 ...
Weekend Brunch: Sunday Site Round-Up
2007-04-29 10:00:42
It’s Sunday again, so I’m going to leave it to others to provide the entertainment today. Here I’ve gathered up posts and sites from places I’ve visited during the week. Getting your name on the Top Commentator list here is a great way for us & others to find you. If you’ve written something that you’d like to see included here next Sunday send me an email and let me know: matt [at] wildbluffmedia [dot] com. The Braxcave: X-Men 3: The Last Stand was a real stinker for me, but a prequel focusing on Magneto could actually be pretty cool. The bad guys are always more fun. Chugs & Jugs: One of my buddies got seriously addicted to Guitar Hero II and had to stop it cold turkey. Being the helping friend that I am I sent him this video of an 8yr old rocking the game on Expert mode, wait for how many notes he missed. Everyday Weekender: I’ve never made my own beer at home because I’m lazy. You might be more motivated though: ...
Entertainment Week In Review: April 23 - 27
2007-04-28 12:00:17
See what you missed over the past week, April 23 - 27, in entertainment news and reviews. Monday: Heroes is back on NBC Monday nights and now the Cheerleader is after Walt. The rest of us should be so lucky. Tuesday: Melanie Brown will not relent in her claims of Eddie Murphy being the father of her baby girl. I’ve also discovered that Melanie may actually mean Murphy Brown is the father, not sure, you’ll have to see the baby’s name to decide. Wednesday: Rosie O’Donnell is leaving The View. No big surprise there, but what she’s doing next in her career may be a little off track. Thursday: Hugh Grant fights like a proper Englishman, with baked beans that is, of course. He attacks a photog with a side dish and gets himself arrested. Pics included. Friday: Elvis Presley came back to life this week for a duet with Celine Dion. Take a look at how they did it and the original material. Videos included. Once again, a lot happened this week. Next wee ...

Weekend Humor: Conan?s iPhone Commercial Video
2007-04-28 10:00:10
This video is a few months old, but the iPhone isn’t out yet, so I figure it’s still timely. You’ll be amazed by all the uses the new iPhone will have to simplify your life. I had no idea it was a cheese grater or a hand grenade. What will Apple think of next?? Conan’s iPhone Commercial: ...

American Idol: Elvis Has Left the Building
2007-04-27 11:12:55
Wednesday night on American Idol was billed as having the biggest duet in Idol history as part of their Idol Gives Back charity event show. This duet event featured Celine Dion and the visiting spirit of Elvis Presley, the original American idol, singing his 1968 hit, “If I Can Dream”. Although Elvis Presley died back in 1977 at age 42, through the magic of modern technology (well, not totally modern, but I’ll get to that) he was able to join in on this charity event. The first time I was watching the performance I was too fixated on the “how” question and had to go back for a replay to really enjoy it. That still left me with the “how did they do it” question. An initial search for images the morning after the show returned to me two interesting photos. The first showed Celine Dion on stage performing next to a man dressed in white and looking like Elvis. The second picture was of a similar angle but instead showed Celine standing ...

Weekend Movie Preview: Trailers & Details April 27 - 29
2007-04-27 10:00:10
Weekend movie action time here. There are four new movies coming out which range from action to comedy and suspense, then some sort of comical action, though I doubt that was on purpose. Again, like last weekend, so you’ll have to go hunting for some kids’ movies if you’re in that market. Hopefully these movies will do better than the Titanic like box office action they got last weekend. Here are all your movie details & trailers for this weekend, April 27 - 29. Also, it’s not too late to enter our contest to win a linkback. Next Director: Lee Tamahori Starring: Nicolas Cage, Julianne Moore, Jessica Biel Genre: Science Fiction/Fantasy, Thriller and Adaptation Rated: PG-13 for intense sequences of violent action, and some language. Plot: Cornered by the FBI after a relentless pursuit, a man (Cage) with the ability to see future events and affect their outcome faces an ultimatum, as the country’s intelligence agencies scramble to prevent a de ...
Kirsten Dunst is a Stuck-Up Monster
2007-04-27 08:00:21
In a recent interview, ‘I’ll Never Date Another Actor’, with Jane Magazine (May issue) Kirsten Dunst continued her theme of being incredibly stuck-up for completely unwarranted beliefs. Dunst is now dating Razorlight frontman, Johnny Borrell, who shares a similar walking-dead appearance (see pics below). She now believes that rockstars are the way to go, not actors, for dating: “This quote is probably going to come back in my face, but I know someone who has a great saying: ‘There are no actors, there are only actresses,’ “ “There are no actors,” huh? Damn right that’s going to come back in your face, which fortunately for you has its own built-in defense system. How does she continue to spout off crap like this and have any friends or contacts in Hollywood? This comes from the same mouth that spewed about how Spider-Man 4 would be a complete failure without her. Right, she’s the glue that holds that whole thing t ...
