Dancing with the Stars Preview: Week 9 Semi-Finals
2007-05-14 09:00:24
“America’s Favorite Ballroom” Last week, Billy Ray and Karina finally were sent home. That leaves only four couples left to compete in this week’s Semi-Finals: Ian & Cheryl (Well that was a surprise) Laila & Maksim Apolo & Julianne Joey & Kym Last week I was stunned when they announced that Joey & Kym were in the bottom 2! I was sure it was going to be Ian & Cheryl. Obviously Joey & Kym will be really stepping it up this week. They have been my favorites all along. They mix up their routines, they’re entertaining, and Joey is a really good dancer. I will be pulling for them again this week. Ian & Cheryl are the other couple that needs to have a couple of exceptional performances this week. While they have never been in the bottom two, of the four remaining couples they’re performances have been the weakest. If they want to avoid Billy Ray & Karina’s fate, they are going to have to be in top fo ...
NBC Fall 2007 Television Line-Up Update: Law & Order
2007-05-14 08:00:43
Last week I discussed whether or not the “Law & Order” original flavor and series spin-off “Criminal Intent” would be renewed for additional seasons considering their low ratings. There was speculation that the original series would be sent to TNT for new episodes to help reduce the large overhead on the show and allow it to remain alive. Interestingly NBC pulled the ol’ switcheroo and announced on Sunday that “Criminal Intent” is heading off the peacock network in search of greener pastures over on the USA cable network. As is, you’d have a hard time throwing a dart at the USA schedule and not hitting a rerun of Special Victims Unit or Criminal Intent. Now you’ll just get to watch new episodes of ol’ crooked head instead. The C&I episodes will eventually head over to NBC for airing. “Law & Order” will continue its aging life (currently at 17 seasons) with NBC likely through 2012 as the ...
The Bachelor Preview: Week 7
2007-05-14 07:30:13
The Bachelor, An Officer and a Gentleman: Preview. After visiting the hometowns of each of the final four women, Andy sent Amber home last week in what many have called the most tearful rose ceremony ever. This leaves Andy with only three beautiful young ladies to choose from: 1. Bevin 2. Tessa 3. Danielle Tonight, we get to see Andy take the three remaining women to see his home in Hawaii. In addition to getting a personal tour of Hawaii from Andy, the ladies will get a chance to get a better picture of Andy’s life in the navy. Then two of the girls will get to go with Andy to meet his family. Andy is going to have a very difficult time choosing between these three women. If I had to bet know on who the two ladies would be who were going to meet Andy’s family it would probably be Bevin and Tessa. Andy could still have a problem with Bevin’s divorce but, I think if he did, he would have sent her home last week. We’ll find out tonight. Check out the rest ...
Monday Morning Helper: South Park Style ?I?m a Mac, I?m a PC?
2007-05-14 07:00:52
My never ending amusement from those “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” commercials probably has something to do with my 72 IQ. So of course I’m also going to enjoy those endless knock-offs of the same theme. Well I don’t enjoy all of them, some are actually pretty low-grade. But this one, styled like the characters from South Park, isn’t too bad. ...
Survivor Fiji Season Finale & Live Reunion Show Recap
2007-05-13 22:58:51
Tonight’s show would take us from 5 (Earl, Cassandra, Boo, Yau-man, & Dreamz) down to the final survivor. Early Plotting Earl told Cassandra that Yau was on his own and that Yau didn’t have the second hidden immunity idol. I’m not really sure Cassandra bought though. Yau knows he has to win immunity or join the jury. Immunity Challenge This was a tough one. The players were blind folded. Then they had to make their way through a maze to find a key station. At the key station the player’s needed to match the symbol on their medallion to one of the symbols on the station to determine which key was theirs. Then they had to find the draw bridge with the symbol that matches their medallion and use the key top release the draw bridge. The first person to find all five of their keys and lower all five of their drawbridges wins immunity. Yau was a driven man. He had a slight lead through out the entire race but, Boo and Dreamz were right behind him the whole way. ...
Weekend Movie Box Office Round-up: May 11 - May 13, 2007
2007-05-13 14:39:24
Spider-Man 3 did it again this weekend, but this time with half the punch. The North America earning for this blockbuster over the weekend was $60M, a healthy amount for a dud of a movie. The newly arriving movie competitors this weekend didn’t stand up so well, although they did better than the competition last weekend. All three new movies managed to squeeze into the top 5 positions, although considering the amounts each of them earned its hardly brag-worthy. Thankfully next weekend should hold some redemption for audiences as another big movie comes along, also a 3rd in the series, Shrek the Third. That should have no problem stomping Spidey harder than the Sandman did. Considering the lower rating of the Shrek films it should also open it to a much wider audience range as well. I’m expecting big, big dollars there. Enough about next week, let’s take a look at the earnings from this weekend. Box office earnings for movies this weekend, May 11 - May 13 ...
Contest: New Winner & Next Round Is Open
2007-05-13 14:24:41
The winner of the weekly contest is Mark over at ElementsOfFishing.com. His guess of $69 million was the closest estimate to the actual top box office earner, Spider-Man 3 with a whopping $60 million this weekend. Congratulations to Mark! You’ve been added to our Blogroll for this week as your reward. This week’s round of our contest is now back open and with “Shrek the Third” heading our way this weekend the box office earnings should be huge once again! The Details: So what?s the contest? Simple. Place your guess on what you think the top grossing movie will earn (just guess the dollar amount) at the box office this weekend. You don?t have to pick which movie, just guess the $ amount the top movie of the upcoming weekend will earn. The person who gets closest to the top box office amount will earn a link back for the rest of the week until the next winner is determined. The winner will be selected Sunday and you?ll be up on the site for the rest of the week ...
Sunday Brunch: Weekend Site Round-Up
2007-05-13 10:00:10
It’s Sunday again, so I’m going to leave it to others to provide the entertainment today. Here I’ve gathered up posts and sites from places I’ve visited during the week. Getting your name on the Top Commentator list here is a great way for us & others to find you. Geeks of Doom: Here’s a great article on upcoming zombie movies and even some details on zombie storylines running now in comics. Chugs & Jugs: Funny beer commercial for ya. Well more gross than funny. Maybe more weird than funny or gross. I’m just glad they didn’t show him cleaning the toilet… My Retirement Project: This week the General Lee (the Hazzard boys’ car) sold for an eBay record of nearly $10M. Turned out later that was a false bid. Mans Maxx: Rainn Wilson is all set to star in “Rocker”. It’s the story of that 5th member of The Beatles that got dropped. Thank you History of Rock 101 for the vast, useless knowledge you i ...

Weekend Humor: Peyton Manning SNL Dancing Video
2007-05-12 08:00:09
This video is a portion of a skit from SNL when Peyton Manning hosted several weeks ago. What you missed from the beginning half is that Peyton’s team is getting beat pretty badly in the game and the team is ready to quit and go home. The coach tries to renew their enthusiasm by playing a song for them that his own coach played many years ago that put the fight back in him. One of the funniest parts of this video is watching all the teammates in the background trying not to laugh at Will Forte as he dances about the locker room. Peyton’s hosting job on SNL that night actually went really well, so if you see it come up on repeats again you should try to catch it. You can also check out Peyton Manning in his United Way commercial from SNL. ...

The Bachelor: Schools Out
2007-05-11 16:38:58
The Bachelor, An Officer and a Gentleman: Results and Review Ever since Amber made her tearful departure this week the news has been filled with the happenings in Sugar Land, Texas. Amber who is a 23-year old school teacher was given 22 days off to film The Bachelor by her school’s principal Tammie Carpenter. The Fort Bend Independent School District of which Amber’s school is a part, decided that Carpenter should be demoted and transferred to another school for allowing Amber to take time off to be on the show. Apparently parents both for and against against Carpenter have contacted the School District regarding this issue. Some of the parents who complained were upset because they felt the show promoted negative stereotypes of women. Others complained because the period of time Amber took off was the part of the school year in which her class was preparing for the Texas State exams. Carpenter has interned resigned her postition rather than accept the demotion and transfe ...

Britney Spears Is A Great Dresser
2007-05-11 12:00:51
Britney Spears must have taken a class on dressing during her stint in rehab the other month, cause this lady is looking H-O-T. Maybe Mugatu’s clothing line, Derelicte, is finally hitting the streets! Mugatu: “Let me show you Derelicte. It is a fashion, a way of life inspired by the very homeless, the vagrants, the crack whores that make this wonderful city so unique.” ...

NBC Fall 2007 Television Line-Up Update: More Friday Night Lights
2007-05-11 10:58:00
A few weeks ago I detailed a few of the shows for each network’s fall 2007 television line-up. Here’s a quick run through some additional updates on NBC’s plans although the formal reveal on their fall schedule won’t be out until Monday: Friday Night Lights has been renewed despite its average of 6.1 million viewers. I know some people are really big on this show, but I’ve never seen a single episode. Maybe I need to add it to the DVR. If you’ve seen it let me know. Law & Order: Original & CI will soon have their fates determined. If the original version gets cut it’s likely to jump to TNT since it’s there 25 hours a day already. So far it’s been on for 17 years and if it goes another 3 it’ll meet the record set by Gunsmoke for longest running program. As far as Criminal Intent (CI), I couldn’t care less what happens to ol’ crooked head D’Onofrio. The Bionic Woman remake is heading your w ...
Weekend Movie Preview: Trailers & Details May 11 - 13
2007-05-11 10:00:14
Well last weekend Spider-Man 3 broke my heart. Ripped it right into two. But that’s okay, I’m over it and have moved on. Despite what a let down it was I’m sure it’ll continue on in its box office domination for several more weeks. If you’re wise enough to avoid it or wait for its DVD release then check out what’s coming out this weekend. You’ve got a decent mix here: zombie/horror, comedy, drama. Nothing looks too friendly for the kiddies as the lowest rating is PG-13. After looking through the three new movie options this weekend I get the feeling that it’s more like just one movie is coming out, the last two may look and smell like movies, but I ain’t touching ‘em. Here are all your movie details & trailers for this weekend, May 11 - 13. Also, it’s not too late to enter our contest to win a linkback from our Page Rank 4 site. 28 Weeks Later Director: Juan Carlos Fresnadillo Starring: Jeremy Renner, ...
