Dancing with the Stars Finals Recap: Week 10

“America’s Favorite Ballroom”
Each of the couples will be preforming two dance routines. In the first ballroom round the couples will be performing a dance selected for them by the judges. The second round tonight is the freestyle round where all of the ballroom rules get thrown out the window. I know they are all looking forward to this round. Each of the couples will also perform a final judged dance tomorrow night during the Grand Finale.
Round 1: Judges Choice
Laila Ali & Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Dance: Paso Doble
This was a good routine full of passion, but Laila just doesn’t have the grace and elegance to pull it off. Len and Carrie Ann loved it. Bruno thought it was, “A tidal wave of passion.” He even thought this was their best performance to date. I certainly wouldn’t go that far, it was very good.

The Bachelor, An Officer and a Gentleman: Season Finale
Tonight’s the night! Andy decides who gets a ring and who gets a broken heart. ABC is billing it as “The most romantic season finale ever.” Before he has to make his final decision, Andy brought both of the girls home to meet his parents, his sister, and his grandparents in Lancaster, PA. After which each of the girls had one final date with Andy to prove that she was the one for him.
Tessa’s Visit:
Tessa was lucky enough to go first which I always think is a benefit because you get to make the first impression and the other girl will be compared to you. Andy’s Mom liked Tessa and described her as “bright, poised, natural, and real.” She felt drawn to Tessa immediately. Andy’s grandfather who was a lovable old codger thought Tessa was, “A viable candidate.” The Baldwins interrogated her over dinner about religion, the future. Hot damn, here we go with the season finale of Heroes tonight on NBC. I was happy to see Eric Roberts go last week as I’m not a big fan of his, but man, Linderman too?! Geez, at this rate there won’t be anyone left for a second season!
In this clip we see that HRG comes up with a plan to stop Sylar’s plans of fusion. Can they pull it off? I don’t know, I’m thinking that bomb is going to happen no matter what.

Spider-Man 3: Another Review

Despite Matt’s mediocre review of Spider-Man 3 I went to go see Spider-Man 3 this weekend anyway. I believe that your take on this movie will be based on your expectations going in to it. Matt had very high expectations and they weren’t met. Thanks to Matt’s review I had very low expectations and so mine were exceeded. Was this the best Spider-Man movie yet as some have claimed? No, certainly not but, did I enjoy it? You bet.
The movie was definitely longer than it needed to be. My son was of the opinion that they could have cut out all the “romance stuff”. I wouldn’t completely agree but they could have cut it down. There were some other totally extraneous scenes which I could have done without like when J. Jonah Jameson, the newspaper editor, has to buy a camera off a little girl for a hundred buck. These two performers, Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks, didn’t reach the finale show of American Idol Season 6 by accident, well… nah, I won’t say it. Nearly every week the judges chastised someone for poor song selections and if you want to make it through this contest you have to be careful to make the best possible choices as stinker can sink you fast. The real challenges come when a singer gets pitted against a genre that strongly contrasts his or her niche. But being able to pull through those weeks can demonstrate the singer’s range and potential for great performances. All right boys and girls, this is it! The finals! With the loss of Ian & Cheryl in last week’s Semi-Finals, we are down to the three couples who will be competing for this season’s Dancing with the Stars Championship:

In preparation for the big finale the final three stars appeared on Larry King. Although I really like Larry (I do), he doesn’t typically ask the hard hitting questions you expect from most CNN journalists. For example, he asked them about each of the other stars who were all ready knocked out. Of course, everyone was very diplomatic and said nothing but nice things about them. They also brought out the professionals to sit with their stars. Larry asks each of them about how it was dancing with their partner. What are they going to say? They were all also very nice. The Bachelor, An Officer and a Gentleman: Preview.
We’re down to the final two ladies, Bevin and Tessa. Tonight is the night Andy decides which girl gets a ring. During the first part of tonight’s two hour season finale, Andy will first take Bevin and Tessa back to his hometown of Lancaster, PA to meet his family.
Despite the reports which have been floating around the internet regarding the girl he picked blowing the secret, I am still excited to see tonight’s show. The debate over which one he will select tonight has been raging in the comments on WBM’s article about last week’s episode. I know who I think it is going to be. My guess is Tessa. Ever since he came out and actually asked her to stay on the show I have been convinced it was her and I still think so. HBO?s The Sopranos: The Final Episodes (episode 7) Recap and Review

Finally, HBO gave us a decent episode. It wasn’t one of their best but, it was so much better than the past three or four that it seems to stand out.
AJ starts out the episode doing his dark and brooding routine. Until this episode, I haven’t been very impressed by this story line. Neither his meds nor his psychiatrist are helping. When the rest of the Sopranos leave him home alone, AJ decide to tie a cinder block to his ankle and throw himself off of the diving board into the pool. Even more than Christopher’s death last week, this one made me actually sit up in surprise. Once he is underwater AJ realizes that this isn’t such a good plan and begins fighting for his life. Fortunately for him the rope is long enough that he can get some air. Tony arrives home and hears AJ calling for help as he clings to the diving board by his finger tips. Tony dives in and rescues his beleaguered son. AJ get carted off to the psych ward.

Poker has been steadily gaining in popularity over the past decade. Many big name Hollywood actors and actresses have been seen entering poker tournaments in Las Vegas and L.A. So it was only a matter of time before poker hit the big screen again.
Lucky You revolves around the romance of Huck Cheever (played By Eric Bana), a poker pro with issues and the big-hearted singer from Bakersfield, Billie Offer (played by Drew Barrymore). The story is set against the backdrop of the 2003 World Series of Poker. Here, Cheever tends to let his skills take a back seat at the poker table to his emotions particularly when facing his father, L.C. Cheever played by Robert Duvall.
