HBO?s The Sopranos: The Final Episodes (episode 9) Recap and Review
2007-06-10 21:20:46
The Final Episode. Tony and his family (both immediate and mafia) are still in hiding. They all go to Bobby’s funeral (I still can’t believe they killed Bobby). Tony meets with Agent Dwight at Newark Airport gives him more info on Arabs in hopes that Agent Dwight will help him find Phil. Agent Dwight tells him no way. Phil is pissed that Tony isn’t dead yet. Phil’s lieutenant wants to reach out but, Phil says no way. Tony meets with him at a neutral meeting place. They agree that the war should end while he wont give them Phil he understands that Tony has to do what he has to do and they will pay Janis for killing Bobby. So the Soprano family gets to move back home. Agent Dwight calls Tony on his cell and tells him the FBI has traced Phil’s calls to a certain pay phone. They find out that only a few stations have them anymore. Eventually Phil shows up at one and gets popped. AJ’s continuous lectures on how messed up America and the world are ...
Weekend Movie Box Office Round-up: June 8 - 10, 2007
2007-06-10 14:04:10
No surprises here with this weekend’s release of new movies. Ocean’s Thirteen (preview) easily took the top spot in the box office earnings by nearly doubling the second place earner, Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Knocked Up (review) held a pretty good percentage of its earnings to get the #3 spot and beat out the other new comer, Surf’s Up (preview). I was surprised that Surf’s Up, $18M, didn’t place higher considering its appeal to a wider audience, including children. The third new release, Hostel Part II, wasn’t able to break the $10 million mark, but did earn the #6 spot just over Mr. Brooks (review). Also of interest, I can’t remember the last time I saw a Top 10 box office earner pull in less than $1M, but there sits Disturbia at #10 with $0.5M. If you missed any of the background on the new releases check out our Weekend Movie Preview with trailers and details. Box office earnings for movies this weekend, June 8 - 10, 2007: & ...

Chinese Fighting TV Show: UFC?s Got Nothing On This
2007-06-08 12:00:31
Chinese television has struck an awesome sounding new chord in fighting entertainment. This made-for-TV series pits Chinese fighters from all over the array of disciplines against each other in a no holds barred all-out fighting extravaganza. The fighters go until someone is knocked out or one of the contestants submits to the other. They’ve even included text message voting with the live web feeds and television broadcast, making this one serious contender. The video below is chock full of the fighting and plenty of funny quotes. These fighters are competing for quick riches which rival the annual salary of a taxi-driver. They really seem to get away with anything too as you can see one of the fighters trying to kick the other in the face as soon as he falls. Awesome. Don’t get too excited though as I doubt we’ll see this particular show over here anytime soon. But I’m told that we have plenty of MMA (Multiple Martial Arts) events going on in the U.S. ...
Weekend Movie Preview: Trailers & Details June 8 - 10, 2007
2007-06-08 10:00:07
It’s movie time again and we’re right back into our trilogy films series after a brief reprieve last weekend. While Knocked Up wasn’t able to dethrone the current box office champ, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, I think we’ll easily see a new king this time around. That would of course be Ocean’s 13 starring George Cloney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon (read our preview of Ocean’s 13). There will also be a good family film option with the CGI Surf’s Up (yep, we previewed Surf’s Up as well). Finally, you’ll also find a very non-family-friendly film with Hostel II. Now I love a good scary movie, but gore for the sake of gore doesn’t entertain me, so I’m going to pass on this one. If none of these movies interest you or you want to wait to avoid the Ocean’s 13 crowd then I would make a couple of recommendations from last week’s releases. Both Knocked Up and Mr. Brooks turned out to be pretty good films wi ...
Mr. Brooks: Movie Review
2007-06-08 09:06:49
Mr. Brooks Director: Bruce A. Evans Starring: Kevin Costner, Demi Moore, William Hurt, and Dane Cook Genre: Drama, Thriller and Crime/Gangster Duration: 2 hrs. Rated: R for strong bloody violence, some graphic sexual content, nudity and language. Plot: Consider Mr. Brooks: a successful businessman; a generous philanthropist; a loving father and devoted husband. Seemingly, he’s perfect. But Mr. Brooks has a secret–he is an insatiable serial killer, so lethally clever that no one has ever suspected him–until now. Earl Brooks is a man who has managed to keep his two incompatible worlds from intersecting by controlling his cunning, wicked alter ego. A simple mistake puts all of that in danger. My review: I had been looking forward to this one since seeing the trailer for it as I’m a big fan of dark thrillers. Mr. Brooks is definitely a dark themed semi-mystery, but mostly thriller. Kevin Costner does a great job playing the mild-mannered, responsible cit ...
Awesome Vader Helmets: Darth Vader turns Hippie
2007-06-08 08:00:23
After decades of grinding the galaxy under his imperial boot heel and his defeat at the hands of a rag tag band of rebel scum, Darth Vader has finally learned how to mellow out and relax. Vader was quoted as saying, “Peace and love, baby. That’s what it’s all about dude. Peace and love.” Actually this is one of the artistically-altered Darth Vader heads on display at the “Star Wars Celebration IV” convention, which was held in Los Angeles last week. This years convention includes many additional features to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the release of the the original Star Wars movie which has also included the release of a series of Star Wars Stamps from the U.S. Postal Service. ...
Isaiah Washington?s Contract Dropped By Grey?s Anatomy
2007-06-08 07:12:23
Apparently Isaiah Washington’s plans redeem himself through PSAs in support of gay rights wasn’t cutting it with ABC as he has lost his job as Burke on the hit series Grey’s Anatomy. The problems for Washington began roughly five months ago when he used an anti-gay term to describe fellow cast mate T.R. Knight. He then went on to use the slur again on television when he denied using it the first time. Smart. Isaiah Washington released a statement through his publicist which said: I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore. This comes as only somewhat surprising after initial rumors that Washington’s contract had been renewed by ABC. However, viewers of the series are likely not surprised considering the recent storyline with his character on Grey’s Anatomy. The May finale ended with the departure of his character, Burke, after a failed attempt at a wedding with Dr. Yang, played by Sandra Oh. Not sure how he didn’t ...
Pirate Master Recap - (Episode 2) 6/7/07
2007-06-07 22:52:54
As this week’s episode of Pirate Master begins we get introduced to a few more personalities. Kendra is a bit of a daredevil (well you wouldn’t find me up there!) as she professes her love for climbing to the top of the masts. Then there is “Azmyth” (um, okay, sure) that claims to be a “jolly pirate” and he’ll be sure to look out for the best for all his fellow pirates. Nice shaving style on your beard there “Azmyth”. Now on to the first set of grumblings from the crew. They’re unhappy with their food conditions and I don’t blame them. Each crew member gets a few spoonfuls of gruel while the captain, Joe Don, and his officers receive an awesome breakfast of eggs with peppers and onions, some steak, bacon, and even fruit. That’s definitely a good bit rough of a deal and will only drive the wedge further between the have’s and the have-not’s. The Zanzibar Chest Here the teams are once again ...

Pirate Master: Pirate Humor Warm-Up
2007-06-07 17:15:13
Since I know all you swashbucklers are just sitting around getting psyched up for tonight’s episode I thought I’d share some pirate humor to help get you ready. Remember to get the full stretch of the exercise you’ll need to laugh like a pirate too. So instead of “ha ha ha” you need more of an “arr arr arr”. See? Good. Pirates have decided to really embrace technology and have even gone so far as to develop their own keyboard to help them along: If you missed last week’s episode of Pirate Master it’s not too late to still get in on the fun. Tonight the second episode of Pirate Master will be on CBS at 8pm. If you really, really wanna be prepared you can even go back and read all about the storyline and ideas behind the show with our Pirate Master Preview. Check out the rest of our Pirate Master coverage. ...

Ocean?s 13: Pitt, Clooney, & Damon Make Their Mark in Cement
2007-06-07 14:00:43
As part of the promotion for the upcoming Ocean’s Thirteen (13) movie release this weekend the stars of the film were out at the Chinese Theater yesterday. Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, and producer Jerry Weintraub were honored with receiving their own cement squares to leave their footprints, handprints, and signatures to be forever immortalized. The video below shows them all taking it very seriously. George Clooney makes a joke about how he wouldn’t want to be on his hands and knees with any other guys. Brad Pitt does his Hollywood-cool look with his shades permanently attached. Then there’s poor Matt Damon who gets labeled on-screen by the AP as “Brad Pitt” when it’s his turn to speak. No matter how they decided to treat this event their new movie definitely looks entertaining. Check out our preview of Ocean’s Thirteen (13). ...
Indiana Jones 4: Update - Sean Connery Is Officially Out
2007-06-07 12:58:41
Well look how wrong I turned out to be (that’s gotta be a first, right?). Sean Connery has now officially confirmed that he will not be back for the fourth installment of Indiana Jones where he was set to reprise his role as Indy’s father from 1989’s “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade“. Connery left a lengthy message on the official website for Indiana Jones: “I get asked the question so often, I thought it best to make an announcement. I thought long and hard about it and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an Indiana Jones film. I love working with Steven and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son. But in the end, retirement is just too damned much fun. I, do however, have one bit of advice for Junior: Demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt c ...
Coming Soon: I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry - Trailer & Details
2007-06-07 12:00:39
I’m glad to see Adam Sandler returning to his comedic roots as he joins forces with Kevin James in their new movie, “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry”. This might not look like it’s entirely something new, but it could probably still be funny. Sorta “Green Card” meets “The Odd Couple” here with the faking a marriage to gain something and their quirky personalities conflicting, yet somehow it all works out. Well at least they certainly did right to cast Jessica Biel as the eye candy. Recently Biel complained that she’s so sexy it has cost her roles in the past. Yeah, I’ve got that problem too. I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry - Plot: Chuck Levine and Larry Valentine are the pride of their fire station: two guy’s guys always side-by-side and willing to do anything for each other. Grateful Chuck owes Larry for saving his life in a fire, and Larry calls in that favor big time when civic red tape prevents h ...
