Manhunt 2 Video Game Banned in the UK
2007-06-19 20:17:28
Manhunt 2, put out by Rockstar Games, has been denied approval for sale in the UK, effectively banning it in the country. The ban was decided upon by the British Board of Film Classification based on the games’ “focus on stalking and brutal slaying.” This is the same game that prompted an effort to block a Nintendo Wii themed toy giveaway at Wendy’s restaurants just because Manhunt 2 will be available on the Wii. The plot of Manhunt 2, according to GameStop: “An experiment at a secret research facility has gone catastrophically wrong. Daniel is sent to the Dixmor Asylum, where six years later a freakish storm of lightning hits the power, leaving it dark and haunting. Daniel Lamb and Leo Kasper are the only surviving subjects. The Pickman Project will stop at nothing to hunt them down and stop the truth from getting out. Demented screams echo around the dank asylum that has caged you for the last six years. You open your eyes. A white-coated body slumps ...

Josh Duhamel Calls Girlfriend Fergie a ?Real Total Star?
2007-06-19 10:57:36
Josh Duhamel, 35, of TV’s “Las Vegas” told Best Life mag that his girlfriend Fergie, 32, of the Black Eyed Peas is “a real total star… She’s just got a great soul.” He goes on to explain that Fergie has a lot to offer. “A girl like Fergie comes with stuff ? a lot of stuff,” Duhamel says. Sure, I mean that makes sense. When you’re too busy to not piss your own pants then you’re probably also too busy to wash them. She’s probably gotta keep 5 pairs of pants around everyday. Show business is tough stuff! Duhamel has his first big movie coming this summer with Michael Bay’s Transformers (check out our Transformers preview). Let’s see if that buys him a little more street cred than “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!” Source: Y! News ...
Surf?s Up: Movie Review
2007-06-19 10:00:21
Surf’s Up is the tale of a young penguin, Cody Maverick from Shiverpoole Antarctica, who dreams of being a surfing superstar. He realizes his dream with the help of some friends: Chicken Joe, Lani, and the Geek. Along the way he also learns some important lessons about life as well as surfing. Surf’s Up was not hysterically funny but there are definitely some parts that will make you chuckle. The story was good but totally predictable. There are no surprises or plot twists in this film. My favorite part of this film is the basic philosophy of life it drills home. If you live in an area like we do where everything the kids do, from sports, to scholastics, to who lost the most teeth earliest, is ultra competitive, the lessons taught by this movie will strike home. Basically, it isn’t winning but enjoying the activities you choose which counts. The kids enjoyed it, but they’ll pretty much enjoy anything animated as long as they have popcorn and candy. T ...
Big Brother 8: New Season, But More of the Same Characters?
2007-06-19 08:00:17
Last summer we had an exciting season with Big Brother All-Stars. The audience was once again reunited with all our favorite (and not-so-favorite) houseguests making for a very entertaining summer of shows. This year we’re back to getting a whole new set of faces to keep us laughing and grumbling for the next few months. Having watched this series since the first episode way back in 2000 I’ve noticed what seems to be guided casting. The faces are new, but the characters remain the same. How many of these “Big Brother Characters” will be back this year? Is it time for a new set of characters? We’ll know the answer to that in just about two weeks. Until then let’s take a look at what I’m guessing we’ll see based on what we’ve had in the first six seasons. I’m skipping All-Stars since they were really the same houseguests all over. Season 1 was also a little difficult to incorporate since it was run so much differe ...
Hell?s Kitchen Recap and Review: Season 3 Episode 3 - 6/18/07
2007-06-18 21:41:17
Tonight’s episode began with some introspection on the part of the blue team after their lose last week. Josh thought that Aaron needed to go home. Rock’s opinion was that Josh should stop trying to be the leader because they are all equals and Josh stinks as a leader. Challenge The teams were woken up early by a live rendition of Revelly. Aaron actually needed two of the other guys to help him get dressed and get down stairs in time. Hell’s Kitchen opened for breakfast for the first time ever to serve 50 soldiers and 50 sailors. Joanna thought the uniforms were sexy. While Julia had tears in their eyes. The 1st team to complete breakfast service would win the challenge. Julia was in her element and the acknowledged leader of the red team. Some of the red teams plates were sent back with cold hashbrowns because of Joanna. The blue team was completely disorganized. Aaron was in charge of the omlette station, where he began by starting a fire and burning omlet ...
Age of Love: Episode 1 ?Meet the Cougars? Recap - June 18, 2007
2007-06-18 21:35:56
Tonight is the first episode of NBC’s new show Age of Love starring Mark Philippoussis as the show’s bachelor. Mark, a 30 year old tennis star, will have the challenge of selecting a woman from two groups of contenders. The first group, Cougars, is made up of women in their 40s (although there is one who just turned 39 this week, can you guess which one?) and the other group, Kittens, consisting of women all in their 20s. So the big question is, “does age matter when it comes to love?” Let’s find out how much it matters to Mark. The show opens with our Cougars making their way to their new home for the duration of the show. They are all very friendly and happy together as they go around the group declaring their ages to one another. Next the ladies meet Age of Love’s host, Mark Consuelos, who promises the show has found them their ideal man and introduces them to bachelor Mark through a welcome video. All of the Cougars are very wowed a ...
The Stork Delivers for Julia Roberts
2007-06-18 14:23:35
Congratulations to parents Julia Roberts and her husband Danny Moder as Roberts has just delivered the couple’s new baby boy, Henry Daniel Moder. Robert’s rep, Marcy Engelman, said everyone is doing great. Henry was born this afternoon weighing in at 8.5 pounds. This is the third child for the couple who have twins Hazel and Phinnaeus. Hmm, I think Phinnaeus may grow up with issues over being the oddly named child of the bunch. Hazel isn’t really that much better for a girl these days, unless Roberts gave birth to an 85 year old grandmother. Wait, let me check. Nope, Hazel and Phinnaeus just turned 2 last winter. Ah well. ...
Don?t Miss TV: June 18 - 22, 2007
2007-06-18 12:00:55
It’s another week of television shows coming at you and we’re here to help. Here’s a break down by night of what you need to be sure to catch and what’s going on this week, June 18 - 22, 2007. Lots of reality TV again this week along with a few new series starting up. I’ve really been enjoying Pirate Master and Hell’s Kitchen. I’m also really getting pumped up for Big Brother 8 coming soon. Take a look and see what other shows you don’t want to miss this week. Monday: Creature Comforts: 8-8:30pm on CBS; Winter; The Zoo - Topics include winter and zoos. Very descriptive, I know. Hell’s Kitchen: 9-10pm on Fox; The 10 remaining contestants cook breakfast for visiting servicemen and women. Members of the winning team receive a day of R&R while the losers aren’t so lucky. Get ready for the losing team to really screw up this week. One of their dishes turns out to be potentially poisonous and Ramsay is anything ...
NBC?s New Reality TV Show: Age of Love
2007-06-18 10:00:33
Anyone planning to watch NBC’s new reality show starting tonight, Age of Love? The premise is a 30 year old male tennis star, Mark Philippoussis goes on a dating show and discovers he’s about to be caught in the middle of two groups of women. The first group he meets are the Cougars: women in their 40s; the second group are the Kittens: women in their 20s. He’ll spend the season getting to know them and presumably down select each week as the show moves along. Ultimately he’ll be poised to select one lady overall. Will it be a Cougar or a Kitten?? If you watch the trailer below you’ll notice that these older women really don’t look that old at all. Otherwise it wouldn’t be too tough of a choice, now would it? It kinda sounds like an interesting idea, but I’m also thinking that it’s sort of a reality TV mash-up (check out Steve’s Reality TV Mash-Up ideas) where they took Average Joe and worked it in with The Bache ...
Hell?s Kitchen Preview: Season 3 Episode 3 - 6/18/07
2007-06-18 09:00:42
Last week the men’s team totally blew it. Chef Ramsey actually threw them out of the kitchen. Rock as the least bad of the blue team was allowed to nominate two of his fellow chefs for elimination. Given the choice of Eddie and Josh, Chef Ramsey chose to send Eddie home after a series of mistakes in the kitchen. Tonight, the kitchen opens for breakfast to serve some of our troops. Then at the dinner service apparently one of the chefs really screws up and someone heads to the hospital. Of course no matter what happens we can count on Aaron to break down and start crying before the night is over. Check out the rest of our Hell’s Kitchen coverage! SirLinksaLot: Hell’s Kitchen ...
Kristy Swanson Arrested for Assault
2007-06-18 08:00:28
Kristy Swanson, the once beautiful Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Wow, that was 15 years ago.), was arrested in Ontario this past Saturday night. The assault complaint was filed against her by her boyfriend’s, Lloyd Eisler, ex-wife Marcia O’Brien. If you weren’t one of the 12 people watching last season’s FOX reality series Skating with Celebrities you might have missed that Swanson and Eisler were skating partners. After meeting through the show Eisler ditched his pregnant wife for Swanson. Nice. Swanson, in an interview with People, said she had to go to the police station for an appointment for the arrest process. What? You can get arrest appointments? I’ve never heard of such a thing and I would consider myself an expert of the legal system having watched nearly every Law & Order episode. Oh wait, that’s right, this was in Canada. I think I already covered the whole “Canada is like a lawless Wild West” thing. That all make ...
Pirate Master?s Pirate Ship: The Picton Castle
2007-06-18 07:00:48
Ever wonder where Mark Burnett and CBS found a some-what authentic square-rigged sailing ship to serve as the pirate ship for the premiere season of Pirate Master? Well wonder no more me hearties! She is the Barque Picton Castle, a sail training ship based in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada. Originally built in 1928 in wales as a fishing trawler, she served time as a mine sweeper during World War II. It wasn’t until 1996 that she was finally converted in to a square rigged sailing ship. The Picton Castle is 179 feet long, displaces 300 tons, and carries 12,500 square feet of sail. However her conversion from a minesweeper and fishing trawler into a barque alone was not a dramatic enough change for Mark Burnett and the folks at CBS. Before being used as the pirate’s base of operation in the show the Picton Castle required a Complete makeover. The changes included the construction of the elegant transom with pane-glass windows and beautifully detailed woodwork on the st ...

2007-06-18 06:00:14
This game will test your reaction time and ability to handle many things going on at once. Just keep your mouse moving to steer the blue ball as you try to dodge the red balls. Additional balls are added as time progresses. My top score was A- w/ 7 balls for 135 seconds. Can you beat it? Let me know if you do. ...
Weekend Movie Box Office Round-up: June 15 - 17, 2007
2007-06-17 13:55:26
Wow! The new release Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer blew the doors off the box office this weekend with an impressive pull of $57.4 million and easily took the number one spot on the charts. I’m not surprised at all that it took first place, but I wouldn’t have expected such a high return on the first weekend. I’d guess the cast is glad they put plenty of time in for all of those premiere events. The other new releases didn’t do so well. The kid friendly movie, Nancy Drew, came in at #7 with $7.1 million, which seems like a low number for what should have been a pre-sold movie considering it’s lengthy existence in print. I guess it did have a stack of animated kids’ movies (Surf’s Up & Shrek the Third) to compete with as well though. The slightly oddball looking horror-comedy Fido didn’t rank in the top 12 movies this weekend, but I believe it may have actually only been a limited release anyways. I am very ...
