The X-Files 2: A Movie Sequel Finally? Maybe? Really?
2007-07-16 08:00:50
“The X-Files” ran on TV from 1993-2002 and even managed to squeeze out a not-too-shabby movie in 1998. Since then things have been pretty quiet on the UFO front for Mulder and Scully. However, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that actor David Duchovny is expecting the script to a movie sequel very soon:
Duchovny said he is supposed to see a script in a week or so. Chris Carter has written it with Frank Spotnitz, Carter will direct, and Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are committed to the project. And Duchovny sounded excited about the film.
I’m glad to hear that both Carter and Spotnitz, the original X-Files writers are back on this one to help with a feeling of consistency. But I’m actually pretty surprised that both Duchovny and Anderson are tied to the project. I’d be willing to guess it’s a contractual obligation rather than of personal interest. After so many years of The X-Files I would think these actors would be ready to move on. ...

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: Movie Review
2007-07-16 07:00:33
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Gary Oldman, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman
Director: David Yates
Genre: Adventure / Drama / Family / Fantasy
Duration: 2hr 18 mins
Rated: Rated PG-13 for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images.
Plot: As his fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry approaches, 15-year-old Harry Potter is in full-blown adolescence, complete with regular outbursts of rage, a nearly debilitating crush, and the blooming of a powerful sense of rebellion. It’s been yet another infuriating and boring summer with the despicable Dursleys, this time with minimal contact from our hero’s non-Muggle friends from school. Harry is feeling especially edgy at the lack of news from the magic world, wondering when the freshly revived evil Lord Voldemort will strike. Returning to Hogwarts will be a relief–or will it?
My Review: Let me first start by saying I really enjoyed watchi ...

Big Brother 8: Week 2 Nominations Recap - July 15, 2007
2007-07-15 21:00:35
Spoiler Free Zone ahead: We may know what’s going on with the live feeds, but for now we’ll keep this from ruining any broadcast surprises.
Right off the bat, Jen answered my question from Thursday night and admitted she was the only one who voted for Amber. That surprised me. I figured it had to be Joe because Dustin and Amber were so close. Jen was very disappointed in her pictures. There was nothing more recent than her 21st birthday, there were none of her friends, and too many of her family! What a drama queen! She actually took down the picture the only picture with her mom in it because Jen didn’t have any makeup on in the picture! Could she possibly be anymore self centered?
Other than her HoH room, Jen totally loved being HoH. She loved being the center of attention. Having everyone come talk to her about who she should nominate. Joe went to talk to Jen to try to get her to put up Dick, Jessica, or Dustin. Jen was actually smart enough to figure out that sh ...

Weekend Movie Box Office Earnings Round-up: July 13 - 15, 2007
2007-07-15 14:46:44
Harry Potter toppled his competition this weekend at the box office and took in an impressive $77 million. That combined with the domestic earnings since its Wednesday release brings The Order of the Phoenix domestic movie earnings to $140 million. Combine that with the $190 million Harry Potter earned in another 44 countries and you have a juggernaut rolling through theaters. Transformers, which may or may not have included robots, dropped its earnings by roughly half this weekend to $36 million. If you’re looking for the other new release, Captivity, you won’t find it here in the top 10 box office earnings. Captivity earned just $1.5 million, putting it around the #12 spot this weekend. I guess torture / horror films aren’t doing as hot as the studios were hoping. Here they are, your box office movie earnings for this weekend: July 13 - 15, 2007.
If you missed any of the background on the new releases check out our Weekend Movie Preview with trailers an ...

Big Brother 8: Week 2 Nominations Preview - July 15, 2007
2007-07-15 09:00:52
Spoiler Free Zone ahead: We may know what’s going on with the live feeds, but for now we’ll keep this from ruining any broadcast surprises.
On Thursday night’s show, Amber the sobbing single-mom and Carol the former middle school BFF were still up for eviction after Danielle decided not to use her Power of Veto to save either of them. CBS totally fooled us into thinking the house was split over who to vote for when in the end Carol was sent to the couch with Julie Chen by a vote of 10 to 1! It has to suck to be the first person to be sent home but to be sent home first by a landslide too. Ouch! Jessica the other former BFF couldn’t be happier. In the HoH competition, I could not believe that Jen won. I wish it would have been anyone else. I wanted her to go home so bad this week and she’s only been on for a week. I can’t imagine having to actually live with her.
Jen really doesn’t have any alliances yet so its hard to guess who she mig ...

Entertainment Week In Review: July 9 - 13, 2007
2007-07-14 10:00:40
Here are your entertainment news highlights from this past week: July 9 - 13, 2007.
Monday: Avril Lavigne is being sued by a 70’s band over her “Girlfriend” song for too many of the lyrics being too close. I always figured the first lawsuit would come from Boy George for stealing his look.
Tuesday: Kim Cattrall has finally come to her financial senses and is ready to move forward on the Sex and the City movie. The movie is rumored to be titled, “The Golden Years” and will focus on the elderly cast’s daily challenges like understanding their new Medicare prescriptions, working on crossword puzzles, and shoo’ing those pesky neighborhood kids from their front porch.
Wednesday: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix broke out to big numbers in theaters. My complete lack of Harry Potter knowledge prevents me from cracking a single joke, so let’s move on.
Thursday: Katharine McPhee is joining the new Happy Madison film project where ...

Big Brother 8: Where Carol Went Wrong
2007-07-13 16:37:56
Last night we saw Carol heading out the door as the first evictee of Big Brother 8. With such a short stay it’s interesting to take a look back and see where this quiet, short time BB8 player went wrong in a “three-strikes” fashion. The first strike against Carol was that she came into this game as part of the Big Brother twist “Worst Enemies”. While her part of this theme was a weak, at best, grudge between Carol and fellow housemate Jessica, it likely put her on at least a slight edge. Although it appears Carol was able to quickly move past her dated feud it was clear up to the end that Jessica had not. Walking into the Big Brother house with no friends is always better than walking with someone that doesn’t like you and is willing to share that dislike amongst the others. Jessica wasn’t shy about her feelings on Carol and freely spread that attitude around the house. Carol’s first strike was that having someone against you is ...

Weekend Movie Preview: Trailers & Details July 13 - 15, 2007
2007-07-13 10:00:43
Last weekend might have broken a big record with the release of Transformers, but I think it’s safe to say Optimus Prime will be dethroned as Harry Potter arrives. Coming in for his 5th film in the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is sure to rock the box office and fill the seats. If torture is more your thing over magic then Captivity, the horror-thriller, may be just your movie. Elisha Cuthbert serves up a sexy role in this scary flick. There are 4 more movies coming out in limited release: Interview, My Best Friend, Shortcut to Happiness, and Talk to Me. The last one stars Don Cheadle who plays the real life role of an ex-convict who becomes a famous TV and radio personality in the 60’s. Out of all of these movies Talk to Me interests me the most as I nearly always Don Cheadle in movies. What are your movie plans for this weekend?
Here are all your movie details & trailers for this weekend, July 13 - 15, 2007.

The Return of Dark Helmet
2007-07-13 09:00:16
“Yes. We’re gonna have go right to… ludicrous speed.” One of the funniest movies of all times returns this fall to the small screen. Mel Brooks’ Spaceballs has been turned into an animated series by MGM TV and will air this fall on Comcast’s G4. The series will kick-off with a one hour pilot followed by 13 half-hour episodes. Spaceballs, which was originally released in 1987, became a cult classic over the next decade on cable and DVD.
It’s disappointing that the show will only be on G4. While G4 technically has 59 million subscribers the number of them that actually watch G4 is probably pretty small. This unfortunately also makes me question the quality of the series since none of the bigger cable networks, like Cartoon Network, picked it up. One thing that gives me hope is that Mel Brooks and one of the other writers from the originally movie, Thomas Meehan, wrote the pilot and Meehan was involved in writing the rest of the series. Mel Broo ...

Jessica Simpson: Bring On the Plastic Surgery
2007-07-13 08:00:10
Jessica Simpson, in an interview with Bazaar magazine, says she’d consider plastic surgery. Again, right? Not according to Simpson, “I’ve had none, but maybe after having kids, if my boobs dropped down to my belly button, I would get them lifted. … Maintenance. But you know, my boobs are real.”
Sure, those things might be real, but her nose and bigger eyes sure aren’t. Maybe she had the same “no plastic surgery” that her sister had as well. Sister Ashlee also denied have any surgery, despite a very changed profile last year. Jessica denies the rumors of her work, “People have said that I’ve had things like a jaw replacement or implant or something. I’m photographed every day of my life and have never worn any bandages or anything, so how could that be right?” Yeah, now they watch her each day, but that’s post-Newlyweds. Before that Simpson had years to get the work done while she was hidden in the s ...

Big Brother 8: Week 1 Eviction Recap - July 12, 2007
2007-07-12 21:18:11
Foreword: Big Brother Season 8 is now in full swing and to avoid missing any current details you’ll want to check out the online, uncensored live feeds (14 day free trial) and see what is going on right now.
Amber and Carol on the chopping block. I was disappointed on Tuesday that Danielle didn’t use the Power of Veto. I would love to see Jen go instead of Amber and Carol. As soon as the show started and the girls were sitting there with the rest of the house guests Amber looked like someone just ran over her dog. Julie asked Jen a question and she was such a dummy “I don’t know, why do I get asked a question?” Cause your an idiot!
As they showed what when on in the house over the past two days, it was interesting to see that both girls felt they had the votes to stay.
The Mrs. Robinson alliance wanted to decide together who to keep and who to get rid of. Jen barges in on Kail plotting with her boys, (of course wearing nothing but a towel), the guy ...

Katharine McPhee Is Ready to Get ?Happy? With A New Movie
2007-07-12 12:27:02
American Idol runner-up, Katharine McPhee, is about to add another line to her acting resume. This time it’ll be a comedy put out by Happy Madison, Adam Sandler’s production company. This will be at least McPhee’s second movie as she’s currently set to appear in the dark comedy, “The Last Caller.”
Happy Madison has put out such quality films as “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo”, “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star”, and “The Benchwarmers”. This new, untitled project looks to be a remake of Animal House, only with an sorority instead of the frat like last time. Katharine McPhee will take on the role of a pregnant hippie and will be joined by slapstick comedy veteran Anna Faris.
While this probably won’t be great, as most of Happy Madison’s projects aren’t, it’s likely to still have its moments and be fun. I’m hoping Katharine McPhee can pull off a comedy as she seems well suite ...

Coming Soon: The Simpsons Movie
2007-07-12 12:00:43
After 18 years The Simpsons are finally making their way to the big screen. Creator Matt Groening has credited his lack of time for the nearly decades of delay. But that’s okay, we’ll forgive him, because we finally get our The Simpsons movie. I saw the trailer again before Transformers (eww, yuck) and am really looking forward to seeing this one. After 400+ episodes I think it’ll be nearly impossible to come up with anything too terribly new for storylines, but I’m sure they’ll have plenty of new jokes for us.
The Simpsons Movie - Plot:
When Homer mistakenly pollutes the river with toxic waste from the power plant, he loses his job and forces evacuation from Springfield, possibly forever. D’oh.
The Simpsons Movie - Details:
Release Date: July 27, 2007
Genre: Animation / Comedy
Starring: Dan Castellaneta, Nancy Cartwright, Hank Azaria
Director: David Silverman
Rating: PG-13 for irreverent humor throughout.
