Big Brother 8: Week 3 Nomination Preview - July 22, 2007
2007-07-22 09:00:41
Spoiler Free Zone ahead: We may know what’s going on with the live feeds, but for now we’ll keep this from ruining any broadcast surprises. Tonight should be a show. With Dick winning HoH on Thursday night, I can’t wait to see what is going to happen. I don’t think its going to be a big surprise who Dick nominates tonight. He and Jen are like oil and water. She just grates on his nerves and you may have noticed that Dick is neither a patient nor a quiet man. My guess is that Jen is A#1 nomination tonight. Considering her standing with the rest of the house I can’t imagine that she will not be enjoying a seat on the couch with Julie come Tuesday night. I already posted on my feelings about Jen on Friday. Dick’s other nomination has to be Kail. She told Dick she was going to vote for Joe and then she told him she would let him know if she changed her vote. Kail started campaigning to have Dick removed almost immediately. She even tried to get Danie ...
Weekend Humor: Rooftop Taste Test - Video
2007-07-21 12:00:43
This video is a little tough to explain, but it’s a couple of guys enjoying their lunch on a rooftop. The discussion suddenly turns heated as they debate tasting smells. See, that makes little sense, so I’ll stop explaining now. Feed Readers: click here to view the video ...

Big Brother 8: Where Joe Went Wrong
2007-07-21 11:00:15
On Thursday’s eviction show we saw ol’ Joe hit the road after yet another mighty All vs. 1 vote (9 - 1 this time around, last week was 10 - 1 against Carol). So with such a strong house reaction to this nominee it’s worth taking a look at Joe’s three biggest strikes that caused his downfall. The first strike in the series was evident from the very first episode when we were treated to Joe’s loudmouth approach to everything. Watching Joe proclaim to 10 strangers, plus America mind you, that he suspected a past flame of giving him gonorrhea was a clear indicator this guy would hold nothing back. Being loud and obnoxious can draw you attention, but when you do it in a hateful way it’s gonna burn you. That incident wasn’t Joe’s only “loudmouth” offense. He was often quick to argue and slow to restraint. He seemed to enjoy making a dramatic show of things in front of everyone, including his argument with Jen regarding her ...

Smashing Pumpkins’ Return; Any Fans Still There?
2007-07-20 12:00:27
The Smashing Pumpkins are returning, well mostly. The “reunion” of the band will really only involve the lead singer, Billy Corgan, and drummer, Jimmy Chamberlin. The other roles were filled in by substitutes at their recent Live Earth performance. A new Smashing Pumpkins album, Zeitgeist, was just released last week. You might be thinking, “but didn’t Billy Corgan already try having a band called Zwan with him, Jimmy Chamberlin, and a couple of subs?” Why yes, you are correct. But you see, no one was buying Zwan albums like they were buying Smashing Pumpkin albums back in the day. Then again, no one is buy those great big clocks that swing around your chest like a necklace anymore either. Coincidence? Doubtful. Feed Readers: click here to view the video ...
Weekend Movie Preview: Trailers & Details July 20 - 22, 2007
2007-07-20 10:00:13
It is time for the weekend again, so here are your weekend movie previews for July 20 - 22, 2007. No more sequels, just good wholesome entertainment. You’ve got a good run of options to select from, including a comedy, sci-fi thriller, teen slasher horror, and some completely unnecessary musical remake starring a finally liberated John Travolta in drag. That’s interesting because Scientology doesn’t believe in homosexuality. Then again they don’t believe in autism either, which sucks for Travolta’s autistic son. Your comedy option, Chuck and Larry, runs for nearly 2.5 hours which means you’re likely to get more of a “thinker” comedy than a silly, happy one. The sci-fi thriller, Sunshine, looks very awesome and that’s what I’m planning to see right away. The horror flick, Mandy Lane, doesn’t look too bad either though. So, what are your movie plans for this weekend? Here are all your movie details & trail ...

Big Brother 8: Jen, The Jenuine Jenius!
2007-07-20 09:00:02
Spoiler Free Zone ahead: We may know what’s going on with the live feeds, but for now we’ll keep this discussion to our broadcast show speculations. In a mere two weeks Jen has pretty much managed to anger or annoy just about everyone else in the house. Her constant discussions about her favorite topic, Jen, have literally driven several of the other house guests to drink. She drives me nuts, and I only have to watch her for an hour hour every few days. I just can’t imagine what it must be like to live with her. Without a doubt, the most amazing thing about Jen is that she seems completely oblivious to how everyone around her feels about her. She’s no Jenius that’s for sure. It’s shocking really. Despite Dick’s yelling and everyone else joking behind her back she doesn’t have a clue. She can’t seem to fathom the idea that everyone else in the world isn’t as enamored with her as she is. Neither, Dick and Daniele nor Joe ...
Ace Ventura 3: Alrrighty NO!
2007-07-20 08:00:41
In the continued support of “ideas are dead in Hollywood” it looks like, well, ideas are dead in Hollywood. 12 years after the last installment of Jim Carrey’s Ace Ventura: Pet Detective the franchise looks to be renewed for some terrible reason. The first one was great, the second was not, and from following the line chart this series has already plotted I think it’s safe to assume the third one will be complete crap. To help ensure all chance of humor is removed the story will replace Ace Ventura with… Ace Ventura’s kid. Awesome! Wait, what? The plot is rumored to revolve around the kid trying to solve a mystery when his mother is arrested for allegedly stealing a panda. Since when is that illegal? The starring role is set to feature Josh Flitter of the recent movies: Nancy Drew and License to Wed. Wow, with a track record like that he’s sure to be great! The writers are Jason Heimberg, Justin Heimberg and Jeff Sank along with D ...
Big Brother 8: Week 2 Eviction Recap - July 19, 2007
2007-07-19 20:14:28
Foreword: Big Brother Season 8 is now in full swing and to avoid missing any current details you’ll want to check out the online, uncensored live feeds (14 day free trial) and see what is going on right now. After Tuesday night’s Power of Veto show tonight, it will be either Dick or Joe headed home. Dick is convinced that he has a better chance to stay because he has formed more and better personal relationships that Joe did. Joe’s thoughts about being nominated against Dick, “I’m pretty much screwed.” Joe started campaigning really hard to stay. Dick called Kail on her alliance with Mike and Zach. He told her that everyone knew about it and it was just going to make her a target. Kail went straight to Mike and said that Evil Dick had to go. She even went to Daniele and tried to convince her to vote Dick out. Wow, that’s cold. Kail is in for it. She told Dick she would tell him if she was going to vote for him. Daniele told Dick what Kail ...
Coming Soon: 88 Minutes
2007-07-19 12:00:10
Al Pacino is a pretty high class actor, so I’m hoping this gets edited to look a little better than it does currently. Pacino appears to take on the womanizing role of an expert witness who gets caught in the crossfire over the pending execution of someone he testified against. He gets the call that he has 88 minutes to live and has to figure things out quickly. The idea reminds me a lot of “Nick of Time” with Johnny Depp and Christopher Walken many years ago. It tried to run in real time, a la “24″, but didn’t end up being terribly great. Maybe this will work out better than I’m envisioning now, which I’d gladly welcome. 88 Minutes - Details: Release Date: 2008 Genre: Action/Adventure, Suspense, Thriller Starring: Al Pacino Director: Jon Avnet Rating: Expected R 88 Minutes - Plot: This fast-paced thriller stars Al Pacino as a college professor / forensic expert who gets wrapped up in a game of cat-and-mouse after discovering ...
Nominations Announced for 59th Annual Emmy Awards
2007-07-19 11:30:18
The nominations have been announced for the 59th annual Emmy Awards. The ceremony will take place September 16th on FOX. Good thing it’s already on FOX, otherwise they’d make their own award show called “Emmi Awards”, air it the night after, and have Wayne Brady host it. I was thrilled to see how well 30 Rock did with its 10 total nominations, including: Comedy Series, Lead Actor in Comedy Series (Alec Baldwin), and Lead Actress in Comedy Series (Tina Fey). If you haven’t been watching this comedy then you really need to. It’s already been renewed for its second season, so you’ll have plenty of chances soon. You can also catch last season’s full episodes of 30 Rock online. The rest of the Comedy Series nominations included: Entourage, The Office, Two and a Half Men, and Ugly Betty. What shows you won’t find in the Drama Series nominations are Lost, 24, or Friday Night Lights. Instead you’ll get: Boston Legal, Grey&rsq ...
Big Brother 8: Evil Dick or Janey Joe, Which Will Go?
2007-07-19 11:00:26
Spoiler Free Zone ahead: We may know what’s going on with the live feeds, but for now we’ll keep this discussion to our broadcast show speculations. Well hotdog! It must be my lucky week because I just watched every bit and piece we needed of the puzzle fall into place in my hope to see a rescued Evil Dick, possibly. Daniele won the PoV and wisely used it to save herself. Jen then filled Daniele’s absence with Joe’s negativity. This could not have worked out better as its exactly what I was hoping to see. So now that we have all the pieces in place what will it take for the rest to follow? The big issue, of course, is the voting. We’ve got 10 votes up for grab this week and while I’d love to see a landslide every single one may play an important role. While Dick has been busy being, well, Dick, he’s managed to aim it at Jen the whole time instead of the other for-sure voting members of the house. Joe hasn’t been so smart and h ...
Big Brother 8: Week 2 Eviction Preview - July 19, 2007
2007-07-19 09:00:04
Update: Check out our recap of tonight’s live eviction show. Tonight is the second eviction episode of the season. We’ll finally wrap up an emotional week that has seen three nominees and one whacked out HoH. Following Daniele’s triumphant win in the PoV she wisely removed herself from the chopping block, forcing Jen to replace her with “Joe and his negativity.” Does this mean Dick is safe and Joe will go? Not so fast. I think this is going to be a close one with even a potential for a tie-breaker vote from HoH Jen. So far this week Eric has failed 3x with his America’s Player tasks. Well one of the tasks he failed twice, but I’m going to count both times. Tonight we’ll see if he manages to fulfill his role this time and vote the way we ask. I’ve really got the feeling that America is going to ask him to vote for Joe to leave. Please, please, please. No matter who is going home I think we’re going to get a lot of ...
The Simpsons Movie: Is Apu Offensive? Doesn’t Seem So.
2007-07-19 08:00:46
In what appears to be the news outlets trying to stir up issues that aren’t issues at all, a local CBS outlet tries to report on Indian business owners being offended by Apu but without much luck. They start out with the premise that The Simpsons’ Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, the local Kwik-E-Mart owner, casts an unflattering stereotype on Indian store owners, but after 4 interviews they come up empty handed. Each interviewee is able to explain that they find this exaggeration of a character entertaining and clearly not a reality, much less offensive at all. One of these people is an executive from 7-Eleven that was willing to come down from his ranking post to put on the store worker outfit and join his employees in the role of Apu. Perhaps CBS should have tried to lead this story a little differently. The Simpsons Movie comes out in theaters later this month. You can still get all your Kwik-E-Mart goodies if you hurry. Danny Boyle’s ‘Sunshine’: Interview with Chris Evans
2007-07-18 12:00:55
This weekend Danny Boyle’s (28 Days Later) sci-fi space adventure movie, Sunshine, will be released in theaters. I’m very excited for this movie as I love the genre. While there’s the obvious challenge of trying to overcome what’s been doing in this group before (2001 Space Odyssey, Event Horizon, etc.) it looks like it’ll be something to enjoy. One of its stars, Chris Evans (Not Another Teen Movie, Fantastic Four), sat down for an interview and addressed some of the issues like, “Don’t you usually play silly roles?” Feed Readers: click here to view the video ...
