Big Brother 8: Week 4 Eviction Prediction & Preview - August 2, 2007
2007-08-02 10:00:41
Update: Check out our recap of tonight’s eviction episode to see who was sent home.
Spoiler Free Zone ahead: We may know what’s going on with the live feeds, but for now we’ll keep this from ruining any broadcast surprises.
Tuesday night’s episode was the first time we saw the PoV be used on someone other than its winner. Dustin picked up a few disgruntled house guests with his decision to throw the competition in lieu of winning the veto. And most importantly, Nick went up on the block as Jen’s replacement. I think this was a smart move decided upon by the LNC, but I really thought we’d see Zach up there considering how everyone seems to find him so creepy. With Nick sitting next to her despite the original plan Kail is feeling a little nervous and I don’t blame her. While it might be smarter to get rid of Nick you never know what’s going to happen with this crew.
Clearly Nick has been handling his nomination very well ...

MTV’s The State on DVD, Eventually
2007-08-02 08:00:36
Few things from MTV have ever been so good as The State and now, thankfully, we’ll be able to enjoy it all over with the announcement of its DVD release. The State was a sketch comedy show which ran on MTV from 1993-1995. If you’ve watched Reno 911 on Comedy Central you’re likely to recognize The State cast members Thomas Lennon and Kerri Kenney-Silver. There was also my personal favorite, Michael Ian Black who has gone on to plenty of other great roles. And to think, there used to be a time when MTV played shows other than “Date My Mom” and “My Super Sweet 16.”

Premonition: Movie Review
2007-08-01 12:00:57
Premonition
Starring: Sandra Bullock, Julian McMahon, Shyann McClure
Director: Mennan Yapo
Genre: Drama / Fantasy / Mystery / Thriller
Rated: Rated PG-13 for some violent content, disturbing images, thematic material and brief language.
Duration: 1hr 37mins
Plot: Depressed housewife who learns her husband was killed in a car accident the previous day awakens the next morning to find him alive. Then awakens the next day to a world in which he is still dead.
Sadly, I didn’t have any sort of visions warning me against watching Sandra Bullock’s attempt at a mind bending thriller. Premonition tries to be much, much more than it’s capable of handling. The story starts with Bullock as the starring, tired housewife who is visited by a police officer informing her of her husband’s death yesterday. Apparently it took them a day and a half to find her house. The next morning Bullock wakes up to find her husband alive and well, but it’s not the next day it&rsquo ...

Big Brother 8: More Backdoor In Week 4?
2007-08-01 11:14:36
This batch of Big Brother contestants has proven to be one cut throat bunch despite them mostly remaining calm on the surface (mostly because Dick doesn’t know calm). Perhaps it’s not so much cut throat as it is just wishy-washy in their decision process. For the third week in a row we just saw the PoV actually get used by Jameka. That was the first time though this season where it wasn’t to save the winner’s own neck though. It seems to rarely see the light of day in past seasons as most of those not on the block don’t want to rock the boat.
Now that we have a replacement for Jen with Nick’s nomination we’re seeing the house starting to shift from the original plan to the replacement nom. This of course has worked out great for Kail, once again, but this sort of “backdoor” treatment has often been reserved for the most hated of houseguests. Nakomis’ legendary six fingered plan has been so mangled and overused by ...

Britney Spears Goes Gangsta On the Papz
2007-08-01 10:30:42
Classy as always, Britney Spears has managed to stir up more trouble by attacking and threatening the lives of paparazzi photographers outside a Las Vegas spa. According to the Associated Press things got a little rough:
Spears yelled “I am going to kill you! I am going to f—ing kill you!,” at Andrew Deetz, the photographer who was allegedly beaten by Spears’ bodyguard on Thursday, according to a statement released by their lawyers. The men, Deetz, 24, and Kyle Henderson, 23, said they were preparing to sue.
The men were taking pictures of Spears, 25, as she and her children — 22-month-old Sean Preston Federline and 10-month-old Jayden James Federline — left the spa at the Wynn Las Vegas casino-hotel at about 11:30 a.m., accompanied by two bodyguards.
One bodyguard, Cesar Julio Camera, 37, pushed Henderson against the wall until Wynn security intervened and asked Henderson to leave, the statement said.
As they were about 30 paces away and walking in t ...

Hell’s Kitchen Renewed For Another Season
2007-08-01 10:00:04
Get ready for more Chef Ramsay because FOX has renewed Hell’s Kitchen for another season. This season has a carried a not-too-shabby 8 million viewers for its weekly Monday night showings. This third season will wrap up in just a couple of weeks on August 13th as we’re down to just a few chefs at this point. The fourth season is likely to be another summer show as always.
If you’re that much of a Ramsay-head then you’ll be thrilled to know that you can get even more of the Chef as he’ll be premiering another show with FOX, Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. Nightmares is currently a UK-only show, but starting in mid-September Chef Ramsay will begin his tour around America supporting restaurant kitchens as needed. The man scares the crap out of me, but I don’t think I’d mind ending up in one of the restaurants he visits.
Check out the rest of our Hell’s Kitchen coverage!

Folklore Video Game Preview Trailer - E3 2007
2007-08-01 08:00:55
Now this looks like one interesting game. Folklore is coming out this fall for the PS3 and according to Wiki:
Folklore, or FolksSoul in Japan (formerly Monster Kingdom: Unknown Realms, Unknown Realms) is a video game for the PlayStation 3 announced at E3 2006 which is told to be “The next generation of dark fantasy.” The game is a real time action adventure game with RPG elements, in the same vein as Genji and Devil May Cry. The game stars a young blonde girl named Ellen, and a journalist named Keats. Together they must fight the monsters known as the “Folk” and weaken and capture their souls.
Now I’ve just gotta hold out hope for an Xbox port of this one.

Big Brother 8: Week 4 Power of Veto Recap - July 31, 2007
2007-07-31 21:10:34
Tonight on Big Brother 8 we’ll find out what happens with Dustin’s nominations, Kail and Jen. The Power of Veto will be up for grabs with both of these ladies working hard to get it, but if Dustin sticks to his earlier statement of “I want Kail gone,” then he won’t want things to change. I’m looking forward to finding out which catchphrase gets selected for Eric to start using around the Big Brother house. Let’s find out what happens.
PoV Competition:
This weeks’ PoV has to be the worst one I’ve ever seen on the show. The theme is an art gallery where the six contestants are shown drawings that are supposed to represent phrases from the game. These pictures are awful and I don’t know how anyone could connect a picture of foot with an electric cord to be “power of veto”. Maybe I’m just borderline retarded, but the only one I got was the ants on the lion’s back as “alliance.” Dustin ...

300 Movie Released Today on DVD
2007-07-31 11:00:56
In honor of the fantastic battle movie 300 being released today on DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-ray I thought it’d be fun to revisit all the 300 coverage from its theatrical release.
First up was our movie review of 300 along with a look at some of its historical background info. One of the biggest conversation starters we’ve had was a look at Iran’s discontent over the release of 300. Finally we have what was my favorite 300 thing, the PG Version of 300 redux video. Almost as funny were the cross marketing pics for 300 and everything from Sbarros to geography. I’m very excited to get my hands on the HD-DVD version of this just as soon as it arrives. If you haven’t seen it yet then I’d highly recommend giving 300 a watch, it’s a lot of fun and I think you’ll enjoy it.

Starring: Gerard Butler, Lena Headey, Dominic West
Director: Zack Snyder

Big Brother 8: Week 4 Power of Veto Preview - July 31, 2007
2007-07-31 10:00:49
Update: Check out our recap of tonight’s PoV episode.
Spoiler Free Zone ahead: We may know what’s going on with the live feeds, but for now we’ll keep this from ruining any broadcast surprises.
On Sunday night, Dustin nominated… Kail and Jen, again. Geez, they’re getting to be pros at this! I was somewhat surprised over this considering the general dislike for Zach and Dustin seems like one who’d want to please as many people as he could. Well there’s always the chance of the PoV shaking things up tonight, so we may still see Zach up there after all. I don’t see a lot of easy options past Zach except maybe Nick as he hasn’t really bonded with anyone that I’ve seen other than Daniele. That girl is going to be his downfall if it hasn’t already.
Now as far as our current nominees, first up there is Kail who thinks she’s there as part of a pawn arrangement with Dustin. However, at the end of Sunday’s ...

Pirate Master: Series Updates
2007-07-31 09:00:58
It has been quite a whirlwind of Pirate Master news over the past week. The biggest news being of course the cancellation of the series due to low ratings. I first became concerned about the series over last weekend when I noticed its absence from Tuesday’s CBS line-up. The news was later confirmed by CBS that they had decided to not air the final half dozen episodes. I was really amazed by this considering first off it’s the summer season where shows typically don’t do so well and secondly they were already this far into the series. Damn was I wrong.
Luckily for the dedicated viewers you will still be able to view each of the episodes, week by week, online at CBS. The video quality is mediocre and not nearly as good as when I was watching Heroes episodes on NBC. What was really frustrating was the 4th part (each episode is broken in parts to insert commercials between them) wouldn’t load. I keep restarting and forwarding through to the last part, b ...

Xbox 360: Price Cut Coming in August, Allegedly
2007-07-31 08:00:41
Looks like my cheapness has finally paid off. Following Sony’s price cut on the 60GB Playstation from $599 to $499 (Be aware, that’s a temp cut and is more of a clearance sale as the price will go back up when they sell the remain stock of 60GB devices.) it appears that Microsoft is ready to follow suit, allegedly of course. The rumor is that Microsoft will drop the price by $50 starting August 8th, but it’s not clear if the cut will be on all three platform levels or not.
The particular date of the rumor price cut carries significance to the Xbox 360, according the Hollywood Reporter:
As for the Aug. 8 date, there is significance to the timing. Not only will Electronic Arts’ “Madden NFL 08″ be reaching stores shelves just a few days after the drop, but Microsoft also has several other highly touted games, including “BioShock” by publisher Irrational Games and “John Woo Presents Stranglehold” from Tiger Hill Entertainm ...

It’s Official: Britney Spears and Kevin Federline Finalize Divorce
2007-07-31 07:15:57
It was nearly 4 months on the dot that news swirled on Britney Spears and Kevin Federline finalizing their shocking divorce. But it turned out they were just more of finalizing their plans to finalize their divorce. And people say she’s crazy.
Following a Supreme Court hearing in LA on Monday Brit’s attorney announced, “Everything is finalized.” The Associated Press reported:
Court Commissioner Scott Gordon signed orders for dissolution of marriage, an alimony agreement and child custody.
The alimony agreement will not be made public unless there is an enforcement issue, Wasser said.
“Most of that tracks the prenup,” the attorney said, without elaborating.
The child custody order was tentatively sealed, pending an Aug. 14 hearing.
“The best interests of the children could be harmed” if the arrangement were not sealed, Gordon said.
Spears’ attorney went on to explain that Britney “would like to be with her kids more.& ...
