Heroes’ Masi Oka Not Just A Geek On-Screen - Video
2007-08-15 10:00:57
It turns out that Masi Oka who plays Hiro Nakamura on NBC’s Heroes doesn’t just geek it up in front of the camera. In the video clip below, the visual effects supervisor Mark Kolpack talks about Masi’s background with the special effects technology that is used today around the entertainment industry. Before Masi’s big break on Heroes he spent some time as a coder for a special effects team helping them complete scenes that required custom work.

Pirate Master: Episode 12 Recap
2007-08-15 08:00:32
After last week’s elimination of Kendra, finally!, the competition has thinned out to just five pirates! As the show starts (online, grrrr) and I watch the intro along with the theme music I’m reminded of just how much I enjoy this show. I’m so disappointed in CBS and their decision to let it go. It’s great entertainment and something much different (despite its Survivor spin) from anything else out there right now. Sigh. I’ll miss you Pirate Master! But in the mean time… Let’s find out what happens on Pirate Master Episode 12!
Once again, just like last week, the show starts with Ben expressing his concerns over Jay’s sneaky pirate behavior. Once Jay I think Ben should be pretty worried, but that shouldn’t be an issue this week as they seem to still be on good terms. Other than that life on the boat is going well for everyone as Captain Christa is a benevolent leader who doesn’t force her crew to do any work. ...

Big Brother 8: Week 6 Power of Veto Recap - August 14, 2007
2007-08-14 21:31:56
Seems likes its going to be another few exciting days in the Big Brother 8 house. I wasn’t sure if Dick would try to keep his head down and hope for an 11th hour redemption or just go all out Dick mode. I don’t know why I ever doubted ol’ Dick. The fireworks start when Dick grabs a pot lid and spoon and starts banging it over a sleeping Dustin. From there he goes on to start yelling at everyone else in the LNC-5. While all of it was nasty and mean I did get a few chuckles out of his mockery of Amber selling cigarettes in Vegas. I’m not too much of a fan of Amber though anymore, so I’m probably a little biased.
We get a few Hallmark moments between Dick and Daniele as he relishes his moments playing Dad. It’s actually nice to see, but geez it’s gotta be tough to love a guy that can be so nasty to everyone around him. I suspect some of this behavior is what drove this daughter and father apart in the first place. We also get to see ho ...

Chris Noth “Mr. Big” Signed On For Sex and the City Movie
2007-08-14 12:00:13
After finally securing the lingering Kim Cattrall for the long awaited big screen adaptation of Sex and the City it looks like the cast is nearly complete. Chris Noth has signed on to reprise his role as Mr. Big, Samantha’s on again, off again love interest from the series. According to Reuters:
After weeks of speculation, Chris Noth has closed a deal to reprise his iconic character from “Sex and the City” in the upcoming feature based on the hit HBO series.
Production on the film — written by and to be directed by the series’ executive producer Michael Patrick King — is slated to begin in September in New York.
Noth stars on NBC’s “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” which also shoots in New York, and he will work on both projects simultaneously.
The series finale of “Sex” ended with Mr. Big flying to Paris to profess his love for Carrie (Parker) and bring her home to New York.
While I’m not a SatC fan I&r ...

Bionic Woman: Ethical Bionics Website Blurring Reality
2007-08-14 10:00:24
If you’ve been following the NBC 2007 fall TV lineup then you’re no doubt aware of their upcoming new show Bionic Woman (not “The” Bionic Woman, that was the old one). The show looks like a pretty decent remake of what was already a cool idea, though not as cutting edge as it was 30 years ago. It’s also been interesting to hear how much the show has changed from the pilot episode already. First off Sommers’ sister was going to be played by Mae Whitman, George Michael’s girlfriend from Arrested Development, but that has already changed as well as her deaf status.
However the show ends up NBC is definitely looking to market this show heavily as I’m seeing coverage on it in a lot of places. One of my favorite little marketing tricks that I most recently remember from Lost were the Hanso Foundation websites that were supposed to be “real”. Heroes was also running one for the Prima Tech Paper company, which I totally miss ...

Big Brother 8: Week 6 Power of Veto Preview - August 14, 2007
2007-08-14 09:00:28
Update: Check out our recap of tonight’s PoV episode to see who won it and if it was used.
Tonight ought to be a good one. On Sunday night Dick and Daniele were nominated and Dick was determined to save Daniele. Dick’s plan was to rampage through the house making everyone’s life a living Hell. His whole goal in life is to get these people to hate him so much that they will have to vote him out instead of Daniele. I have no doubt that we will see Jameka, Jessica, and Amber in tears tonight (well Amber is in tears every night so that will be nothing new). Of course he could have held off on this plan until after the Power of Veto competition tonight. It’s possible that he or Daniele could win it and then save Daniele that way. If they didn’t win Dick would still have a couple of days to increase the hate factor in the house. Daniele is actually Jessica’s target, not Dick so it is possible that Dick’s plan could just save Daniele because some ...

Hell’s Kitchen Recap & Review: Season 3 Finale - 8/13/07
2007-08-13 22:37:40
This was it! The main meal ticket! Rock vs. Bonnie to the death. Both chefs worked really hard to get to the finale. One went home as the winner of their very own restaurant in Las Vegas.
The chefs had 10 hours to prepare their teams, prep the dinner service, and finish their restaurants. Bonnie really didn’t do anywhere near as much prep as Rock did. He had things organized and ready to go. He also had a better team. The guys (Brad, Vinnie, and Josh) may not have been as technically strong as the girls but, all three of those guys really wanted to do their best to help Rock win. Because Bonnie didn’t do as much prep as Rock she was counting on her team more than Rock was. This was bad for Bonnie because was having a much harder time with her team (Jen, Julia, and Melissa). Julia was still bitter that she was not in the final two. Melissa was nervous that Bonnie didn’t have recipes for all of her dishes.
An hour before dinner, Chef Ramsay came through for a f ...

Take a look and see what shows you don’t want to miss this week.

Age of Love: Mark Philippoussis & Amanda Salinas Update
2007-08-13 10:00:11
After a full season of the new reality show Age of Love many of us were anxious to see who Mark Philippoussis selected in the season finale last week. While I’ll admit I was hoping for Mark to pick Jennifer I still wasn’t very surprised to see Amanda win the prize. The couple was reunited in Las Vegas last week to watch the finale as most of the ladies returned for the action. So for all those curious on the couple’s current status it sounds like this was the first time they were allowed to see each other. Mark is reported to have kept in contact with Amanda during the hiatus through text messages. Very romantic. Observers at the viewing party noted there weren’t a lot of sparks flying between the pair, but I’d have to imagine it’d be a little awkward in front of that many people considering it had been months since seeing each other last.
In case you don’t care what others thought of the situation you can see what Mark wrote on his ...

Hell’s Kitchen Preview: Season 3 Finale - 8/13/07
2007-08-13 08:00:32
Tonight the proof is in the pudding (sorry just a little cooking humor there :)). Our two final chefs square off in the final dinner service of the season. Last week Rock and Bonnie each turned their half of Hell’s Kitchen into their very own restaurant. They had to design it, select uniforms for the wait staff, prepare their own menus, and finally select the chefs who would be helping them in the kitchen. Bonnie and Rock both selected their old teammates.
Bonnie’s team: Jen, Melissa, Julia
Rock’s Team: Brad, Vinnie, Josh
Each chef has at least one chef on their team who is competent, Jen for Bonnie and Brad for Rock. Bonnie could be in for some trouble with Melissa and Julia though. Melissa while knowledgeable never quite lived up to Chef Ramsay’s standards and Julia had a complete meltdown last week and stated outright that she was rooting for Rock to win. Rock is saddled with Vinnie and Josh neither of whom ever seemed to please Chef Ramsay. With thei ...

Big Brother 8: Week 6 Nomination Recap - August 12, 2007
2007-08-12 21:12:26
It was another exciting night full of screaming, crying, and praying house guests. Evel started off the festivities by calling everyone a liar. Jameka and Dustin both told Evel that they had kept their word and voted for Eric. With all of their new found power after winning HoH when Dick started in, Jameka, Amber, and Dustin were in his face. As soon as Dick attacked Jameka’s religious beliefs she got totally fired up and let him have it. Eric was totally being mister polite, super team supporter, best buddy to all of his friends. He even hugged Jameka and told her her he loved her when she was crying after fighting with Dick.
Daniele then kept it rolling with the next crying fit of the evening. She immediately figured out that when everyone else was celebrating after Jessica won HoH that she and Dick had been played. She really felt guilty that Kail went home. She was fed up with the cameras and everyone else in the house. She was disappointed that she didn’t get anyth ...

Weekend Movie Box Office Earnings Round-up: August 10 - 12, 2007
2007-08-12 16:39:06
This weekend wasn’t as kind to trilogies as last weekend. Rush Hour 3 pulled in a not-too-shabby $50.2M, but considering all the costs (Tucker was paid higher than Tom Cruise or Eddie Murphy for this one) I imagine the studio was hoping for something more Bourne-like opening weekend. The Bourne Ultimatum had a great weekend that would have pleased most opening movies with $33.6M. The other new movies this weekend didn’t do so hot. Stardust, which looked decreasingly good to me as time passed didn’t break the $10M point despite it’s star studded cast (DeNiro, Phiffer, Danes, Miller). Then there was the “should have been straight to DVD” Daddy Day Camp which despite opening mid-week barely broke $5M. Don’t forget Skinwalkers, wait it looks like America already did, as it came in at #18 (yes, that’s right) with about $0.5 million. Ah well, better luck next weekend (Superbad!!).
Here they are, your box office movie earnings for th ...

Big Brother 8: Week 6 Nomination Preview - August 12, 2007
2007-08-12 10:00:50
Tonight on Big Brother 8 it’ll be time to learn who the new HoH, Jessica, will be nominating. Considering all the stress out there last week I think it’ll be a sure bet to find the Donato duo (that’s Dick and Daniele) standing atop the chopping block. It was amazing to watch how fast things deflated in the game for these two, but really I have little pity. Once part of the strongest, biggest alliance in the game, LNC, Dick and Daniele lost control of their emotions and their game and decided to avenge Nick’s departure. Oh yeah, don’t forget they both voted him out, but they were mad that Eric voted to keep him. Try and sort that one out as they haven’t bothered to do so yet.
Following Thursday’s new HoH event the entire house was crowded around reviewing what had just happened. Well, everyone but Dick and Daniele who were holed up in the side bedroom where Daniele cried on her father’s shoulder. Dick explained that everything ...

Weekend Humor: The Office - CIA Recruits Dwight, Kinda
2007-08-11 12:00:35
While I’m enjoying all the reality TV this summer I think I’m ready to get back to some series like The Office and 30 Rock. I don’t think I’m alone when I say that Dwight has become my favorite The Office character and the video clip below demonstrates why. Curiously, I heard that Dwight’s character may get pulled into his own spin-off show. I hope they wait a long time though as I think it’d hurt the show a lot to lose him now.
