Weekend Movie Box Office Earnings Round-up: August 17 - 19, 2007
2007-08-19 13:19:09
The weekend movie earnings are in and it’s no big surprise to me that Superbad took the #1 spot. It was a great movie (read my Superbad movie review) for those who don’t mind things crude and raunchy. Rush Hour 3 dropped one spot to #2 but still brought in a healthy $21+ million, not bad considering I thought word of mouth would kill that one. The Bourne Ultimatum stayed near the top for its third week with a very strong $19 million. From there things really drop off with The Simpsons Movie earning a little over $6 million in the number four spot. The Invasion, Nicole Kidman, was a remake that didn’t work for me (my review will be up Monday morning) or the box office as it earned just $6 million in its debut. The other new release, The Last Legion, didn’t make it into the top ten as it came to rest at #12 with a little over $2 million. I wasn’t surprised at all considering this looked like a real clunker of a movie. Did you see any of these th ...
Big Brother 8: Week 7 Nomination Preview - August 19, 2007
2007-08-19 10:00:53
Update: Check out our recap of tonight’s nomination episode. Tonight on Big Brother 8 we’ll learn who our new HoH, Daniele, will be nominating for this week. After last week’s shocker eviction of Dustin over Dick (well I wasn’t shocked, I predicted each vote just right) this was a crucial win for the Donatos and will keep them in power long enough to get rid of the only person seriously challenging their rule, for the moment. Having hit the half way mark in the season I think we’re finally seeing all the realignments amongst alliances that I was suspecting to happen. Eric and Jessica are a pretty decent duo, but to see them make it much further they were going to have to eventually team up with the top duo in the house, Dick and Daniele of course. That leaves another four people in the house that could, and should, team up if they want any hope of survival. I think we all know that won’t happen though. I don’t think we’ll have m ...
Superbad: Movie Review
2007-08-18 11:00:33
Superbad Starring: Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Seth Rogen Director: Greg Mottola Genre: Comedy Rated: R for pervasive crude and sexual content, strong language, drinking, some drug use and a fantasy/comic violent image. Duration: 1hr 54mins Plot: Two co-dependent high school guys want to hook up with girls before they graduate and go off to different colleges, but, after a calamitous night just trying to buy alcohol for a school party, overcoming their separation anxiety becomes a greater challenge than getting the girls. My Review: Superbad is a hilarious “coming of age” tale of three friends whose quest for alcohol to be the party heroes takes them on an adventure that kept me laughing out loud for nearly all two hours of it. Everything about this movie was fun and entertaining and considering all the “parents” involved in this one its no surprise to me that they had such a beautiful baby. You’ve got Judd Apatow as the executive producer (he directed ...
Entertainment Week In Review: August 13 - 17, 2007
2007-08-18 10:00:04
Here are your entertainment news highlights from this past week: August 13 - 17, 2007 Monday: Age of Love’s Mark and Amanda Update shows the couple hadn’t seen each other in months before the finale. Can it survive in the real world? Tuesday: The new show Bionic Woman has a little viral marketing going on with the release of a BioEthics Website set up as a facade to the real deal. Kinda interesting to snoop around and see. Wednesday: Heroes’ Masi Oka proves to be a geek in front of and behind the camera. Thursday: The hunt for the title of the next Indiana Jones movie is on! Six possible titles were submitted to the MPAA by Spielberg and crew. Friday: Speaking of sequels, Jurassic Park 4 is heading our way and may or may not be dealing with dinosaurs armed like mercenaries. I’m hoping this one isn’t true. Once again, a lot happened this week. Next week try to stay hip and popular by visiting Wild Bluff Media each day so you don’t miss anythi ...

Weekend Humor: SNL’s Bathroom Monkey - Video
2007-08-18 09:00:01
I wish I had a Bathroom Monkey. Hell, I’d even settle for a plain monkey. Here’s another classic SNL commercial for something that doesn’t exist, but definitely should. Feed Readers: click here to view the video What are you missing on the Big Brother 8 live feeds right now? ...

American Idol Winner Jordin Sparks Signs With Jive Records
2007-08-17 16:51:23
Get ready America because American Idol Winner Jordin Sparks, 17, has just signed a record contract with Jive Records. This contract will be in conjunction with the 19Recordings label which is managed by American Idol’s creator, Simon Fuller. Her album is set to follow in just a few months as reported by the Associated Press: Her [Sparks] debut album is slated for release in November. She’ll offer a taste of the disc with her new single, “Tattoo,” to be released to radio stations Aug. 27. “`American Idol’ has truly been a life-altering experience,” Sparks said in a statement. “I can’t wait to share this next chapter of my story with all the fans that have supported me so far.” So Sparks’ album will be out in November, but her first single will hit the air waves in just a little over a week. I’m interested in seeing if this can catch her up to Blake Lewis who was ahead in the singles chart back in June. Che ...

Weekend Movie Preview: Trailers & Details August 17 - 19, 2007
2007-08-17 10:00:47
Oh yeah! Here we go, it’s a movie filled weekend ahead for this guy right here. I’m very psyched for Superbad coming out today and that is number one on my list. After such a dud set of movies last weekend I was aching for something good and I think this fits the bill. I’m also planning to catch The Invasion, a remake of the classic remake (this will actually be the 4th time it’s been made) The Invasion of the Body Snatchers. This isn’t supposed to be too good, but I decided awhile back I’d include it, so here we go anyways. The Last Legion comes out as well for those King Arthur-ish fans. Then the oddly interesting King of Kong (nothing to do with the Peter Jackson remake) will be hitting a limited release as well. I think I’ll wait for video on that one, but it still looks like fun. Are any of these movies in your plans for the weekend? Here are all your movie details & trailers for this weekend, August 17 - 19, 2007. Super ...

Big Brother 8: Where Dustin Went Wrong + CBS Interview Video
2007-08-17 09:00:41
“By a vote of four to two, Dustin you have been evicted from the Big Brother house.” Bam! Dustin’s jaw dropped and hit a dead stare. The cameras quickly flipped to Amber where nothing seems to ever register and then back to a dazed and confused Dustin. Slowly he got up, got his hugs, said his goodbyes, and was out the front door to Julie’s Couch. So what happened to our fiery little Dustin that caused him to slip from the safe confines of his LNC-5 to losing to the hated Evil Dick? At first I thought it was just arrogance. Dustin was incredibly smug and arrogant in this game as he floated along (no pun intended) with his group and even during his stint as HoH where he described Kail as being wrapped around his finger. But the more I looked at it I think that as much as I hate to say it, Joe was right, Dustin’s big problem was self-centered arrogance. Dustin never stopped to really think about the dangers of being nominated against Dick. Matter of ...
Jurassic Park 4: Dinosaurs With Frickin’ Laser Beams
2007-08-17 08:00:50
Jurassic Park has always been one of the movies that I wish had been laid to rest after the first one came out. It was a fantastic adventure movie that could do no wrong, well except to pop out a few more sequels as it turned out. The sequel, Lost World, was the top grossing sequel for awhile there only because of how good the first one was. That time around only Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) was secured for that round. It was crap compared to the first, don’t even bother trying to argue that one either. Then there was the third Jurassic Park which managed to only get Dr. Grant (Sam Neill) to return (okay, okay, Dern was in it but not in a major role). This one wasn’t as bad as the second to me, but still couldn’t hold a candle to the original. Let’s not stop there though, not if there’s money yet to be squeezed out of this franchise. Enter Jurassic Park 4! Spielberg apparently wants a shot at redemption here, but from the initial details this s ...
Big Brother 8: Week 6 Eviction Recap - August 16, 2007
2007-08-16 20:12:27
It’s Eviction Night again on Big Brother 8 and I am ready to see if this was a Marcellas level stupid move from Dustin. The show launches right off with everyone scrambling to figure out this mess they’re in. Zach and Jessica group for a little date night (don’t worry Eric, just strategy talk) and have a very smart discussion. Zach might be sidelined from most of the players, but this guy has his ears to the rail. Zach offers his vote to Jessica however she decides he should vote. Jump over to America’s Player Eric. We learn that America has voted for Dustin to get evicted. No kidding. Eric embraces this command and heads right up to the HoH room. In case you missed it there is a quick, steamy moment between them as they discuss “boobs”, hers in specific. Basically Eric stumbles around the idea of getting her behind evicting Dustin. The next step falls easily into place as Dick pursues Eric’s vote. This works out very well for Er ...
Coming Soon: National Treasure: Book of Secrets - Trailer & Details
2007-08-16 12:00:46
I really enjoyed the first National Treasure movie because it was simple and silly but with lots of action that balanced out to be plenty of fun for me. Luckily enough people liked it too for a sequel to come down the pipes. National Treasure: Book of Secrets picks right back up with Nicolas Cage in the lead role as he hunts down the next history mystery. This time the mystery surrounds Abraham Lincoln’s assassination and missing pages from the diary of John Wilkes Booth. I’m glad to see the whole gang has returned including Jon Voight as Cage’s father and the very pretty Kruger as Cage’s love interest. The cast has widen with several other big names who should add lots of quality: Ed Harris and Helen Mirren (The Queen). I imagine we’re going to get a very similar flow from this movie and that would be more than fine for me. What did you think of the first one? Are you looking forward to seeing this one too? You’ve got until Christmas t ...

Big Brother 8: Week 6 Eviction Prediction Preview - August 16, 2007
2007-08-16 10:00:36
Update: Check out our recap of tonight’s eviction episode to see the results! It’s time to return to the Chopping Block tonight on Big Brother 8 as we’ll see who is going home: Dick or Dustin. Quick catch up from Tuesday’s PoV episode: Dick barely, barely pulled out a win in the PoV comp, saved Daniele, and Jessica freaked with paranoia and nominated Dustin as the replacement. Dustin was cool with this as he said he wants to mouth off to Dick and feels the chopping block is the ideal soap box. I think he’s crazy. Dustin could be in some real danger here considering a few things I already hashed out in my discussion on “Dustin Is In More Danger Than He Realizes“. Lots of interesting feedback on that one from live feed viewers discussing how BB is trying to influencing the voting taking place to protect their ratings’ golden child Dick. I can’t blame them as he makes for a lot of interesting episodes that they won’t wan ...
Indiana Jones 4: The Hunt For The Elusive Movie Title
2007-08-16 08:00:07
The road to Indiana Jones 4 (take a look at the first video clips from the set) continues with the secretive release of more details on the movie’s title. I had been hearing for some time now the speculated title would be: Indiana Jones and the City of Gods, so this latest tidbit didn’t throw me too much. An insider sent “/Film” a list of movie titles submitted to the Motion Pictures Association of America as a Title Registration Report. It seems that movie studios submit a list of potential titles and existing conflicting/overlapping titles for comparison. So either in an attempt to cover their bases with back up idea or to throw off folks like me trying to speculate on the final product Lucasfilm filed for six different Indiana Jones 4 movie titles. These potential movie titles include: Indiana Jones and the City of Gods Indiana Jones and the Destroyer of Worlds Indiana Jones and the Fourth Corner of the Earth Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the C ...
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - Bridge Battle Video
2007-08-15 12:00:55
Metroid Prime is returning to the Wii in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Now that I’ve finally got my grubby little hands on a Wii of my own I’m looking forward to getting back to some of these games locked to certain platforms, like Metroid. The Metroid Prime 3 plot according to the E3 2007 factsheet: Six months have passed since the events on the planet Aether. The Galactic Federation’s network computers, Aurora Units, are suddenly and completely corrupted with something like a virus, and only quick action saves the entire network from going down. The Federation believes Space Pirates may be behind the problem and, beginning with Samus, starts to contact bounty hunters. As it explains the situation to the assembled hunters, the Federation is attacked by the pirates. Samus and the other hunters leap to the defense of the Federation capital, only to find that the enemy the hunters face is the presumed-dead Dark Samus. Dark Samus defeats Samus and the other bounty hun ...
Big Brother 8: Dustin Is In More Danger Than He Realizes
2007-08-15 10:30:02
I was stunned over the past week to watch Dustin plead with Jessica, “please put me up on the block next to Dick.” What started out as a bad idea of an America’s Player task for Eric turned into a easy stroll as Dustin did all the work for him. Eric just had to nod in agreement to check this box. So here we sit, Dick won PoV and saved Daniele, and following a moment of concern over Dustin’s loyalty Jessica took him up on his offer and put him on the block. I’d love to get a littl insight to Jessica’s thoughts on Dustin and Dick “having a deal” that would involve both of them being on the block at the same time. Sounds more like a suicide pact than a “deal” and for those unsure, no, there is no deal between Dick and Dustin. Dustin thinks he’s sitting pretty this week as he believes the house must surely hate Dick and love him instead. Dustin wants to be next to Dick so he can give an elaborate speech on eviction ni ...
