BioShock Released This Week for XBOX 360 & PC, Looks Awesome
2007-08-22 08:00:18
BioShock, the new video game for the XBOX 360 and the PC, was released yesterday and it looks awesome. This game has been in the works for sometime and rightfully so as it appears it could be one of those games to really push a console ahead in the VG wars. I’m looking forward to giving this one a try very soon. BioShock Plot The game opens in 1960. The player assumes the role of Jack, a passenger on an aircraft that crashes into the ocean near Rapture. Jack swims for the only structure he sees, a lighthouse that serves as the above-surface entry point into Rapture. Descending into the city using a bathysphere, he learns of the original prosperous history of Rapture through a pre-recorded film, but sees the state of decay of both the city and society for himself. He is quickly led to safety by a man named Atlas, who communicates to Jack over a short-wave radio; Atlas believes that Jack is his only hope in reuniting with his wife and child. Big Brother 8: Week 7 Power of Veto Recap - August 21, 2007
2007-08-21 21:17:57
On Sunday we saw Daniele put Amber and Jameka up for eviction, so tonight we’ll see what happens with the Power of Veto and if either of them can be saved. As the numbers are getting lower here everyone is starting to get a little nervous about every move made in the house. Jen and Jessica jump right into the hammock and start to ponder the dangers of leaving Dick and Daniele together in the house. I guess Jen isn’t aware of this secret grouping, so that’s good for them. On a lighter note Eric and Jessica start to get a little of their flirt on with some wrestling moves, only to be interrupted by Zach. Zach explains in a Diary Room sidebar that he loves blocking Eric as he doesn’t think he has any game. While I’d agree he’s a little awkward with the ladies I’d also say he’s doing a lot better than Zach is in there! Amber and Jameka also have their own discussion out in the hammock. Amber explains what was mentioned on Sunday, ...
Pirate Master: Episode 13 Recap
2007-08-21 17:13:42
Last week on Pirate Master (Episode 12 Recap) we saw Laurel finally exit stage right following Captain Christa’s deciding vote. Honestly, I was very surprised to see Laurel make it this far, but good for her as she was a good sport about it all through to the end. This week we’re down to just four pirates left: Captain Christa, Jay, Ben, and Louie. I think all of these pirates deserve to be here and I’m quite satisfied with the bunch we have left at this point. Unless Louie has some great luck though I think he’ll be sent home this week as Christa has been very vocal about staying true to her wavering alliance with Jay and Ben. Let’s see what happens this week on Pirate Master! These final four pirates are very proud of themselves as they celebrate their achievement. Looking around the room Ben reveals he’s still nervous for his safety (this view from Ben has been a staple of the past 3 episodes). Louie also details that he’s the od ...

High School Musical 2: Movie Review
2007-08-21 12:00:38
High School Musical 2 Starring: Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman Director: Kenny Ortega Genre: Comedy / Family / Musical Rated: Unrated Plot: The High School Musical gang has reunited to spend their summer vacation together working at a resort and preparing for the end of summer talent show. My Review: High School Musical 2 made its network television debut Friday August 17th. If you have children who watch the Disney Channel I’m sure this was the highlight of the summer for your kids! If you are not a parent or have children over the age of 14 you probably have no idea what I’m talking about. Last year High School Musical was one of the most popular movies among pre-teens. My kids were counting down the days. This was the Superbowl for young kids. There were parties and sleepovers everywhere as kids banded together to watch the debut. Friday night, the Disney Channel received 17.4 million viewers, more than the ...
Steven Seagal Blames The FBI For Death Of His Career
2007-08-21 11:00:53
Five years after the FBI began an investigation into Steven Seagal over alleged mafia connections and the harassment of a journalist the once hot action movie hero is demanding an apology. Seagal’s spokesman, which probably just means Seagal but in a different voice, released a statement to the Los Angeles Times: “False FBI accusations fueled thousands of articles saying that I terrorize journalists and associate with the Mafia,” Seagal told the newspaper. “These kinds of inflammatory allegations scare studio heads and independent producers — and kill careers.” Seagal, 56, was once a major star of action movies such as 1992’s “Under Siege,” which earned $156 million at worldwide box offices, but now he makes straight-to-DVD releases such as “Flight of Fury and “Attack Force.” Ironically, I think it’s actually Steven Seagal movies that kill Steven Seagal movies. In case you’re not Steven Seagal o ...
Big Brother 8: Week 7 Power of Veto Preview - August 21, 2007
2007-08-21 10:00:13
Update: Check out our recap of tonight’s PoV episode. Spoiler Free Zone ahead: We may know what’s going on with the live feeds, but for now we’ll keep this from ruining any broadcast surprises. Sunday’s nominations by Daniele were a no brainer. Jameka and Amber were the obvious choices as Jameka can’t fight for HoH for another 3 weeks and Amber has the competitive abilities of a sloth. But just as I was getting excited over the possibility of finally being able to say goodbye to the teary eyed Amber we saw Daniele close the last show with a little Diary Room insight. Turns out her real target is Jen this week, so watch out as we could be getting yet another dose of Big Brother Back Door. I can’t believe how integral back door bait and switch game play has been this season. In past years the ol’ switcheroo has been something reserved for a special needs situation. Instead, this year it’s been used 4 out of 6 evictions. Jen was r ...
Michael Bay Pissed At Paramount’s Blu-ray Dump: No Transformers 2
2007-08-21 09:00:49
Yesterday Paramount and Dreamworks Animation announced their studios would only be supporting the HD-DVD format in the Hi-Def DVD wars, which puts Blu-ray in the loser’s seat for this round. So when I read this little blurb from the hack master himself, Michael Bay, I nearly squealed in delight: I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me! Bay After all the heartache over this format war I’m thrilled to know at least one good thing has come from it: Michael Bay doesn’t want to do Transformers 2. Considering the dump he took all over the recently released Transformers movie I couldn’t be happier to know there’s still hope for the inevitable sequel. I still wouldn’t be surprised to see him come back and do it anyway as someone is likely to remind him he needs to keep all the work he can get. A movie guy can s ...

Big Brother 8: Amber and Jameka Are So Screwed
2007-08-20 13:36:21
We’re nearly at the half way point for BB8 house guests remaining with 8 of the original 14 still around. At this point things are starting to get a little more cut throat than usual and there will likely be lots more treachery ahead (woohoo!). Looking around at the last 8 players I think most of them stand a decent chance of making to the final few players. However, there are two people left that I would not consider to have a lot of potential left: Amber and Jameka. These two ladies are so screwed at this point and I believe it’s only going to get worse. Neither Amber nor Jameka having really been playing the game from what I’ve seen. To be even more accurate I’d say the closest Jameka came to playing was when she made an anti-playing move back there with giving up her HoH game plays for 5 weeks. Nicely done. This pair has done little more than surround themselves with friends instead of allies. This is Big Brother, not summer camp! Clearly tha ...
Don’t Miss TV: August 20 - 24, 2007
2007-08-20 12:00:57
It’s another week of television shows coming at you and we’re here to help. Here’s a break down by night of what you need to be sure to catch and what’s going on this week, August 20 - 24, 2007. Lots of reality TV again this week along with a few series running through the summer. Big Brother 8 is now in full swing with shows 3 nights a week. Awesome. I was really enjoying Age of Love which ended the other week, and Hell’s Kitchen. Sad news for all the pirate fans, but Pirate Master was canceled! Damn you CBS! But we’ll keep covering the online episodes. Take a look and see what shows you don’t want to miss this week with our WBM TV guide. Monday: Fat March: 9-10pm on ABC; Ten remaining walkers head from Conn to NYC. Someone ends up heading to the hospital. Tuesday: Big Brother 8: 9-10pm on CBS; The power of veto will be up for grabs to potentially offset Daniele’s nominations. Check out the rest of our Big Brother 8 cove ...
The Invasion: Movie Review
2007-08-20 10:00:23
The Invasion: Starring: Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig Director: Oliver Hirschbiegel Genre: Action / Drama / Horror / Sci-Fi / Thriller / Remake Rated: PG-13 for violence, disturbing images and terror. Plot: The Invasion tells the story of a mysterious epidemic that alters the behavior of human beings. When a Washington D.C. psychiatrist (Nicole Kidman) discovers the epidemic’s origins are extraterrestrial, she must fight to protect her son, who may hold the key to stopping the escalating invasion. My Review: What a dud of a remake The Invasion turned out to be. The characters on screen weren’t the only ones trying to keep awake as this hour and a half attempt at a horror/suspense movie just kept dragging along. If you’ve seen the previous remake version from 1978 with Sutherland then be content with that. If you haven’t seen the previous rendition (this latest Kidman version was the 4th make of it) then go back and watch Invasion of the Body Snatchers instead ...
Accident On Cruise’s “Valkyrie” Film Set; No One Famous Hurt
2007-08-20 09:00:07
Tom Cruise’s new film “Valkryie” is under way in Berlin and it looks like no one is safe, well except for the famous, according to local law enforcement: The 11 [actors/extras] fell from the truck when a side panel burst open as it drove around a corner in central Berlin on Sunday evening, police said. One of them was seriously hurt and had to remain in hospital. Filming was halted after the accident. “We have no findings to suggest anyone famous was involved in the accident,” said a police spokesman, adding he did not know whether it would affect the shoot this week. Oh thank goodness. When they said someone was hurt and sent to the hospital I was terrified that it might be someone of value and worth to society. Thankfully though it didn’t involve anyone famous which makes me question why they didn’t just put the guy down right there in the street and leave him for the wild animals to carry off. Jessica Biel Ready To Strip Naked In New Movie “Powder Blue”
2007-08-20 08:00:06
Get ready to see more Jessica Biel than ever before. Page Six is reporting that Biel has signed on for “Powder Blue” opposite Forest Whitaker where she’ll play “a stripper trying to earn money to raise her terminally ill son.” Shouldn’t it be “earn money to save her terminally ill son”? I mean, you don’t really get to “raise” a terminally ill child. She’s going to need to get her story straight if she isn’t going to stick to the default, “I’m trying to work my way through college.” Jessica Biel’s naked contract requirements state “the bare minimum fans will see - including shots of her breasts and butt.” Considering it’s been seven years since her infamous nearly nude Gear magazine photo spread I’m surprised this hasn’t happened sooner. I actually kept a notepad out during “Chuck and Larry” where I made little tick marks every time t ...

Big Brother 8: Week 7 Nomination Recap - August 19, 2007
2007-08-19 20:37:46
Wow, after such a great eviction episode last Thursday it’s time to find out who the Donatos will decide to nominate this week. We’ll find out if they hold up their half of the bargain they made with Eric and Jessica last week. As the show starts out Amber is of course an emotional disaster as she says she nows has nobody left in the game (Jameka says ‘thanks Amber’). She explains how she’s so confused and doesn’t know if she needs to start playing people or not. I think it’s a little late for that at this stage, but whatever works for ya Amber. Speaking of going with whatever works for Amber let’s take a flashback to last week’s HoH competition. Amber details out her losing decision to help us understand her stupidity a little better. When asked about the number of cards on the Mad Hatter’s hat Amber says she knew the answer was six, but seven is her lucky number so she said True instead. So you knew the answer w ...
