Coming Soon: Juno - Trailer & Details
2007-09-20 12:00:14
Jason Reitman, director of the entertaining Thank You For Smoking, returns to directing with Juno, a black comedy with a solid cast. I’m glad to see Cera in another movie, but he’s gotta watch the type casting. Bateman (Cera’s castmate from Arrested Development) and Garner seem like a good match for the needy couple. I’m not familiar with the lead role by Ellen Page, but from the trailer it looks like she’ll do just fine. Don’t miss everyone’s favorite Office worker, but this time he’s working from behind the counter.
Juno - Details:
Release Date: 14 December 2007 (limited)
Genre: Comedy / Drama
Starring: Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman
Director: Jason Reitman
Rating: Rated PG-13 for mature thematic material, sexual content and language.
Juno - Plot:
Ellen Page stars as Juno MacGuff, a whip-smart teen confronting an unplanned pregnancy by her classmate Bleeker (Michael Cera). With the help of her hot best friend Lea ...

Christopher “McLovin” Mintz-Plasse Returning To The Big Screen
2007-09-20 10:00:59
Get ready for more McLovin as Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin is so much easier to type than all that) readies himself for his second film, Little Big Men. Mintz-Plasse, whose one and only acting bit has been in the recent hit Superbad, will join a well comedic versed cast with Paul Rudd (Knocked Up, Anchorman) and Seann William Scott (American Pie 1 through 16). Cinematical caught a few more details:
According to Mintz-Plasse, though, Little Big Men will now be helmed by Wet Hot American Summer and The Ten director David Wain. The movie’s plot involves two wild and crazy guys who end up sentenced to community service in the form of the Big Brothers mentoring program. Why a judge would think a couple of party boys would be suitable mentors to kids is beyond me (the program does have very strict guidelines against drug users, and I’m sure these guys are probably potheads), but it should at least make for some funny situations.
I missed The Ten, but thought Wain&rs ...

The Bachelor 11: 4 Days Left to Go!
2007-09-20 08:00:41
There’s only four days left until the 11th season of The Bachelor begins. Twenty-four new bachelorettes are ready to do battle for the heart of this season’s Romeo. Season 11’s Bachelor is Brad Womack, a 34 year old bar owner from Texas. He has been described as the sexiest bachelor yet. Brad has those rugged, good looking features you would expect from a from a Texas bachelor. He’s not only good looking but, a self made man as well. He and his brothers own four bars.
Now so far he sounds like a real winner. The kind of guy any woman would fall all over herself to get her hands on. The rest of his bio is much less impressive. He dropped out of Texas State University at age 19. He then went to work in the oil fields and wondered around a number of states for the next eight years. After becoming a bartender, he began to save money and then he and his brothers were able to establish their first bar. They now have four: Uncle Firsty’s, The Chuggin&rsqu ...

Kitchen Nightmares Review
2007-09-19 22:06:30
Chef Gordon Ramsay of Hell’s Kitchen fame premiered his new show tonight, Kitchen Nightmares. In this new show, Chef Ramsay is visiting restaurants which are on the brink of disaster and applies his own brand of tough love to get them back on track. Chef Ramsay has basically become the Nanny 911 of the restaurant world.
In tonight’s episode Chef Ramsay visited Peter’s a family owned Italian restaurant in Babylon, New York on the south shore of Long Island. Peter’s was once one of the top restaurants in Babylon but, the quality is declining, and the restaurant is not making the kind of money it used to make. After meeting the family Chef Ramsay sampled the food and the service where he found obvious problems. His criticism resulted in a shouting match in the kitchen clearly audible in the dining room. This set the stage for the entire episode. When he investigated the kitchen he found leaking refrigerators, broken ovens, and rotten food. The problems in th ...

Courtroom Updates: O.J. Bails and Spector Locks
2007-09-19 13:19:16
In lieu of stretching these out into two posts it’s easier to just wrap together all the past-their-prime celebrity court cases.
First up, O.J. Simpson with quite the string of charges: kidnapping, robbery with use of a deadly weapon, burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon, coercion with use of a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime. Simpson’s bail has been set at $125,000 and his lawyer, Galanter, said he expected him to be “processed and released fairly quickly.” O.J. hasn’t entered a plea so far. You can get all the arrest details and hear the audio of the robbery over on this post. More info at Y! News.
Switching gears from robbery to murder you’ve got Phil Spector. Following five months of trial and crazy hair the jury is claiming to be deadlocked:
The jury foreman, a 32-year-old civil engineer, told the judge that he saw ...

Book Review: The Spiderwick Chronicles
2007-09-19 12:00:52
This is a series of books I read last year with my son. Both of us enjoyed these books tremendously. When I heard that they would be releasing a Spiderwick Chronicles movie in February 2008, I was very excited. With all of the publicity this series will be getting as a result of the upcoming film, I thought I would write up a review for those interested in reading the books before the movie comes out.
The three young heroes, 9-year-old twins Jared and Simon Grace, and their 13-year-old sister Mallory Grace, are part of a newly divorced family. They have moved with their mother to the old, run-down, family estate at the edge of a small town. As the Grace children try to adjust to their new surroundings they discover a secret world populated by brownies, goblins, griffins, elves, and worse. In the first book they meet Thimbletack, the family’s house brownie, who is mighty unhappy with the new occupants of his home, especially when young Jared finds Arthur Spiderwick’s field ...

NBC Giving Away Cars With Season Premieres, I’ll Take Two
2007-09-19 10:00:47
Well heck, I was planning to watch most of these anyways, but now I’ll have to really pay attention to what’s going on. In a not-too-shabby marketing scheme to pull a bigger piece of the premiere week audience pie NBC is offering up 5 rides to its wisest viewers:
How much does NBC want you to watch its premieres? So much, they’re giving away 5 Collector’s Edition Nissan Rogues (Nissan’s latest SUV model), signed by Heroes creator Tim Kring–one per day of the week. Every night during the 9/8c time block, viewers will watch for a promo spot that asks a trivia question about the show they’re watching (Heroes on Monday, The Biggest Loser on Tuesday, Bionic Woman on Wednesday, The Office on Thursday, and Las Vegas on Friday). Viewers then visit www.nbc.com/nissan to answer the question and enter for a chance to win the car.
I’d like to know just where it is that Kring will be signing the car. On the flip side of the sun reflector? Co ...

Jackass’ Steve-O Returns To TV With Reality Show “Dr. Steve-O”
2007-09-19 08:00:47
While Jackass peaked for me back with the first movie they put it that certainly hasn’t stopped Bam or Steve-O from milking out their 15 mins. This time around Steve-O is heading back to reality TV in an apparent effort to offset everything Dr. Phil has ever said or done. Steve-O will now be known as “Dr. Steve-O” as he travels around looking to “de-wussify” the men who need it the most. As soon as you can admit that that includes you then the healing can begin.
Dr. Steve-O is set to premiere on USA on October 1st with an 11pm time slot designed to avoid the kiddies, good idea. If the good doctor isn’t enough of a draw for you then there’s always his sidekick nurse, Trishelle Cannatella, another reality TV star from The Real World and The Surreal Life. Not too bad as a blond this time around. Either way, I’m not too confident all those involved with walk away terribly pleased with their decisions to participate (yes, I’m ...

Big Brother 8: Season Finale Recap - Sept 18, 2007
2007-09-18 21:47:59
Tonight on Big Brother 8 we’ll finally learn who will be crowned the big winner. Will it be Dick or Daniele Donato? Does it really even matter with $550,000 going to the same family? Should Dick win I’d fully expect the money to be split. Should Daniele win I’d fully expect her to split. We’ll find out soon enough, so let’s get right into it!
The jury has gathered back at the sequester and Zach walks in just mid-sentence as Jen expresses her wishes to see Dick walk in. Everyone is disappointed at Zach’s arrival and to rub salt in his wounds Eric points out that if Zach had made it to the end he would have won 6-1. Well I’m sure that made Zach feel a whole lot better. Before the group really gets into it we learn that America has one last mission for Eric. His marching orders are to ensure Dick is our winner tonight, just as I expected. From what the jury has said so far that might be a tough job to accomplish.
Zach gets the rou ...

Heath Ledger Plays a Wicked Game with Helena Christensen
2007-09-18 12:00:56
Just two weeks ago news broke that Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams were parting ways. Apparently this cowboy rides fast because he’s already being reported to be out and dating Helena Christensen, the famous beauty from Chris Isaak’s music video for Wicked Game (video below). No word on who Williams was out dating. Maybe she was home taking care of their daughter instead. Crazy idea, huh?

Britney Spears To Lose Custody Today; Dignity Already Missing
2007-09-18 11:15:26
The un-surprise of the day turned out to be Fox News reporting that Britney Spears is about to lose custody of her children, at least temporarily:
Commissioner Scott Gordon will order the boys, 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James, turned over to Federline based on information that Los Angeles Family Court received over the weekend about Spears, the sources told FOXNews.com.
During Monday’s custody hearing, Spears’ former bodyguard accused the pop star of having “issues of nudity and drug use” since she returned from rehab, and reports of a planned “hit” on Federline emerged.
Nudity and drug use? Yeah, okay, those are worthy of pulling the kids, but come on, planning a hit on Federline? Raise your hand if you did not ask around for a hitman this year especially for a little Fed-Ex targetting. Exactly.

Big Brother 8: Great Season or Greatest Season?
2007-09-18 11:00:22
Okay, okay, settle down. I’ll put it right up front, I’m teasing when I question whether this was the “greatest season” of Big Brother. As every season draws to a close a chorus of voices raise up protesting the current season to be “the worst season of Big Brother ever,” and this season has been no different. I would instead challenge that this has in fact actually been a pretty entertaining season filled with all the staples of BB entertainment. We’ve had the romances and showmances, lies and betrayal, and most importantly we’ve had lots and lots of neurotic (and possibly psychotic) house guest moments. So while I won’t claim this to be the greatest season in Big Brother history, I’ll stand behind putting season 8 in the great category.
What makes for a great Big Brother season doesn’t involve the wacky house design or the non-factor “big twists” (more on that later), but rather it all comes down ...

Big Brother 8: Week 11 Season Finale Preview - Sept 18, 2007
2007-09-18 09:00:08
Update: Click here for our recap of tonight’s season 8 finale
We’ve finally come to the end of another season of Big Brother. Tonight the juror decides who gets the half million dollars Dick Donato or Daniele Donato. What I want to hear is if or how they split the money after the season ends. Dick sounds like he is looking to split the $550,000 evenly. Daniele on the other hand, doesn’t quite sound so excited about handing her Dad a pile of cash if she is the one that wins. Either way, the money is likely to strain their newly repaired relationship. I’m actually hoping that Dick wins. To be honest, I don’t like the guy. I don’t like his tactics. Basically Dick is, well… a Dick. But for all that, over the course of the season, at least where his daughter is concerned, he has managed to convince me that his heart is in the right place. Daniele on the other hand, is immature, and a conniving little, bi… you know what I mean. Se played ...

Big Brother 8: Craziest House Guests Ever!
2007-09-17 12:00:46
As I watched the season recap last night, I realized that Big Brother 8 was just chock full of complete nutters. In seasons past on Big Brother there have always been one or two real nut jobs in the house, you know just to make things interesting. This season though CBS out did itself. The BB8 house is like Bedlam without the straight jackets. Now I’m no health professional, but in my personal opinion there are a few folks in this house who needed some help. Lets take a quick look back at the mental health of some of this season’s house guests:
Kail: She seemed like a really nice lady. Frankly, I’m not sure if she really wasn’t a little bit crazy or she just hid it better than all of the other house guests.
Mike: He seemed like a good guy. Pretty stable at least until he threw himself on his sword for no apparent reason. Maybe not the brightest guy in the world but probably not too crazy.
Jessica-Carol: Ok, to still be bitter over a 3 dollar l ...
