Survivor China: Week 2 - The Stars Go Out In China
2007-09-27 21:36:42
Another week, another castaway and this week I wasn’t surprised at all. Things haven’t really seemed to change much in either of the tribes since last week. The Yellow Team, Zhan Hu, continues its descent into failure as no one seems to be getting along very well. Dave and Ashley continued to butt heads, which makes no sense to me at all. It’s really not just Ashley either though as the entire group seems to be moaning and groaning about the way Dave is leading the group. They keep wasting their energy with internal fighting instead of going after the opposing team.
Speaking of the other team, it’s like watching an entirely different show with this group. Well, most of the group at least. Jean-Robert is definitely showing up as the weak link so far, but he’ll tell you this is part of his plan. JR considers himself a master poker player, which apparently endowed him with super intelligence into the human psyche. I don’t how much I trust ...

Coming Soon: We Own the Night - Trailer & Details
2007-09-27 12:00:22
We Own the Night sounds like it might be a better title for the upcoming 30 Days of Night while the story itself seems to be a mix of The Departed and another upcoming movie, American Gangster. I go back and forth on this one when I see the trailer, so I’m not terribly sure what to expect with this one. The cast looks very solid all the way through, but the director, James Gray, has just a few under his belt and I’m not familiar with any of them. But get this, his last film, The Yards, was another New York crime/gangster/drama film starring Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg. That one didn’t even break the $1M mark. Second time the charm?
We Own the Night - Details:
Release Date: October 12, 2007
Genre: Drama and Crime/Gangster
Starring: Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg, Robert Duvall, Eva Mendes
Director: James Gray
Rating: R for strong violence, drug material, language, sexual content, and brief nudity.
We Own the Night - Plot:
Bobby Green has turned his bac ...

Survivor China: WWE Diva Ashley Massaro Photos
2007-09-27 10:00:30
Ashley Marie Massaro (born May 26, 1979) is an American model and professional wrestler, currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment wrestling on its SmackDown! brand. She was the winner of the RAW Diva Search 2005 and was on the cover of the April 2007 issue of Playboy Magazine. If you’re not into wrestling then you’re likely to recognize her from her stint on the current season of Survivor.
From the looks of things so far on Survivor Ashley is going to need to either really step up her game or bring the flirt on heavy. Considering she survived by a narrow margin at the tribal council the first week she doesn’t have much time to waste.
Enjoy these Ashley Massaro pics:

American Idol’s Simon Cowell Saves Lives
2007-09-27 08:00:35
American Idol’s Simon Cowell also judges on a number of other shows including the X Factor which is the biggest television talent competition in Europe. During one of these auditions, 46 year old singer Jacqui Gray’s voice sounded exceptionally peculiar. Simon told her “Something weird happens in your throat when you sing.” Now this sounds like one of Simon’s usually caustic remarks however this time Simon and fellow judge Sharon Osbourne thought Jacqui’s voice sounded so unusual that they encouraged her to seek medical attention. After the audition Gray went to see her doctor who forwarded her to a specialist. As it turns out, Gray had a potentially fatal lung condition which if undiagnosed could have killed her. Her condition is now being treated with with drugs and physiotherapy. Gray was quoted as saying “I was told that if I had not caught it in time it could have killed me, which is frightening… I am just so glad that Simon said s ...

Phil Spector Case Mistrials; DA Vows To Retry
2007-09-27 07:08:33
After 5 months of trial and 44 hours of jury deliberations a mistrial has been declared. Last week the jury was sitting at a 7-5 deadlock but was sent back with the instructions to try again. Turned out to just be a couple of hold outs, according to E! News:
A mistrial was declared Wednesday in the Phil Spector case with jurors deadlocked 10-2 despite 12 days of deliberations.
Almost immediately, the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office vowed to retry Spector, the reclusive producer of Wall of Sound-styled 1960s hits such as “Be My Baby,” “Unchained Melody” and “To Know Him Is to Love Him.”
Spector’s defense team was almost as quick—to register its gratitude.
“We thank the people of Los Angeles for keeping an open mind and the jury for their very hard work and willingness to share their thoughts with us,” Spector attorney Linda Kenney Baden said, per a local wire service.
Spector, 67, showed no emotion as the mistrial ...

After the last two nights of competition, here is how our couples stand to start off this evening:
Judges Leader Board
Sabrina & Mark: 26
Helio & Julianne: 25
Jane & Tony: 24
Mel & Maksim: 24

Cameron & Edyta: 21
Albert & Anna: 21
Mark & Kym: 21
Wayne & Cheryl: 19
Floyd & Karina: 18
Josie & Alec:16
I think it is a pretty good bet that it will be one of the bottom three couples who gets sent home tonight.
Judge’s Encore
This weeks Judge’s Encore was awarded to Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas. No surprise there they scored a 26 their first time out which is pretty good. Sabrina and Mark’s Cha Cha Cha was amazing and super hot. It looked like a performance from week 6 instead of week 1. Len actually said it may have been the best Cha Cha Cha they had ever seen. They are going to be a tough couple to beat. Being part of a dancing girl-band Sabrina has the same advantage Joey Fatone ...

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost to Star/Write New Comedy “Paul”
2007-09-26 12:00:38
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, your favorite UK duo from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are teaming back up. This time around they’ll be writing the screenplay as well as starring in their upcoming comedy, “Paul”. MTV spoke with Pegg for some details:
While the details were few and far between from Pegg, he did reveal the title and a little of the plot. “It’s called ‘Paul’ and it’s a road movie about two British geeks in America.” Pegg added that the film will be shot here in the States.
So will we see a similar dynamic between Simon and Nick as depicted in “Shaun” and Hot Fuzz”? Pegg laughed said, “No, it’s different actually. I’m the bitch in this one. This time Simon’s the bitch!”
It’ll definitely be interesting to see how their dynamic works when turned around. I’ll be glad for Frost to get a chance in the driver’s seat as he’s often the scene stealer.
In terrifying Simon Pegg news I learned that Pegg will be t ...

Dancing With The Stars 5 Week 1: Results Preview
2007-09-26 10:00:31
Here are the couples who will be performing tonight:
Over the past two nights we have seen the men and women perform. Tonight, the rubber hits the road. In the third night of this season’s three night season premiere, we say goodbye to our first star of the season. Here is a look at how the competition stands based on the judges scores:
Judges Leader Board
Sabrina & Mark: 26
Helio & Julianne: 25
Jane & Tony: 24
Mel & Maksim: 24
Jennie & Derek: 21
Marie & Jonathon: 21
Cameron & Edyta: 21
Albert & Anna: 21
Mark & Kym: 21
Wayne & Cheryl: 19
Floyd & Karina: 18
Josie & Alec:16
Sabrina & Mark and Helio & Julianne really stood out for their performances this week. These two couples along with Jane & Tony and Mel & Maksim seem to be the couples to beat. Jane Seymour is absolutely elegant but I’ll be interested to see how she does dancing a more energetic dance. The three couples on the bubble are obvious: Wayne &a ...

Halo 3: First Impressions of the Final Installment
2007-09-26 08:00:21
After two long years the final installment in the Halo trilogy has arrived and I was more than anxious to get over to the store this morning to pick up a copy. I wasn’t alone either as there was already a line forming outside the local Best Buy. While dozens marched to the counter to purchase the overpriced Legendary Edition I was satisfied to pick up the lowly $60 version promising me all the gameplay I needed sans the extra disc or unwearable MC helmet. Would this highly anticipated sequel live up to its expectations? While I haven’t gone all the way through this one yet I’ve definitely got a few impressions of how it has turned out.
First up, of course, are the graphics. This is the first game in the series that was created for the XBOX 360 versus the original console, so I was fully expecting everything to be top-notch. For the most part I think the graphics are very impressive. The lighting and environmental effects (water, etc.) look really cool and ...

Dancing With The Stars 5 Week 1: A Night Out With The Boys
2007-09-25 20:29:24
Last night the ladies showed us what they could do. Tonight the men have their turn on the dance floor to entertain and impress the judges and us. I liked the fact that they gave a brief intro to each of the stars before they danced. This was very helpful for me because there were a couple of stars that I didn’t know, for example, I really had no idea who Cameron Mathison was. Like the ladies, the men will dance either the Foxtrot or the Cha Cha Cha. Len described the Foxtrot as the “Rolls Royce of the ballroom dances”, it is all about grace and elegance. Len’s description of the Cha Cha Cha was a, “fun cheeky dance with a flirty flavor.” The women did a fair job for the first performance, lets see if the men did the same.
Cameron Mathison & Edyta Sliwinska
Dance: Foxtrot
I thought Cameron looked pretty good out their. He seemed a little stiff and his smiles seemed forced. I’m sure it was just nerves and as the season goes on he will l ...

Halo 3 Released Today; Grab Your Gear & Let’s Get Ready
2007-09-25 12:00:42
The Halo trilogy is ready to be completed today as the third and final installment rolls out onto the shelves today. You can bet that I’ll be heading to the store and picking up a copy, but let me tell you what, should this be another way-too-short installment in the series I’m going to be pissed off. Couple that with high expectations for graphics over the previous version and I’m a little timid rushing in to this one. Hopefully all will be well and I’ll be knee deep in Covenant and orders from Cortana in a blissful state later tonight. What about you? Ready to fight some more of the Flood?
In case you’ve been living under a rock or are just coming into the world of XBOX then here are all the details on what to expect in Halo 3:
Halo 3 is the third game in the Halo Trilogy and the thrilling conclusion to the events begun in Halo: Combat Evolved. Master Chief returns to finish the fight, bringing the epic conflict between the Covenant, the Flood ...

Death on the Set of Batman: The Dark Knight
2007-09-25 10:41:40
Reuters is reporting a death has occurred on the London set of the latest Batman film, The Dark Knight. No, it wasn’t Bale or Caine. Geez, why is everyone only concerned with the big names?
A crew member involved in the filming of the new Batman movie has died in a car accident on the set, police said on Tuesday. The special effects technician was killed when his 4×4 vehicle crashed into a tree during a dummy film run involving the “Batmobile.”
The incident happened on a property near Chertsey, Surrey, on Monday afternoon.
Surrey Police and the Health and Safety Executive said they were investigating a workplace fatality on a London film set.
The Associated Press offers a few more details on the victim’s involvement with the situation:
The studio said the man, who was not identified, died when a truck carrying a camera platform crashed into a tree while following a stunt vehicle on Monday. Filming on the movie, “The Dark Knight,” was not ...

Dancing With The Stars 5 Week 1: Men’s Performance Preview
2007-09-25 10:00:43
Here are the couples who will be performing tonight:
Tonight, it is the men’s turn to strut their stuff on the dance floor. They may have some real competition from Sabrina, Jane, and Melanie. Although I’m going to guess that Floyd will have some moves as will Helio. I’m actually a little frightened to see what Mark Cuban comes up with. That guy is a little weird to say the least. My guess is that he is going to be this season’s Jerry Springer.
Couples performing tonight are:
Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough
Mark Cuban and Kym Johnson
Cameron Mathison and Edyta Sliwinska
Floyd Mayweather and Karina Smirnoff
Wayne Newton and Cheryl Burke
Albert Reed and Anna Trebunskaya
Read all about how the ladies performed last night on the season premiere of DWTS. If you want to check out pictures of this season’s stars (or your still not sure who some of them are take a look at our DWTS Season Preview.

NBC Monday Night Premieres: A Mixed Bag of Emotions & Reactions
2007-09-25 09:00:55
I was thrilled and excited to finally get to settle in for a night of NBC premieres after hyping them for over four months now. I decided to start with Chuck and see how far I got through the night. It was a bit of a roller coaster of emotions for me though as I sat through the two and a half hours of TV dramedy, dramaction, and dra-huh? That last one explains why it was only 2.5 hours instead of the full 3 for me. I’ve already started to hear some feedback from our readers on what they thought so I wanted to go ahead and share my reactions to each of the three premieres.
First up was Chuck, the action / comedy / drama starring our hero, a member of the Nerd Herd (think Geek Squad) who has come into possession of all the nation’s secrets. Fortunately/unfortunately for him the secrets are embedded in his brain making him a high value target for the bad guys and a high value prize for the good guys. The pace of this pilot was great and wasted no time diving into th ...
