Big Brother 9 Twist Revealed: Soulmates; Really?
2008-02-05 14:29:00
CBS seems to feel that Big Brother and twists go together like pretzels and cream cheese. What? Just me? Ah well. So yeah, we know that every season in recent memory Big Brother has produced some rather interesting moments and mostly those have had nothing to do with weak twists. Last season it was “Worst Enemies” which turned out to be “Protect Me Daddy!” with Dick and Daniele (kudos on the win) and then before in season 6 we had roommates and friends. That one fell even flatter. This year will be no different with CBS’ announcement of the Big Brother 9 twist: Soulmates.
As I mentioned earlier last season’s pairing between Dick and Daniele proved to be the most powerful duo ever. That’s a tough claim too considering Dr. Will and Mike who share wins on Big Brother. I suspect those two would have rocked the final 2 if they had handled their women situation a little better. Since Kirby had to fall on his sword to save his friend I&rsqu ...

Arrested Development Is Closer To Becoming A Movie
2008-02-05 12:00:44
Few things make me as happy as an episode of Arrested Development. So the recurring news of the potential for an Arrested Development movie makes me very excited. Jason Bateman has been dropping hints for awhile of the discussions and here he goes again in an interview with E! News:
“I can confirm that a round of sniffing has started,” Bateman says. “Any talk is targeting a poststrike situation, of course. I think, as always, that it’s a question of whether the people with the money are willing to give our leader, Mitch Hurwitz, what he deserves for his participation. And I can speak for the cast when I say our fingers are crossed.”
Best of all it sounds like everyone is onboard. Officially they’ve only singled out Bateman and his on-screen father Tambor as having talked with producer Ron Howard, but the rest are grouped as giving positive reactions. I don’t think this is one of those stories that could be done without the original cas ...

American Idol Season 7 Atlanta Auditions Preview - Feb 5, 2008
2008-02-05 10:00:49
This is it, the final week of auditions then we are on to Hollywood. The commercials during the Super Bowl implied that Hollywood started tonight. Hopefully not too many people will be disappointed when they are in Atlanta, Georgia instead. The one interesting fact revealed in the commercials was that 164 hopefuls were sent to Hollywood. The narrowing of the field actually begins next week.
Make sure you tune in to the auditions tonight. You don’t want to miss Ryan in a big yellow hat or… well… this guy. It just amazes me what some people will do for attention. Most of them on national TV. See you tonight.

Exclusive Super Bowl Celebrity Sighting
2008-02-04 20:07:18
Wild Bluff Media Special Super Bowl Correspondents, Joe & Joe, have returned from the Super Bowl XLII with exclusive photos. While hey were not able to get pictures of the game or half-time show (as they may not be used without the expressed written consent of the NFL). We can give you a quick peek inside and outside the stadium before so you can get a feel for what it looked like. As you can see Joe & Joe are still in denial over the Greenbay Packers loss to the NY Giants. (Don’t worry guys Favre will be back next year).
Joe & Joe also had a number of celebrity encounters. This is a picture of John Krasinski from hit NBC television show The Office, headed into University of Phoenix Stadium. Krasinski was obviously dressed down but the sharp eyes of our correspondents picked him out. Joe also had a chance to briefly talk with Larry David of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm fame. When I say a brief conversation, I mean, Joe said ‘You’re the man! ...

Heidi Montag’s “Higher” Video; Could It Get Any Lower?
2008-02-04 16:32:50
There’s no easy way to break this to you, but disturbingly Heidi Montag of the scripted reality show “The Hills” has decided that following her nose job and implants she should pursue a music career with her new single “Higher”. Sure, why not, right? I mean that no talent hack Hilton did the same thing and was really successful at it. Wait, what? She wasn’t? Oh, that’s right. Well grab your parachute because this plane is plunging fast.
Maybe you didn’t hear me or maybe you’re a bit masochistic because at this point you’re still reading and are getting dangerously close to the video of Montag’s “Higher”. There aren’t any lyrics for the first 33 seconds which thankfully allows just under 3 minutes for “singing” and jazz hands. The whole thing looks like they shot it on a cell phone and isn’t much more than Heidi prancing around in her bikini on the beach. Montag seems to onl ...

Sylvester Stallone Signs Up For 2 More Action Movies
2008-02-04 12:01:49
If you’ve been out at the theaters supporting Sylvester Stallone’s recent reemergence as an action hero in “Rocky Balboa” and “Rambo” then you’ll be happy to hear that there will be more opportunities for the 62 year old movie star. Reuters has the details on Stallone’s new movie deal:
Boxoffice comeback champ Sylvester Stallone has inked a lucrative deal to direct and star in two action films with “Rambo” producers Danny Dimbort.
Several scripts are being considered for follow-ups to his surprise hit sequels to “First Blood” and “Rocky.” With Nu Image/Millennium’s new Writers Guild of America interim deal speeding up the process, the first script is expected to be ready by the fall, with production set to begin shortly thereafter.
This news follows on the heels of Stallone making the statement that there won’t be another Rambo film. So this raises the question of could Stallone still ca ...

American Idol at the Super Bowl: How Much Is Too Much?
2008-02-04 10:00:11
I know after yesterday’s NY Giants upset or the New England Patriots, the question in everyone’s mind is, “Could FOX have possibly plugged American Idol any more during the Super Bowl?” American Idol is arguably the most popular show on Network Television every spring. So was it really necessary to American Idol push it so heavily during the Super Bowl pre-game festivities? The primary American Idol tie-ins were during the Super Bowl red carpet.
Which begs the question, ‘Do we really need a red carpet at the Super Bowl?’ The short answer is no. I know that with nothing sports related on TV for two weeks except for Super Bowl analysis and the Winter X Games that the teams have been sized up every possible way. I still like to watch it that as part of the pre-game show to help me get geared up. I’m not interested in which celebrities are there or what they are wearing. Now that I’ve ranted about the red carpet, I’ll get back to the t ...

Weekend Movie Box Office Earnings: February 1 - 3, 2008
2008-02-04 08:00:37
Well holy Montana, take a look at these box office results for the weekend. While normally you’d expect a highly marketed movie like “The Eye” to be the top earner on an opening weekend the top honors instead went to Hannah Montana’s prerecorded concert event “Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour“. Montana took the top spot by earning $29 million, more than twice the pull of #2 with Jessica Alba’s “The Eye”. What’s amazing is that Montana only had 683 theaters while “Eye’ had four times that 2,400+ theaters, meaning Miley Cyrus averaged $37K more a theater screen. If you’re looking for the other new movies this weekend then you won’t find them in the top ten. “Over Her Dead Body” did better than it should have with $4.6 million at #11 and Steve Zahn’s “Strange Wilderness” at #13 with just $3.0 million. Hopefully this means an end to Eva Longor ...

WGA Strike Is “99.9 percent” Over Says Inside Source
2008-02-02 20:20:29
Ready for a return of scripted television? Well it looks like you may get your wish. Matej over at HeroesTelevision.com just sent over a tip that the strike’s end is imminent, according to E! News:
According to reliable insiders who asked not to be named, the writers and producers were in talks for nine hours yesterday and made a “staggering amount of progress,” as all of the major sticking points have been settled.
“We are 99.9 percent of the way there,” one source inside the negotiations said. “As of late yesterday, just a few small issues remained.”
“There is most certainly light at the end of the tunnel, and we are rapidly approaching it.”
Well that’s a relief, but thank goodness it didn’t come any sooner of they might have decided against a rushed Big Brother 9!
Got a tip for Wild Bluff Media? Send it over and we’ll give you a plug!

Weekend Movie Preview: Trailers & Details February 1 - 3, 2008
2008-02-01 11:00:05
Here are your movie previews for this weekend, February 1 - 3, 2008.
The Eye
Starring: Jessica Alba, Alessandro Nivola, Parker Posey
Director: David Moreau Xavier Palud
Genre: Drama / Horror / Thriller
Rating: PG-13 for violence/terror and disturbing content.
Plot: A young woman (Alba) receives an eye transplant that — like it or not — allows her to see into the supernatural world.
Note: I think it’s probably worth pointing out the trailer seems to give away the resolution to the whole issue when you see the bits of glass flying into her eyes at the end. That’s how she’ll be blinded again so these visions will go away. That scene can’t be the accident that caused her blindness as she seems to have always had the issue as the doctor points out that she’s never seen before. Nicely done studio folks. We can save our $10 now.
Check showtimes and buy tickets now to The Eye

NBC Picks Up “Gladiators For Kids”; “Mother Approved” Still Pending
2008-02-01 08:00:29
Inevitably when something is doing well somewhere someone will find a way to make more money off it. Kinda like me with all those hundreds of “I’m Hung on William Hung” t-shirts that I was sure would sell even hotter than my “Brad & Jennifer 4 Ever” emblazoned hoodies. Hmm, okay, not the best example. Hopefully the folks at NBC have a better idea of what sells because they just picked up a renewal of “Gladiators 2000″, a kid focused spin-off of the recently rejuvenated “American Gladiators” series. Now you’re probably wondering why it’s called “Gladiators 2000″ considering we’re well past that point in time. That’s because “2000″ is originally from back in 1994 with none other than Ryan Seacrest as its host. This was Seacrest’s first hosting gig and may have been his last, I can’t remember hearing of him from anywhere else. The Hollywood Reporter offers more det ...

DeAnna Pappas To Be “The Bachelorette”
2008-01-31 14:00:42
ABC has decided that after a three year year hiatus that they will be bringing back a new season of The Bachelorette this summer. While no one at ABC has stated why the sudden return, I would guess it has something to do with the need to fill TV time without any writers. That’s why Big Brother 9 is going on this spring and so many other reality shows are returning to the airwaves earlier than expected. This will be the 4th Season of the Bachelorette. The previous season began in January 2005 and featured Jen Schefft the girl chosen and later dumped by Season 3 Bachelor Andrew Firestone.
It sounds like this season’s bachelorette may also be a bachelor alumni. Remember DeAnna from last season’s The Bachelor? If not DeAnna Pappas was one of the final two girls that Bachelor Brad Womack had to choose from, when at the last minute Brad decided not to choose either girl. Well DeAnna is going to be given her chance. She will be The Bachelorette Season 4’s star. Now i ...
