The stakes are high for Reynolds, and comparisons to Clooney don’t help ease the pressure. Travel has been a critical escape hatch since, as a 20-year-old just a year away from starring in the ABC sitcom Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, he bought a ticket to Paris on a whim, leaving with nothing but a knapsack. The trip was, he says, “the beginning of an understanding of how to balance it all.” Since then, he’s motorbiked through Australia and explored Indonesia.
This fall, he’s working in L.A. on The Paper Man, a drama about a writer convinced that his imaginary friend has come to life. It’s another offbeat role – a character that we may not all love and that may not get the laughs or the girl. But this will be another complex character in which Reynolds can lose himself, in which we lose sight of him and out of which, perhaps, he’ll emerge not just as a star but as an actor.

Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams Bite the Dust

The latest high-profile couple to split are Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams. The couple has been together for three years and have a daughter Matilda, who was born in October 2005. The pair met while filming Brokeback Mountain in 2004. Apparently the split came as no surprise to close friends of the couple.
“It was rocky for awhile,” says a source close to the couple. “They did what they could to make it work.”
The source says the split was amicable.
I’m not surprised by this at all. When your man is filming a movie like Brokeback Mountain,he is probably gay. Extremely gay. This typically leads to one result when he is with a woman: splitsville. I guess it will be interesting to see what guy Heath ends up choosing as his “life-partner.”

Anybody who needs some posh presents for a new baby might want to check the trash outside Bridget Moynahan ’s house. I have a feeling there’s some great stuff in there.
A rep for Petit Tresor, an upscale children’s store in Los Angeles, confirmed that her estranged baby-daddy, Tom Brady, had phoned in an order.
His new girlfriend, Gisele Bundchen, paid for a separate order in the same phone call. Included in Gisele’s $1,000 gift basket was a onesie with the word “supermodel” written across it. Which is exactly what you want when your boyfriend leaves you for a Brazilian supermodel just after you get pregnant.

“It was a scary moment,” one witness said of the instant Pitt fall into the arms of the woman, who beamed (inset) even as the actor’s security goons yanked her off him. “[Pitt’s] security team must have been embarrassed that she was able to get that close to him,” the onlooker told The Daily Mail of London. “She could have been anyone. Brad didn’t look happy about it at all.”

Bring on the booty! Mom-to-be Salma Hayek, 41, cleaned up at the August 15 baby shower held at her home in the Hollywood Hills.
The nine-months-pregnant Hayek (dad is her fiancé, Francois-Henri Pinault, 45, CEO of luxury goods company PPR) even received doubles of several gifts off her registry at L.A.’s NoMi Boutique. She got Petunia Pickle Bottom Cake bags in both black ($325) and pink ($425), as well as two Bloom high chairs ($400 each) and Graco Snug Ride car seats ($130 each). “She was very excited about everything,” said Pia Lindstrom, who attended the party, where guests – including Hayek’s mother – enjoyed homemade Mexican food.
“She was full of pregnancy glow and looked so happy.”
For Hayek, the baby can’t come fast enough. “Motherhood is not for everyone,” she has said. “It is for me.” And though Hayek has not yet announced whether she’s expecting a boy or a girl, think pink: A source says gift cards were made out to “Valentina.”

Two new songs, purported to be by our favorite unhinged mother, have cropped up on the Internet and one, Cold As Fire is a shockingly explicit, adult-only affair.The other, her comeback single Gimme More, is a classy, stripped-back, pop jam.
Cold As Fire contains couplets about oral sex as well as a burst of breathtakingly creative swearing. In it Brit sings: “I’m just the girl with the ability to drive a man crazy/ Make him **** in my mouth/ Make him my new baby. “Little legend you can look but don’t touch because/ I’m cold as fire baby and hot as ice/ If you’ve ever been to heaven this is twice as nice.”
The second verse begins with this mystifying rhyme: “The foolishness and f***ery and handling my bizness/ Hola if you hear me/ Can I get a witness?
