The site’s not dead. It’s merely… regenerating. Not in as dramatic a way as a Time Lord, I’ll admit, but regenerating nonetheless. ...

Stargate Atlantis Episode Titles
2007-08-19 18:10:31
Contains Minor Spoilers
I often compain about the poor standard (I feel) of SGA episode names - they’re just so damned bland and uninspiring.
Titles such as “Adrift”, “Lifeline”, “Reunion”, “Travellers” and “Missing” are hardly the literature titles that will be remembered in a thousand years. What’s worse, these are the names of the next five episodes of the show. In a row.
How dull.
However, whilst flicking through the upcoming episodes I discovered that the midseason episodes this year are to be called ” This Mortal Coil” and “Be All My Sins Remember’d”
Now THAT’s more like it. They may be stolen from Shakespeare, but it’s a start! Way to go Atlantis writers! More of this please.
Oh wait, one after that’s called “Trio”.
*Sigh* ...

“Babylon 5 – The Lost Tales”
2007-08-09 22:18:33
Everything you’ve read is true. I guess, in hindsight, JMS was facing a “lose/lose” scenario here. Which makes one wonder why he even bothered. Two of the show’s main cast have shuffled off their mortal coil(“Gone beyond the Rim”, as the show eloquently puts it), the budget he was allotted looks like it might have covered lunch on a weekday shoot of the original show and Straczynski himself seems to be under his perpetual “I am currently working on eight projects at the moment”/none of which receive his full attention, thus making for a middling end product that could have used a good editor……or at least another bit of firm guidance from Harlan Ellison.
The first story involves(now)Colonel Elizabeth Lochley who must face a paranormal(aren’t they all nowadays?)threat to the staion. She does the sensible thing(read sarcasm here)and brings in a priest to Linda Blair the guy. A more talky and awkward piece you are going to have a hard time finding. Note to JMS: ...

“Reboot” is Rebooted
2007-07-23 17:44:04
Yahoo News
“ReBoot,” one of the earliest computer-animated episodic TV series, will be redeveloped as a trilogy of feature-length films by Rainmaker Animation.
Originally produced in 1994, the series centered on life within a computer, where good forces fought invading viruses and videogames were viewed from within.
“ReBoot” was created by MainFrame Entertainment, which was acquired by and renamed Rainmaker in 2006. The show aired for several seasons on ABC, YTV and Cartoon Network.
“The idea is to relaunch the brand in a new way,” said Rainmaker Animation executive vice president Paul Gertz, who will oversee the project.
To do this, Rainmaker has entered into a strategic alliance with Zeros 2 Heroes, a Web site set to launch Monday (July 23) to provide a social network for comic book fans.
Five undiscovered writers chosen by Rainmaker were selected to work with the animation studio’s production teams to prepare a pitch for the new “ReBoo ...

The Power of the Daleks
2007-07-17 15:36:04
One greedy politician wants money.
One overzealous politician wants control of a space colony.
One misguided scientist wants scientific knowledge.
One group of mistreated citizens want a new leadership.
And the Daleks? Well, they want power.
Of course, the newly regenerated Doctor and his companions, Ben and Polly, are caught in the middle.
I’ve begun watching the fan reconstructions of the missing Patrick Troughton serials, beginning of course with his first serial. While I had a little bit of trouble getting into the story during the first part because of the lack of footage (just poor resolution stills), the poor sound quality, and minor trouble keeping all of the various voices apart (besides The Doctor), I found myself thoroughly enjoying the serial because of the dynamics I listed above and how the Daleks’ role in the story was different from the other Dalek stories I’ve seen (i.e. all of them after Day of the Daleks). I was greatly amused by how the Daleks fi ...

Farscape To Return
2007-07-16 04:32:26
What happens when you can’t get “Farscape” back as a full-fledged series? Why not just simply move it to the Web.
Fans who still have dart boards with SciFi Channel executives on it might be ready to take those pictures down as the network has announced it is bringing back its cult favorite “Farscape” as a new Web series.
No word has been announced on when such a project would be released, or how long each episode would be (or who will star), but SciFi Channel officials said they have ordered a 10-part series based on “Farscape” that will be executive produced by Brian Henson and Robert Halmi Jr. Just like the original series, this Web series will be produced by the Jim Henson Co. and RHI Entertainment.

ST XI:Nimoy In, Shatner Out
2007-07-11 10:51:38
William Shatner has confirmed that he will not be appearing in any way in the new Star Trek film, due out Boxing Day ‘08. He has revealled that Leonard Nimoy will be appearing in some manner as Spock. The film is currently touted as a “re-imagining” of the early days of Kirk’s Enterprise and set some time before the now legendary five year mission. Casting details are apparently soon to be finalized. ...

2007-07-03 11:14:34
If you’re wondering why the updates on the site have slowed slighty, it’s because Chris (me!) is on vacation in rainy England at the moment. I’ll be back July 15th with some mega-updates I’m sure.
Brad and Mel will keep things ticking over with articles while I’m away! (They’re excellent, aren’t they? :) ) ...

The Trial of a Time Lord
2007-06-29 18:58:17
I want to preface this review with the fact that going into this story arc, I had enjoyed Colin Baker’s performance as The Doctor (as I later did in The Trial of a Time Lord) and I found that the disdain for his interpretation grossly overexaggerated. With this in mind, I had hoped the same was true for The Trial of a Time Lord. Alas, it’s mostly spot on.
The Mysterious Planet started off well enough with a beautiful location scenery, lovely incidental music, and an interesting mystery, but it quickly devolved into an annoying mess. Populated with annoying characters such as Katyrca, Drathro, and The Twin Dilemma wannabe pair, Tandrell and Humker, the plotting quickly became boring, especially with the incessant and unnecessary interruptions to the trial. The only redeeming qualities are the creation of Sabalom Glitz and the return of Tom Chadbon (the lovable Duggan in City of Death).
Just as the serial before it, Mindwarp started off nicely (again with beautiful scener ...
