Song To The Siren
2007-10-15 17:28:28
On the floating, shapeless oceans I did all my best to smile til your singing eyes and fingers drew me loving into your eyes. And you sang "Sail to me, sail to me; Let me enfold you." Here I am, here I am waiting to hold you. Did I dream you dreamed about me? Were you here when I was full sail? Now my foolish boat is leaning, broken love lost on your rocks. For you sang, "Touch me not, touch me not, come back tomorrow." Oh my heart, oh my heart shies from the sorrow. I'm as puzzled as a newborn child. I'm as riddled as the tide. Should I stand amid the breakers? Or shall I lie with death my bride? Hear me sing: "Swim to me, swim to me, let me enfold you." "Here I am. Here I am, waiting to hold you."

Divorced women have worse health
2007-10-12 12:18:05
Women may give up more than a husband by divorcing — they may also lose some of their good health, according to a study by Iowa State University . The study, spanning 10 years, focused on what happens to rural women's health after their marriage ends, compared with women who stay married, said Fred Lorenz, who co-authored the report. The findings came from data gathered from rural Iowa women who were interviewed three times in the early 1990s, and again in 2001. All 416 women interviewed were the mothers of adolescent children when the study began. Among them, 102 women were recently divorced. During the years immediately after divorce — from 1991 to 1994 — the divorced women reported 7 percent higher levels of psychological distress than married women. They did not report any differences in physical illness at that time. A decade later, however, the divorced women reported 37 percent more physical illness, but no difference in psychological stress that could ...

When a Woman Smells Best
2007-10-09 19:15:43
The scent of a woman is more attractive at certain times of the month, suggests a new study that had men sniffing women's armpit odor.
"We were interested whether armpit odor changes across menstrual cycle," said study author Jan Havlieek of the Department of Anthropology at Charles University, Prague. "To test this, we asked a group of women to wear cotton pads in their armpits for 24 hours."
The women didn't wear perfumes, use deodorants, eat spicy or smelly foods, smoke, drink alcohol or use hormonal contraceptives such as the pill. Body odor was collected during three phases: menstrual (at the beginning); follicular (between the first day of menstruation and the onset of ovulation); and luteal (the fertile stage).
"The fresh pads were subsequently rated for their attractiveness and intensity by a group of 42 men," Havlieek told LiveScience.
The most attractive smells, men said, were from the time between the first day of menstruation and o ...

Bad marriages hurt the heart
2007-10-09 08:47:20
A lousy marriage might literally make you sick. Marital strife and other bad personal relationships can raise your risk for heart disease, researchers reported Monday.
What it likely boils down to is stress ? a well-known contributor to health problems, as well as a potential byproduct of troubled relationships, the scientists said.
In a study of 9,011 British civil servants, most of them married, those with the worst close relationships were 34 percent more likely to have heart attacks or other heart trouble during 12 years of follow-up than those with good relationships. That included partners, close relatives and friends.
The study, in Monday's Archives of Internal Medicine, follows previous research that has linked health problems with being single and having few close relationships. In the new study, researchers focused more on the quality of marriage and other important relationships.
"What we add here is that, 'OK, being married is in general good, but be car ...

Natural Aphrodisiacs
2007-10-09 06:47:36
Well everyone has heard of or even tried some sort of outside element that they believed may improve their sex life. No, I'm not referring to Viagra or the family dog; I'm talking about aphrodisiacs. What is an aphrodisiac? Well, it can be a drug, scent, food, drink, or device that some claim (usually those who market them) may kindle or increase sexual desire. Basically, aphrodisiacs are products that enhance sexual performance. But for your wallet's sake, today's sex tip includes natural aphrodisiacs; in other words, stuff that you would either have around the house anyway, or natural ingredients which don't require you to skip around the room on one foot while chanting ancient Chinese proverbs.
it's all in your head
Now before I delve into all the yummy stuff that may cause your penis to remain erect for hours on end, keep in mind that the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) declares that there's no scientific evidence whatsoever that proves that ...

Meeting People Online, Is It Safe?
2007-10-07 05:25:44
Perhaps you have considered using online personal ads or dating services, such as Webpersonals, but you have not yet tried them. You are curious, but you also feel somewhat hesitant. For some of us, especially for women, we have concerns. Is it safe? You may be thinking, "Yeah, sure, I'd like to meet someone new, but how do I make sure it is not some weirdo, or creepy stalker, or something!"
Remember: most people using online dating services, such as Webpersonals, are looking for the same thing you are: friendship, romance, and the possibility of finding "the one." Most of them are nice, decent people. Many of them are busy professionals whose work lives make it difficult for them to meet potential dating or relationship partners in more "conventional" ways. It is very reasonable to have concerns about safety, but we also need to keep them in perspective: Actually, meeting people in Cyberspace is probably safer than meeting people in a bar or even t ...

Flirting: 10 Tips to Make
2007-10-07 05:23:00
ou don't have to look like Jennifer Anniston or Brad Pitt to make the guys (or girls) go gaga. All you need is your fabulous smile and a few surefire flirting tips like the ones you'll find below to attract the opposite sex like paparazzi to a movie star. For women, the key is to look approachable enough for men to feel comfortable in taking a risk. For men, the secret is in showcasing your masculinity. (And no, that doesn't mean adjusting yourself or proving once and for all that you are the Belching King.) 1) Lock Eyes Lock eyes with the person you're flirting with for a full five to six seconds, then smile and drop your gaze. Don't stare a hole through the guy's forehead for goodness sake, just give him a smoldering come-hither look and look away. Do this at least three times in a ten to fifteen-minute period. Why? Your target needs to know it's them you're flirting with, and eye contact is a universal signal of openness. 2) Smile Smiling ...

Sleepwalking woman had sex with strangers
2007-10-07 05:21:18
leep medicine experts have successfully treated a rare case of a woman having sex with strangers while sleepwalking.
The behaviour had disrupted the lives of the woman and her partner. At night while asleep, the middle-aged sleepwalker - who lives in Australia and cannot be identified for reasons of confidentiality - left her house and had sexual intercourse with strangers. The behaviour continued for several months and the woman had no memory of her nocturnal activities.
Circumstantial evidence, such as condoms found scattered around the house, alerted the couple to the problem. On one occasion, her partner awoke to find her missing, went searching for her and found her engaged in the sex act.
“Incredulity is the leading player in cases like this,” says Peter Buchanan, the sleep physician at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research in Sydney, who handled the case. But a combination of factors convinced him that the case was a real sleepwalking phenomenon, including the d ...

Woman's beauty
2007-10-07 05:16:19
If you only have five minutes to pick a mate, you're likely to do it the way your ancestors did, with men seeking beauty and women looking for security, wealth and commitment. It's an ancient formula but one still very much in play in modern "speed dating," said researchers reporting in the current Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences."Evolutionary theories in psychology suggest that men and women should trade off different traits in each other, and when we look at the actual mate choices people make, this is what we find evidence for," researcher Peter Todd, cognitive scientist at Indiana University, said in a prepared statement. "Ancestral individuals who made their mate choices in this way -- women trading off their attractiveness for higher quality men and men looking for any attractive women who will accept them -- would have had an evolutionary advantage in greater numbers of successful offspring."Speed dating involves sessions i ...

Shakira donates 40 million dollars to Peru and Nicaragua
2007-10-04 19:21:39
After getting hundreds of pledges to tackle the world's problems at his philanthropic summit this past week, former President Bill Clinton did what any good host would: He threw a party. Music, celebrity and politics mixed Saturday night at Harlem's Apollo Theatre, where Clinton was joined by Bono, Chris Rock, Shakira and Alicia Keyes for a roundtable discussion on youth activism.
Clinton called on each young member of the audience to "be a citizen servant, a giver, because we have to have a vital society," before announcing the Clinton Global Initiative's first youth summit, called CGI U, planned for next year at Tulane University in New Orleans. Like the three-day Clinton Global Initiative philanthropic summit this week, the college version aims to bring together attendees to tackle global issues like sustainable development and poverty. ...
