A finger on sexuality
2007-08-02 04:54:11
A finger on sexuality BBC Finger length may be an indication of sexual orientation, a controversial study has shown. Scientists from California found that lesbian women have a greater difference in length between their ring finger and index finger than straight women do. The same pattern was also found for homosexual men - but only when the researchers looked at those males that had several older brothers. The scientists from the University of California at Berkeley were testing a theory that higher levels of androgen - male sex hormones - in the womb influence both finger length and sexual orientation. They did this by looking at the hands of 720 men and women on the streets of San Francisco. The volunteers had their fingers measured and were asked questions about their sexual orientation and the number of older brothers and sisters in the family. In women, the ring finger and index finger tend to be about the same length. In men, however, the index finger is usually the shorter ...

Men chose sleep over sex

Men chose sleep over sex
The favoured option
When it comes to sex men are better on theory than they are in practice.
A survey has confirmed the long-held belief that men spend much of their time day-dreaming about sex.
But the fast pace of modern life leaves them too tired for the real thing.
In fact, given the chance of an extra hour in bed, most working men say they would rather spend it asleep than having sex.
The survey, for vitamins company Berocca, found that more than six out of ten men say that work is the most demanding part of their life.
And it seems to take a heavy toll. More than half said they were simply too tired for a social life, or to have sex when they got home after a busy day.
Thinking of sex
However, most men were not too tired or stressed at work to fantasise about sex - even at inappropriate times.

Sex makes women happy
2007-07-29 19:11:14
But what about chocolate? Having sex is the high point of most women's days, while commuting is the low point. And most women like being with their kids less than they admit, says a new study. While the results may not seem startling, the method used to assess mood is a new and more accurate way of figuring out how happy people are, the researchers report in the latest issue of the journal Science. They propose that their tool could be used to plan social policy. "Current measures of wellbeing and quality of life need to be significantly improved," said Dr Richard Suzman of the National Institute on Aging, which helped fund the study. "In the future I predict that this approach will become an essential part of national surveys seeking to assess the quality of life." For the study, Professor David Schkade of the University of California, San Diego and team studied more than 900 women. Usually, people are asked about ...

Spray to boost female sex drive
2007-07-29 04:11:57
Spray works for young women
A spray that helps increase women's enjoyment of sex has undergone successful trials.
The spray, developed by Australian company Acrux, contains the male sex hormone testosterone.
It was initially designed with post-menopausal women in mind, but has also been shown to work for young women with a low libido.
Acrux plans to carry out larger trials, and does not expect the spray to come to market for several years.
The spray could make an enormous difference to the quality of many women's lives
Professor Susan Davis
The spray was tested over four months in three doses on 261 women with a low sex drive and low testosterone levels.

GPod vibrator hits high note with Japanese women
2007-07-28 12:22:23
HE Japanese love technology so much that now even sex toys are on the cutting edge.
The “gPod”, a phallic-shaped vibrator, is designed to respond automatically to sounds picked up by an accompanying handset, which can plug into anything from a telephone to a music player to a television.
The ¥25,000 ($243) gPod was one of a number of toys that went on public view today at Japan's first-ever sex toy expo in suburban Tokyo.
“You can use it in many ways, for example hooking it up to your mobile phone,” said Ichiro Kameda, the machine's inventor.
“The dildo vibrates through the same waves as a voice. "So one of the ideas is that you can use it here in Tokyo when your boyfriend in New York is talking to you on the phone.”
Kameda said he had spent four years trying to design a product when he hit upon the concept. He declined to say how the idea came to him.
Nearly 160 companies or groups are exhibiting products and services at the three ...
