Things which rattle my cage!
2008-02-02 11:36:21
I’m quite enjoying the peace and quiet at the moment, Christmas was exceptionally busy for us as a company – sales are up on last year, so I just need to find some ways to carry this through the rest of the year… …I don’t know how you guys have found things, but sometimes people out there have a habit of knocking us down. Forever in the news we are seeing reports of teenagers causing gang riots, shooting people, going for Guinness World Records in ASBO holding, it goes on and on. I’ve decided that it’s suddenly got my goat. So this could be the subject of my blog entry. Now I know there’s no point in preaching to the converted but doesn’t it get you down sometimes? There are so many hardworking young people out there, but so often their talents go un-noted. Adam, I do realise that this is the purpose of this site… However, how often do we see the press reporting on great achievements by young people? I Googled “great achievements by young people” this mo ...
Introduction to Lizzyspit
2008-01-29 17:39:41
My name is Elizabeth and I’m a singer/songwriter based in London. I’m 22 years old and have recently changed my ’stage name’ to Lizzyspit. After a few reviewers suggested I use a second name as well as Elizabeth, I thought back to an old nickname I was given as a child, I think it’s rather amusing! Anyway, over the past year I’ve been working on my live performances and have been doing as many gigs as possible throughout London. Although my microphone ‘chat’ still leaves a lot to be desired, I’m beginning to get really confident on stage and belt out a decent set. I’m finally beginning to establish myself on the London gig circuit and gather a following. On the 15th of May my first single, Laura’s Diary is going to be released on my own label ’spit records’. This is really exciting as it means it is chart eligible. I’m going to be following up the single with an album release in September 08. I’ll be working ...
Introduction to Benjamin Hawkes
2008-01-20 17:25:15
‘Hi there, I’m Ben. I left school at the age of 16 to create a work experience resource, www.myworkexp.com. As the majority shareholder in the company, I’m often meeting lots of new people, attending interesting events and making my own, original impact on the world. I hope this blog will in some small way inspire you all to do the same. I would like to see this venture grow, then launch other ideas I have into the marketplace. My ambition is to be a serial entrepreneur who has only ever had to work for me. Here you can expect a detailed summary of my experiences to date, and the lessons learned as a result. Thanks Benjamin, www.myworkexp.com. In 2007 Ben was featured in our Spotlight Section on the Talented Young People website and you can view his feature by going to: http://www.talentedyoungpeople.com/profiles/index.php?page=article&id=44 ...
Introduction to Charlotte Louise Stannett
2008-01-20 17:22:01
So far since the summer I have been doing gigs with a couple of bands that I am part of. The first one being a trio, we call ourselves ‘Askin’ Ella’ and we concentrate on doing covers. We play in Pubs where and when we can, and have been lucky enough to earn a little from this. We do make sure that each of us at least gets to play a few of our own songs so that the audience can see that we also write and play our own material. However, playing in this environment covers are a better option as the songs generally go down well with the audience as it’s something they are more familiar with. The other band I am in is called ‘Peershaped’. We have done quite a few church gigs, but again we also go around doing covers. The last gig we played at was at a Salvation Army Church for a Youth Event. I enjoy being in both bands as they offer something slightly different and we get to play to varied audiences. As for my career plans, I have been working on a new E.P. which I am very ex ...
Introduction to Annalese Thorp
2008-01-20 17:17:46
Hi everyone, my name is Annalese and I’m a 19 year old, British female racing driver from Liverpool! Just a brief career history about me; I started out in rallying, by chance, five years ago and loved it! I then, again by chance, got into karting, won lots of races, got lots of podiums and won two championships. When I was 17, I moved into car racing, firstly gaining my National Racing Licence, and then started testing for various championships in a mix of GTs, Touring and Sports categories. Aged 18, I struggled to find the sponsorship to compete nationally in single seaters in the Formula Renault BARC championship but I did get asked to drive for Citroen/Whizzgo in the Manufacturers League, which we won so it wasn’t too bad in 2007! Also my racing efforts and achievements didn’t go unnoticed as I was offered a place at the elite Race Drivers Academy on the degree programme lasting 3-4 years. Only three of us were accepted in 2007 and I am the only female driver. The academy pr ...
Introduction to Priscilla Masala
2008-01-20 17:14:15
Hey Everyone!! I’m pretty excited about my first blog because it’s where I can update you all about my music and give you an insider of what I do. I want to first introduce myself to you all my names Priscilla and I am a singer/songwriter. I’m 14 years old from North London and I have a BIG passion for music and I want to pursue a professional career in singing. I started singing when I was the age of 7 from there I knew this was something I wanted to do and something I believed I could do very well, so I took my time and money to start going to different performing clubs and having small singing lessons and doing everything I possibly could do to have experience and learn more about singing and different types of music. Practice practice practice is always what I’ve been told makes it near to perfect. The more I got older the more I took it to different levels like going to the recording studio and getting songs together and learning about vocal ranges and studio ...
