Charity Poker Tournament News
2008-02-03 08:53:40
Just wanted to let everyone know the outcome for the 5Th Street Charity Ball yesterday . We had 68 players show up to help the Make a Wish Foundation and we raised $136.00 for the children . That may not sound like a lot of money , but through the months the money does add up . I hope to soon be getting the total amount raised to date . I do want to congratulate one Micky08 who won the game . Wear that new accolade with pride .I got busted out fairly early myself when I was dealt the hooks. The blinds were at 20 and I raised to 100 and had one caller . The flop came K-A-K and I checked , as did the caller . The turn came J giving me my boat.........I'm thinking by this time that the other player might have A-Q or A-J . I push allin , he calls and shows me that he's holding the bullets ! All I could say was well played.........his check at the flop had trapped me like a deer in a set of head lights. We here at the House of Poker Blues have a poll going at the forum as well folk . After ...

The Women's Poker Hall of Fame
2008-01-27 08:17:59
It's been long over due in my opinion , but there are plans for an early February induction of the first four members to the Women's Poker Hall of Fame. The first four ladies who will be inducted are Susie Isaacs, Barbara Enright, Linda Johnson and Marsha Waggoner. Congratulations ladies .Susie Isaacs gained poker fame at the 1996 WSOP when she won her first bracelet in the Ladies stud event. Isaacs has a distinguished career of wins and cashes that span over 20 years in poker .Barbara Enright's career spans over 30 years. She was the first and only lady to ever be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. Some of her poker accomplishments are listed below: Winner, 1986 WSOP Bracelet Ladies Stud Event Winner, 1994 WSOP Bracelet Ladies Stud Event Fifth place, 1995 WSOP Main Event – (first woman to make ME final table) Winner 1996 WSOP Pot-Limit Hold'emLinda J ...
My list of Poker Manners / Etiquette
2008-01-24 07:20:20
I've been reading a lot of forums lately and I'm seeing a lot of talk out there about rude and discourteous players . While I know it can be a touchy subject , I'm going to list my opinion on poker etiquette .  1. Be nice -  It is not the dealer’s fault you missed that straight , and it sure ain't Imafish's fault . Don’t yell , swear or laugh at them , instead spend that time thinking of how you might change your game plan to beat them in the long run . Remember that Poker used to be known as a Gentlemens game , lets try and keep it that way......2. Know the basics - Beginners don't need to know every aspect of the game such as odds and outs , but at least know hand rankings and basic play before sitting down with others. Not every hand calls for allin preflop ,do some research and read books to further your knowledge of the game , you'll be glad you did ........3. Get a move on - You might think it's cool to drag ...
Weekend News at the House of Poker - 1/22
2008-01-22 07:06:14
Hello folk . Didn't have a lot that happened at the House of Poker Blues over the weekend other than the league game at Nordica Poker . The league game this past Saturday was pot-limit 7 card stud . It was a small field , only six of us , but what a battle it turned out to be . After two hours of solid play , with just a bit of luck on a couple hands , I managed to win yet another of the league games .There's not but seven games left for this season , and it looks as though I have all but wrapped up the season championship , but that doesn't mean you can't still join the games , we'd love to have everyone come out and play . The games are played on a friendly manner and is some very solid poker for the most part . It's also a good way to learn the different poker games at a low cost , only $2.20 buy-ins . We still have some 5 card draw and 7 card stud along with hold'em left to play . Other than that , I just been spending the weekend helping out with the new grandson . Tha ...
Democrats stand with online gambling .
2008-01-20 08:42:33
I thought I'd post what the top three Democrats stand with online gambling is . As far as I know it's pretty much a washout with the Republicans. I've heard McCain , Huckabee and Romney all say that they don't see how the internet could ever be regulated....First off we have Edwards . I like Edwards and where he stands on most issues, but he does oppose legalization of online gambling and doubts that it can be controlled. Well Mr. Edwards , I'm sorry to say that that alone has cost you my vote . You and the other two are almost the same on every issue but this , so you will not be getting a vote from me . I'll never understand how online porn can be legal , but not gambling....Second we have Obama . Obama is a poker player himself and admits that he likes a good cash game .  Obama says he worries that the Internet is “a Wild West of illegal activity”. He supports a study of Internet gambling and supports regulation to address the worst abuses. Mr. Obama , thank y ...

Chatting with Dr. Snoop
2008-01-17 06:36:01
This is an old interview that I had done with Shane aka Dr Snoop , but I thought that some would maybe like it here on the new House of Poker Blues .Today we have with us Shane from Australia and is part of the staff at Carbon Poker . At Carbon he looks after all the fixed price advertising,  as well as the Carbon Poker blog. He also designs all their merchandise and sometimes write content for the website . (and is now my affiliate manager for the site)1. First off Shane, most of us know that Carbon hasn't been around that long , but has taken off quite well . When and how did you come about working for the site ?I actually got the job through a friend who worked there, they liked what I did so they offered me a position with the company.2. I hear tell that one of your favorite programs on the tube is the "Iron Chef " . Do you consider yourself a pretty mean cook , and what do you enjoy whipping up the most ?Kangaroo on the BBQ with some rosemary - can't go wrong eati ...
Behaviour at the poker table
2008-01-16 04:00:47
Do you feel that some poker players cross the line at the tables ?Do tou think poker players should stay seated at the table at all times until the hand has finished ?There are several points that could be argued about poker etiquette at the tables and the one thing I am against is a player getting up from the table and walking away when he/she is all in, but that's just one of my points of discussion. It would be interesting to see some further comments from readers of this blog to what they might like or dislike with regards to players antics at the felt.I bring this subject up after reading a news article  regarding Shane Warne, Aussie professional world cricket  star turned poker player who was given a 5 minute penalty during the Aussie millions 2008 qualifier for sending a text message on his mobile phone during the game.If you you would like a chance to win a seat to the next Aussie Millions just click Iron Duke Poker .Does this seem a fair penalty ? Should this penalty ...
Online Poker tournament lets Marine pay tuition bill
2008-01-10 08:57:16
I was just reading a feel good story this morning about  Shippensburg University’s Josh Froment. Josh Froment is a Marine that will be going to Iraq soon and likes to play online poker ....he sounds like a right smart feller , but he was having problems paying his tuition bill for college . Josh had took out loans and obtained credit cards to get through school. And the strategy backfired: The credit card payments multiplied and other expenses, such as rent, utilities and groceries, began to take their toll as well. He had to drop out of college and went to work full time at the local Wal-Mart....“I was at the point where I was paying $350 a month on credit cards alone,” Froment said. “The $600 I was making every two weeks, that just paid all the bills. I lived paycheck to paycheck and lived off ramen noodles.” Seems like about this time Josh got his start playing online poker in freerolls . He won 9 bucks in one and says , “From there, I used t ...
Walker Poker - Great poker room for U.S. players too !
2008-01-03 11:42:34
If you are looking for another great poker room to play , I have found just the room . The site is U.S.A. friendly and does have what I consider to be the best option to fund your gaming available , epassporte . The site is Walker Poker and has an average player base of 3000 to 4000 online at any given time . They have what I consider to be the best skin and  some of coolest features of any site you can find , like rabbit hunting .Rabbit hunting is exposing the top cards of the deck at the online poker room to see which cards would have shown up next, and check whether they would have won if you had kept playing the hand. This might be applied in case of a hand won before dealing the river or turn card because all other players have folded.  At Walker Poker they let the winner choose, so when you win a hand before showdown you can chose weather to rabbit and show your opponents your bluff , or that they were right to fold. The only price is that you will need to show your h ...
Promoting Doyles Room Once Again
2007-12-30 09:16:21
Yep , you've read correctly . The House of Poker is now promoting Doyles Room . When they pulled out of the U.S. market after the UIGEA law came about I had pretty much washed my hands of them till I could find out all the whys and what nots . I guess you could say I was a might upset with the whole thing to say the least . Doyles Room turned into something of a drama story following the introduction of the UIGEA when sites on the tribeca network were no longer open to American players. Without a doubt Doyles Room wanted to remain open to U.S. players , so when the Tribeca Network was sold to the iPoker Network , which is closed to the U.S.A. , they were left in limbo looking for a U.S. friendly network.   After quite a spell the room finally settled on the Microgaming Network for its new home. Doyles Room will now benefit from increased traffic at the network which boasts quite the list of tournaments and ring games to play . Another thing I really like about the site ...
