I ran across this video on youtube and even tho it's low budget, I could hear the catchiness in the song and see what these kids were doin! This is the Yay Area Yungs, The Trunk Boiz. Whether we like it or not, this is what the kids on the block are fuckin with, plain and simple, the kids can relate to it. Nowadays kids want to dance and have fun, they're not ballin' out of control, or makin' it rain in the local strip club as most of the rappers now tend to try to make everybody believe... Songs such as this, "Vans" by The Pack, to the "Chicken Noodle Soup" & "Aunt Jackie" records on the East should be an inclination of todays record buying consumer. **Throwback Thurdays is in full effect**The Liks are one of the best groups to do it out the West Coast, alondside The Dogg Pound, period! Tash, J-Ro & E-Swift were one of those "middle-ground" groups... not really back pack, not gangster, but still "nigger-ish". The Liks just had a chemistry & energy between them that was undeniable. Tash, was the standout of the group, the most vocal & active, J-Ro the perfect back-up man to Tash's hi-jinx & E-Swift the DJ/Producer who would step out once in a while with bars of his own!The Compton OG, King T (the T stands for Tipsy) brought The Liks to the game, and they turned around and introduced Xzibit. I remember first hearing The Liks, King T & Xzibit on the Wake-Up show freestyling, going back and forth, just clowing on the airwaves! Classic, nostalgic west coast hip-hop at it's best!
