The First Cyberwar? Groundzero: Estonia
2007-06-02 03:32:00
The attackers used a giant network of bots, perhaps as many as 1 million computers in places as far away as the U.S. and Vietnam — to amplify the impact of their assault. In a sign of their financial resources, there is evidence that they rented time on other so-called botnets. The 10 largest assaults blasted streams of 90 Mbit/s for 10 hours eachread more | digg story

Stephen Colbert makes play for iPhone at D5
2007-06-02 00:06:00
For most of us, having Steve Jobs' direct attention is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (well, actually, it's a never-in-a-lifetime event for the overwhelming majority of the populace, but stay with us here). Stephen Colbert got his this week, introducing Viacom CEO Phillipe Dauman via video clip at D5. Jobs was, of course, a big player at D, and Colbert did his best to take advantage by suggesting that a gratis iPhone in his pocket -- followed by a mention on his show -- might be just the trick to spurring sales (notice that he's ogling an imaginary iPhone in this screen grab). We suspect the effort was for naught; iPhones are as scarce now as they've ever been, never mind the fact that the media has generated pretty much all the buzz Apple can handle free of charge. Might we suggest working a company that's a little less stingy with prerelease units, Stephen?read more | digg story

Increse Volume of iPod
2007-04-25 04:33:00
With many external devices, the standard iPod volume is not loud enough. Here are the tricks that you can use to increase the output volume. Two major ways exist for increasing the iPod volume. There are advantages and risks to each way.First, you can increase the volume of the song through iTunes: - Open iTunes. - Select Library. - Select a song or songs. (Ctrl+A for all.) - Right click and select Get Info. (If a prompted to edit multiple items, select Yes) - Navigate to Volume Adjustment at the bottom. - Move the arrow upward toward +100% - Click OK. - Sync your iPod.This is an easy way to increase the volume of an individual song or multiple songs. However, this will frequently increase distortion. This makes the song "hotter" but doesn't actually increase the volume coming out of the iPod.Most software that you can download that will increase your iPod volume works through this matter as well. The one piece of software that works well is goPod. ...

Create your own Mobile Blog
1969-12-31 17:59:59
Create Your Own Mobile BlogTested on: Windows Mobile powered Smartphone First, what's a moblog? A moblog, or a mobile blog, is an online record of anything you feel like sharing with the world, whether they want it or not. The difference between moblogging and regular blogging is that you use your phone or Pocket PC to post text or pictures. There are obvious advantages to this. If you get inspired in the middle of a meadow, at your favorite local watering hole, or on a road trip, you won't have to wait until you can get back to your desktop to send your thoughts and photos to the world. Though moblogging isn't new, it has been gaining popularity and attention, though I don't think the uses of it have been fully explored. It seems a perfect way, for instance, for a real estate agent to show new properties to clients. I've been looking around for a house lately, and I'm frustrated by the lack of pictures on real estate sites. If an agent had a mobile blog, she could take pictures ...

Car Buying tips

Step 1 - Determining a fair priceBefore you do anything else, you need to determine what a realistic, fair price is to pay for the vehicle that you want. We have created a free spreadsheet for you to use to figure this out. Just click here to download the spreadsheet. In order to figure out the fair price, you will need the invoice pricing for the vehicle. There are two places to get invoice pricing. FightingChance sells a package (for $35) that includes the invoice pricing data as well as other valuable information like current dealer inventories and deals that other's have gotten. Although they charge you $35.00, the money you spend can end up saving you $1000's. Edmunds has invoice pricing available for free but from experience, it does not seem to be as accurate as FightingChance. Recently a friend of mine bought the fighting chance package (and saved $3200 off MSRP) on a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche. The FightingChance data was perfectly accurate and his spreadsheet calculated t ...

Home Buying Tips
1969-12-31 17:59:59
Before you buy a house, call around and see if a local community agency offers a course on home ownership. If so, take it; you won?t regret it. Don?t allow yourself to be pressured by the seller or the real estate agent. Take your time. Make a list of the positive reasons for buying the house. Make a list of the negative reasons for buying the house. This is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Don?t make it too quickly. An appraisal report tells you the market value of a property. Get your own certified appraiser to prepare an appraisal report for you. You should be able to get an appraisal report for about $175 and it?s worth it. Don?t simply accept the appraisal provided the lender who gives you a mortgage. If you can?t afford an appraisal, go to the County Clerk?s Office and research what homes have been selling for in the neighborhood. Or call a real estate agent and ask what homes have been selling for in the neighborhood. In addition, your local librarian may ...

I download a lot of software. Most of the time, everything just works. I click when the dialog box says click, and there's no problem. Other times, the file 'disappears' or it's a cabinet file, usually called a .CAB file. Though .CAB files generally install without a problem, there's the occasional one that needs tweaking. Sometimes I'm not sure if it can go on my storage card or how to remove it. I've gathered together some tips to help you find, install, and remove applications. For more logon to http://tipzntrikz.blogspot.com ...

google Tips

Here are some search syntax basics and advanced tricks for Google.com. You might know most of these, but if you spot a new one, it may come in handy in future searches. A quote/ phrase search can be written with both quotations ["like this"] as well as a minus in-between words, [like-this].Google didn?t always understand certain special characters like [#], but now they do; a search for [C#], for example, yields meaningful results (a few years ago, it didn?t). This doesn?t mean you can use just any character; e.g. entering [t.] and [t-] and [t^] will always return the same results.Google allows 32 words within the search query (some years ago, only up to 10 were used, and Google ignored subsequent words). You rarely will need so many words in a single query ? [just thinking of such a long query is a hard thing to do, as this query with twenty words shows] ? however, it can come in handy for advanced searching... especially as a developer using the Google API.You can find synonyms of w ...
