Race Opens Business Opportunities Theory
2007-08-09 09:08:00
Companies that engage in niche marketing often develop hardcore followers of their products. In the past when a company marketed to either the African American community or the Hispanic community they were engaged in niche marketing. Caucasians were seen as the largest racial group in the U.S. and most companies like IBM, McDonalds and Ford marketed primarily to them. Companies may be forced to focus on a single demographic background as other racial groups grow in size. Imagine the United States with 30% Caucasian, 30% African American, 30% Hispanic and 10% other. In such an environment it will be difficult for advertisers and marketers to try and serve all three masters at the same time. They will have difficulty developing advertisements to appeal to all three backgrounds and it will likely be too expensive to run three different sets of national advertisements. Thus companies may have to choose their demographic background to market to and in turn open up new opportunities for comp ...

Making Your Self Stand Out in an Interview
2007-08-08 14:35:00
Good paying jobs aren’t always easy to obtain. When you go to an interview you hope that the employment manager will see your better qualities and offer you the position. You also know that there are about 100 other applicants waiting to get hired and you are going to have to make yourself stand out somehow. This is difficult if you also don’t want to risk losing the opportunity because of your unconventional nature. Making your self stand out in an interview isn’t about wearing a purple suit and telling a lot of lies about yourself. You know that you were never the CEO of Apple Computer so don’t bother trying to make it up. The employment manager has probably heard all these silly stories before and will likely be unimpressed. Even worse, he will probably think you’re an idiot. If you want to stand out in an interview then be the perfect candidate for the position. You have to understand the psychology of the interviewing manager. He or she has to spend great amount of time ...

Online Media Should Expect More Revenue
2007-08-08 12:41:00
How America gets its news is changing quickly. No longer are people confined to the crinkly old newspapers that pile up in the corners of their homes. Many Americans are getting their news online from both traditional and non-traditional media companies. Many Americans aren’t bothering to read the stale old opinions of large news conglomerates and prefer opinionated small start-ups. VSS and PQMedia teamed up to conduct a comprehensive study of how and where people spend their time using media. The Internet is the overall winner as it keeps growing each and every year. This year 5.1% of people spend their time on the internet while newspapers and recorded music each moved down to 4.9%.People are beginning to love the internet and spend a greater proportion of their time on it instead of reading newspapers, attending movies, listening to music or any other media activities. In lieu of going out people now stay home and browse the internet. Digital marketing is becoming big business.Pre ...

Effective Ways of Destroying Employee Morale
2007-08-08 10:35:00
Some companies have motivated employees that help the organization grow by working hard and cutting out efficiencies. Other companies have poorly motivated employees who waste time, work slowly and have a hard time getting to work. Many managers might assume that this lack of motivation is due to the actions of the employees but it might be due to the organization’s compensation design and employment structure. Perhaps you want your workplace to resemble something more like a prison than a business in the 21st Century. In this case you will find these reverse tips useful1.) The Federal Government is Complacent in the Battle to Improve the American Economy
2007-08-08 09:14:00
The American economy isn’t sailing forward at full speed nor is it falling back on its heels. Instead it is in a lukewarm middle and many economists and industry leaders are concerned what this stagnation means. As they sit and wait the Federal Government makes decisions on national interest rates that could have a profound affect on the national economy.Interest rates and the economy have always been tied together. The Federal Government may raise these interest rates to slow down the economy or lower them to increase the economy. As a general rule the lower the cost of borrowing money the more companies are willing to take loans to purchase new equipment, expand operations and hire more people.Despite a major decline in the mortgage lending industry and high volatility of the market the Federal Government has kept interest rates the same. Steven Woods from Insight Economics stated, “The Fed threw the markets a bone, commenting on recent market volatility and tighter credit condit ...

Attitude and Customer Service: Fixing Your Customer Contacts
2007-08-07 14:43:00
If you have ever talked to a customer service representative with a “snotty” attitude you know how frustrating it can be to be treated poorly. You are their customer but they don’t seem to really care. What you are to them is more of an annoyance as they try and earn their hourly wage. The least amount of work they can do the better off they are. If you’re a company the worst thing you can do is hire people with poor customer service skills. Unfortunately, since many executives view customer service as an entry level job they don’t hire the right employees. They are more concerned with filling vacancies than doing anything else. Treat your customer service representatives as important components to your business strategy. Pay them a living wage, allow for growth opportunities and give them the power to do their jobs well. If you treat them like entry level employees they will treat your customers the same way. Before you can let your customer service representatives lose to g ...

Your Business Should be Your Personal Jihad and Crusade!
2007-08-07 13:19:00
Depending on your religion you might want to use the term Jihad, Crusade or any other appropriate term to describe the passion that you have to succeed. If you don’t devote your life to this higher calling it is doubtful that you will make much success out of it. Succeeding in business is much more than simply putting a name on a business card and passing it out to your friends.Succeeding is about having the motivation to get up each morning and move closer to your goals. No matter if you are tired, frustrated or poor you have the passion to keep working day in and day out to achieve success. You don’t get distracted by all of life’s useless pursuits. You know what you want and you will achieve it; even if it kills you. Nothing could slow you down or take you away from your pursuits.Donald Trump said, “Money was never a big motivation for me, except as a way to keep score. The real excitement is playing the game.” You love the up’s and down’s of playing the game of gettin ...

2007-08-07 12:40:00
When we were youngsters we pushed our heads in the pillows to watch the original Halloween the movie. As the pumpkin’s face burns into our memory we shiver in our fear. One of the first great horror movies was Halloween. Michael Myers comes back to Haddonfield and Dr. Loomis traces him back to Michael’s hometown but it is too late for a number of people. Dr. Loomis, Michael Myer’s psychiatrist, has been working with him ever since 1963 when at 6 years old Michael murdered his sister after she had sex with her boyfriend. Even after his escape and murder spree he still waits for his time to strike again. The remake of the 1978 classic by Rob Zombie is sure to be an excellent treat for both new and old audiences alike. Halloween the movie which will be released around August 31st will be unlike the original version. It will be more scary, more psychological and definitely more of a thriller. Director Zombie states, “I’ve added a lot more to it, and I've tried to make everything ...

Death to All Salesmen!
2007-08-07 12:32:00
“Death to all salesmen!” is a concept which means that companies should no longer simply look to make a quick sale but should learn how develop lasting relationships with their customers. In other words, the whole concept of sales needs to be thrown out and replaced with a new model of professional partnership. The image of the sharply dressed salesperson toting the great miracle qualities of elixir is long gone. Business customers have become savvier and are able to see through all the product hype. Instead they want real numbers and real solutions to their problems. No longer will they accept the selfish sale made by an egotistical sales person who couldn’t care less if the product actually does any good.Strong customer relationships mean that the salesperson and the customer have a deeper understanding of the issues at hand. The salesperson attempts to understand his or her customer’s business and provide meaningful solutions. They become partners with the business and root f ...
