Black Friday & Cyber Monday
2007-11-27 22:31:55
Although all indications are Black Friday and Cyber Monday have teamed up to get this year’s holiday shopping season off with a proverbial bang, most economists and analysts are predicting a pretty significant hangover as banks take a hard look at credit debt issues and begin tightening the belts on some of those low and no interest credit card rates. Add the growing oil speculation issues and you’ve got an economy on the brink of recession. CNN Money Reports that although the season got off to a flying start there is growing concern that a hangover is looming. The speculative nature of oil, coupled with some major economic issues of concern, have to lead the naysayers down this path I guess. Yet, it’s difficult to fathom why such factors would culminate now in some kind of Christmas shopping season hangover. Not a dooms day guy generally, I think this is overly pessimistic given that most of these economic principles have been in the mix for some time. Don& ...

Google Grabbing Renewable Energy Craze
2007-11-27 20:42:03
I think some of the discussion regarding Google’s decision to jump into the renewable energy mix is a bit unfair. Analysts worry that this is just another example of Google stretching itself too thin and losing it’s focus. I guess I would have to argue what evidence is there to suggest Google can’t do whatever the heck it wants? They’ve been interested in this topic easily since 2004 so this isn’t just a passing fad or desire to get into a popular niche. There are some core principles and fundamental driving forces behind the move and clearly, when moving forward in just about anything this company tackles, success follows in waves. Another One Bites The Dust
2007-11-26 11:01:52
Well I’ve officially swore off Traffic Exchanges one more time. Been there, done that. Too much time for very little reward and no, I don’t need some TE Owner’s version of “how to do traffic exchanges.” Read em all. Bottom line for me is you simply aren’t getting much bang for the proverbial buck (even if upgraded). And, though this isn’t by any means a given, I’m not convinced Google doesn’t punish you for such activity. Having been in business for a while now I can tell you that it costs a ton to advertise and in many cases you don’t recoup that. It’s just the facts. However, there are lots of ways to advertise. Most cost you some money but can be worth the scratch. Many are ineffective and don’t merit consideration. I’m of the growing opinion this now includes the Traffic Exchange industry. Most all these TE Owners will admit it to ya if cornered, that it’s just a list for them. Whatev ...
Sean Taylor Shot At His Home
2007-11-26 09:59:03
There’s likely to be a whole lot more to this story when lips loosen up but for now it’s just what it is….UGLY blogtommy Sadly the addendum to this story is not good. Sean Taylor has died. Another young athlete taken by senseless violence. Mr. Taylor died early Tuesday morning having never regained consciousness following a gun shot wound to the leg/groin area. Blogtommy ShareThis ...

Fantasy Football & Business
2007-11-24 11:16:24
Well the scale is telling me that Thanksgiving is over. Apparently it’s something that will live on with me for a while. Couldn’t have been the extra gravy and mashed spuds. Nahhh…Wasn’t those guys. Some may recall that I’m a fantasy football nut. Have been for years. I’m a football nut in general but as soon as it became a competitive internet kinda thing…oh boy howdy!! My wife says I watch more of the game on the computer than the 55 inch big screen and whereas that may be close, I’ll be asking for a review from the booth on that one. Too close to call. In any event, football (well any sport really) can inspire and guide the business types as well. I spend lots of time considering the future scenarios when playing fantasy football. I once had a HS baseball coach that grilled this concept into me. Consider every possibility prior to the play (EVERY PLAY). Consider the options and what you’re going to do ahead of time ...

Some Hosts Barred
2007-11-22 23:22:29
What a Turkey Day! Stuffed to say the least. I’m blessed in so many ways to be able to spend a wonderful day with friends, family, food and FOOTBALL! It doesn’t get much better than this…errr….or does it? For the loyal amongst you, you’re aware that this week (I know nice timing Tommy) we moved lock, stock and barrel to a new host. Now that's not really the point of this post. As you're well aware, I'm not much of a computer guru....Ok...Not AT ALL ONE. That's cool. Well it is until you need to move and would like to keep the remnants of your past life. SEO stuff has always been one of those topics I kinda allow in one ear and out the other for a variety of reasons, but chief amongst them is the relative fickle nature of the king of search engines, Google. They change the rules just about as often as I do underwear which leads me to question the whole value and worth in building SEO cred. That being said, Google's not the only dog on the bl ...

When Adults Act Worse Than Children
2007-11-15 15:39:29
In adulthood, and probably some time before such a thing occurred, to the extent that it has in my case, we’ve become familiar with a phrase, term or commonly held belief that “children can be very mean.”  We hark back to our middle school years or see neighborhood kids of that age say, and do some pretty hurtful, spiteful things.  Yet we accept it for what it is, for the most part.  However, when adults take on a role as occurred here, most will no doubt feel the anger rise from within.  I’m not sure what caught my attention about the story (perhaps a same last name spelling as your’s truly) caused me to pause, but I’m disgusted with it to say the least.  I’ll let you draw your own conclusions and call this a wrap for today. If ya missed the link, HERE IT IS again.  Click it and be prepared for the emotion likely to follow. ...
