Single Handle Every Task
2007-02-27 14:40:32
Single Handle Every Task By: Brian Tracy Eat that frog! Every bit of planning, prioritizing and organizing comes down to this simple concept. Your ability to select your most important task, to begin it and then to concentrate on it single mindedly until it is complete is the key to high levels of performance and personal productivity. The Requirement for Every Great Achievement Every great achievement of mankind has been preceded by a long period of hard, concentrated work until the job was done. Single handling requires that once you begin, you keep working at the task, without diversion or distraction, until the job is 100% complete. You keep urging yourself onward by repeating the words "Back to work!" over and over whenever you are tempted to stop or do something else. Reduce Your Time By 50% By concentrating single mindedly on your most important task, you can reduce the time required to complete it by 50% or more. It has been estimated that the tendency to st ...
Focus On Key Result Atras

The Key Question For You to Ask Why are you on the payroll? This is one of the most important questions you ever ask and answer, over and over again, throughout your career. As it happens, most people are not sure exactly why they are on the payroll. But if you are not crystal clear about why it is that you are on the payroll and what results you have been hired to accomplish, it is very hard for you to perform at your best and get paid more and promoted faster. Determine the Results Expected of You In its simplest terms, you have been hired to get specific results. A wage or a salary is a payment for a specific quality and quantity of work that can be combined with the work of others to create a product or service that customers are willing to pay for. Define Your Key Result Areas Each job can be broken down into about five to seven key result areas, seldom more. These are the results that you absolutely, positively have to get to fulfill your responsibilities and make your maximum ...

The Happiest Day Of My Life!
2007-02-24 12:00:00
The Happiest Day Of My Life Written by Michael T. Smith It started innocently. Many years ago I worked in an office with large windows facing a busy overpass. I was standing by one of those windows one day when a woman in a passing car looked up and made eye contact. Naturally, I waved. A chuckle escaped my lips as she turned and tried to identify me. It was the beginning of a year of window antics. When things were slow, I would stand in the window and wave at the passengers who looked up. The strange looks made me laugh and stress was washed away. Co-workers began to take an interest. They would stand from view, watch the reactions I received, and laugh along. Late afternoon was the best time - rush hour traffic filled the overpass with cars and transit buses, and providing lots of waving material for the end-of-day routine. It didn't take long to attract a following - a group of commuters who passed the window every day and looked up at the strange waving man. There wa ...

When Greeting Card Writers Have a Bad Day My tire was thumping. I thought it was flat. When I looked at the tire, I noticed your cat. Sorry! Heard your wife left you; How upset you must be. But don't fret about it... She moved in with me. Looking back over the years That we've been together, I can't help but wonder... What was I thinking??!! Congratulations on your wedding day! (Too bad no one likes your spouse.) How could two people as beautiful as you... Have such an ugly baby??? I've always wanted to have someone to hold, someone to love. After having met you, I've changed my mind. I must admit, you brought religion into my life... I never believed in Hell till I met you. You'll probably need it again. Someday I hope to get married... But not to you. Happy Birthday! You look gre ...

S"Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success." -- Napoleon Hill (1883-1970) James Kurtz said, "If we worry, we don't trust; if we trust, we don't worry. Worry does not empty tomorrow of its grief, but it does empty today of its joy." People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them. -- George Bernard Shaw "A pessimist mourns the future." ? A sales rep, an administration clerk and their manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a genie comes out in a puff of smoke. The genie says, "I usually only grant three wishes, so I'll give each of you just one." "Me first! Me first!" says the admin clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world." Poof! She's gone. In astonishment, "Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse and the love of my life." Poof! He's gone. "Okay, you're up," the genie says to the manager. The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch." Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.:-)<:))))><< ...
The Law Of Priorities
2007-02-15 12:00:00
The Law of Priorities By: Brian Tracy The very worst use of your time is to do well what need not be done at all. The Pareto Principle says that 20% of your activities will account for 80% of the value of your activities. This means that, if you have a list of ten items to accomplish, two of those items will be worth more than the other eight items altogether. To achieve great things, you must always be concentrating on the small number of activities that contribute the greatest value to your life and your work. Determine the Consequences The value of anything in your order of priorities can be measured by assessing the potential consequences of doing it or not doing it. Something that is important has significant consequences to your life and your career. Something that is unimportant has few or no consequences of significance to your life or career. The mark of the superior thinker is your ability to consider possible consequences before you begin. Ask the Key Question Contin ...
