The Economy and Its Relation to Business
When you hear the term economy, the first concepts that might come into your mind might probably include price, money, rates and the market among others. But these subjects might probably be a speck in the convoluted arena of the economy in every country. There are many other factors that can be described a part of the entire economic perspective of the country. These factors can either contribute greatly or insignificantly to the economy at its entirety. Businesses whether sole proprietorships, partnerships, or even gigantic corporations can be directly affected by the direction of the country’s economy. Not only that, these businesses also form a part of the entire country's economy.
Science of the Economy
According to a couple of sources Economics is the science that deals with the production, distribution and consumption of the goods and services which are available in the market. In a larger perspective, economics is composed of two ...

Effective Decision-Making Tips
Decision-making is an important task that will enable an organization to function properly but it is inevitable that some managers may find this task quite daunting because the success of the organization relies on them. They will also encounter the fear of making the wrong decision because so much is at stake. You might wonder though why some managers seem to take the task of decision-making easily and comfortably. In line with this, it is important to realize that these managers know the real importance of decision-making and they have realized a few facts about it. You can understand these concepts too and make effective decisions yourself.
The first thing you need to realize in decision-making is that there is always no right or wrong answer. You might be looking back at the past and thinking that you have made the “wrong” decision. But you need to put things into perspective. Decision is in itself, a choice between two or more alternatives, eve ...

Are You SCARED To Start Your Home-Based Business?

Are You SCARED To Start
Your Home-Based Business?
That is a question worth pondering. Fear is
a two edged sword.
Fear can be good. It keeps troops alive in
combat. In business fear can make you think things through, do the necessary
due diligence, and act decisively. I often tell people I was scared into
success. Fear can also be bad. It can be an inhibitor. It can immobilize as
person as well. A lack of action is the death-knell of a business.
Every year more and more people are
working from home, starting their own businesses. Men and women, even teenagers
are starting their own home-based business ventures. In the last ten years
work-at-home businesses have tripled, according to statistics. I think it's
probably more than that actually.
It's no wonder really why so many people
want to work at home and there are a vast amount of good reasons why.
The costs of traveling, including
vehicle maintenance, the cost of gas, child-care, and the huge cost of
dry-cleaning, are j ...

The Practice of Discipline

The Practice of DisciplineBy: Brian Tracy
Discipline yourself to do what you know you need to do to be the very best in your field. Perhaps the best definition of self discipline is this: "Self discipline is the ability to make yourself do what you should do when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not."
It is easy to do something when you feel like it. It's when you don't feel like it and you force yourself to do it anyway that you move your life and career onto the fast track.
What decisions do you need to make today in order to start moving toward the top of your field? Whatever it is, either to get in or get out, make a decision today and then get started. This single act alone can change the whole direction of your life.
Seven Steps to SuccessThere is a powerful seven step formula that you can use to set and achieve your goals for the rest of your life. Every single successful person uses this formula or some variation of this formula to achieve vastly mo ...

This Was The Week That Was...
2007-08-24 05:00:00
Well, the computer is 95% functional. This is good. The process of getting the computer set up took a lot of time. So the rest of the week has been in catch-up mode. This is not an optimal to run a business, but then, this is not a perfect world...So next week I will be back on a more regular schedule. There will be a couple of posts to the series A Systematic Approach. I have a couple more series in mind that are based on the how-to's of home based business. This is the direction I want this blog to go in. Have a great weekend!

Five Perks to Working for Yourself
Working for yourself can be a big responsibility. Not everyone is up to it and it takes a lot of a hard work and dedication. You must be the kind of person that is self motivated, organized, confidant, and a self starter. Realizing that all your hard work will be put into a start up adventure and you may not see a large profit the first year. With that being said there are some definite perks to working for yourself, here are five of them.
Money makes the world go around and starting your own business working for yourself means you have a greater potential to see more money then if you are working for someone else. Imagine that you work for $10 an hour. The company you work for pays $20 an hour for the cost for you to work plus materials, but the machinery you run produces $60 an hour worth of product. The company just made a profit of $30 an hour on your $10 an hour salary. As the employee you will never see that $30 profit, but as an entrepreneur ...

Effective Communication

Effective Communication
Everyone knows that communication is very important in creating an effective business that can meet and exceed customer’s requirements. In line with this, it is important to understand how communication works and how business owners can effectively communicate with their employees in all levels of the organization.
The first concept you need to understand about communication is that it is basically just a transfer of meaning from the speaker to the receiver but it also goes deeper than that because in order for communication to truly take place, the receiver must understand the meaning of what is being said. There are several ways to communicate with others including verbal, non-verbal, body language, and verbal intonation. In the actual communication with other people you might observe that the person you are talking to is doing one or more of these methods.
Now that you know the basics of how communication takes place, you can apply this basic understand ...

The Value of Moral Courage
2007-08-21 05:00:00
The Value of Moral Courage
Courage is a highly admired
virtue. Most often we associate the word with physical prowess or bravery. But
there's another form of valor that's much more important because it comes up
more often. It's called moral courage - the willingness to face not physical
danger but emotional pain, disapproval, financial insecurity, or uncertainty
rather than compromise an ethical principle.
Moral courage is essential
not only for a virtuous life, but a happy one. Without courage, we have no
control over our lives. Our fears corrode our spirit and confine us like a
barbed wire fence. That's why they say a coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave
man but one.
Integrity is essential to
self-esteem and the admiration of others. It requires us to put our comforts,
possessions, friendships, and even jobs at risk in the defense of deeply held
principles.
It takes moral fortitude to
be honest at the risk of ridicule, rejection, or retaliation or when doing so
may jeopardi ...
