Truckers push for national idling laws
2008-01-03 17:32:00
Interstate truck drivers are clamoring for national rules on how longthey can idle their engines to keep warm or stay cool duringfederally-mandated driving breaks. Truckers say the patchwork of stateand local laws is difficult to follow. The issue challenges state and local regulators, who must protect theair quality of their communities and the safety of truckers deliveringvital goods. "It is the most frustrating scenario you could imagine," says ToddSpencer, executive vice president of the Owner-Operator IndependentDrivers Association, which represents 159,000 truckers and smalltrucking firms. "The federal regulations say a driver must stop tosleep after X number of hours. How many people could sleep in their carwhen it's 96 degrees or 14 below without the engine running?"http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-01-02-idlingtrucks_N.htm ...

SANS Instituteauthor and senior instructor Joshua Wright demonstrates. All that is necessary is knowing the device address, which can beeasily sniffed, and the secret pin, which defaults to 0000. The headsetaudio is tapped while not in a call, so any room conversation theheadset's mic can pick up can potentially be listened to remotely. See The Video here ...
