Autorun Eater v2.1
2008-02-02 13:37:00
Autorun Eater was born due to increase of malwares using the‘autorun.inf’ tactic to infect users unknowingly be it fromflash drives, removable hard disks or any other removable storagedevice. When an infected device is infected with a malware and an‘autorun.inf’ file is dropped, the shell menu is normallymodified to execute the malware whenever the unsuspecting userdouble-clicks the infected drive. Most anti-malware apps out there will almost instantly remove anymalware detected but more often than not they leave the‘autorun.inf’ file behind. And what if the anti-malware appfails to catch the malware? This is where Autorun Eater comes into thepicture. Autorun Eater will remove any suspicious‘autorun.inf’ files even before the user attempts to accessthe drive. This files are auto-backup’ed in case of falsepositives.http://oldmcdonald.wordpress.com/ ...

2008-02-01 23:52:00
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company announced today that it hasadapted its revolutionary self-sealing commercial tire technology on abroader scale for use on long-haul trucks. The new Unisteel G316 LHT line-haul trailer tire featuring DuraSealTechnology allows semi-trucks to continue operating after a tire ispunctured by road debris up to 1/4-inch diameter in the repairabletread area, greatly reducing vehicle downtime and service calls. Thenew tire was introduced here to U.S. and Canadian tire dealers at anannual conference. Already proven in mixed-service applications -- such as logging, construction and mining -- the technology uses a gel-like, solvent-freecompound built into the inner liner of the tire. It consistently andinstantly seals punctures with gel flowing into void areas and aroundobjects less than 1/4-inch in diameter. "The technology transfer into line-haul trucking is significant," saidSteve McClellan, vice president of Goodyear commercial tire systems."DuraSeal in the ...

Phishers use DNS tricks
2008-01-31 09:25:00
Anti-phishing group reports a sharp rise in malware that directs users to DNS servers controlled by phishers. The latest information on phishing indicates that fraudsters are increasingly using malicious software to direct users to their deceptive sites. The Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) said in a new report Thursday that it saw a sharp rise in November in malware that directs users to DNS (Domain Name System) servers controlled by phishers. DNS servers play a crucial role in locating Web sites. The servers translate a domain name into an IP (Internet protocol) address, enabling a Web site to be located and accessed through a browser. Often, the phishers will set up their own DNS server that works fine most of the time but can redirect to their own malicious site. more here ...
