Rent A Car Without Overspending
2008-03-05 23:41:19
Goin’ elsewhere? You may plan to rent a car instead of driving your own. Long destinations make us feel terribly exhausted. So if you want a peace of mind while traveling on a distant land, renting a car could be a nice antidote. MSNBC shares the following car rental tips:1. Shop around online first. Check multiple travel Web sites — such as Travelocity.com, Expedia.com, Priceline.com and Hotwire.com — and get a sense of what’s available. Then check the rental car companies’ Web sites directly to see whether you can snag an even cheaper rate there.2. Do the math. A rate that sounds unbelievably low might not be so low when everything is said and done. Clarify which taxes, surcharges and other fees you’ll be expected to pay and be on the lookout for charges for “extras” you really need.3. Hunt for deals. Always check for weekend discounts or special weekly rates. When shopping online, be alert for little areas where you can enter a “ ...

Toyota Vs. Teen Crashes
2008-03-05 14:36:23
It is no secret that
teenage drivers are more prone to car crashes than any other age group in the
driving world. It is also no secret that car crashes have become the main cause
of death for teenagers. And Toyota
is aiming at a campaign that would help battle this.
According to Toyota, they
are having a new campaign known as “Toyota Driving Expectations” and this
program would be started this year. The Asian car maker believes that with
their new program, they would be able to help lessen the numbers by teaching parents
and teenagers advanced skills in driving. It would not just be a case of
teaching them how to keep their vehicles safe with the proper spark
plug wires or brakes or bumpers or whatever parts.
The whole nation is going
to benefit from this campaign. Aside from the usual driving lessons, Toyota’s
program would also be putting their students right behind the wheel and let
them drive through the various types of situations that one c ...

Cars Are More Affordable Now
2008-02-25 02:54:07
Since 1991, cars are most affordable now. Lower your brows, I am not kidding. Reports say prices of vehicles dropped over 2% in Canada last year. This fact drove affordability to levels not experienced since 1991.DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc. recently reported that it took the equivalent of 18.9 weeks of pretax income to buy a new passenger car in Canada last year, the lowest measure for that reading since 18.5 weeks in 1991. Prices over all dipped to an average of $31,875 - including medium and heavy-duty trucks - from $32,609 in 2006. “Quality, performance, content and design have all improved since 1991. The consumer is winning and winning big," DesRosiers noted."So relative to before-tax income, Canadians paid almost the same for a new vehicle in 2007 as they did in 1991," president of the consulting firm, said in a note to clients. "Not a bad deal, especially since vehicles are vastly superior today from virtually all perspectives."Vehicle discounts came arrive in t ...

'Pimp My Ride' Conquers Another Level
2008-02-11 03:54:12
How does it feel to work at West Coast Customs? Ishmael Jimenez, an upholstery expert has this to say: "It's a lot of pressure. I can make no excuses, because West Coast Customs has a worldwide reputation."If you are one of the fanatics of the MTV show Pimp My Ride, you surely know the prize of fame afforded to West Coast Customs. For four seasons of the MTV show, the auto customization company has worked on the cutting the roof off NBA star Shaquille O'Neal's $145,000 Mercedes-Benz S600 to make it a convertible, perking up skier Bodie Miller's 1992 GMC Typhoon SUV, and more. That means working on highly-respected companies and auto parts. It isn’t confined to Daewoo parts, you know.Ryan Friedlinghaus, the heavily tattooed company CEO, said he yanked the shop's participation because he thought Pimp was too gimmicky with its ugly duckling-to-swan format. Now, he’s singing a new tune. Friedlinghaus said the show was a more realistic portrayal of how a custom car shop rea ...

Environmentalists EPA’s Ruling on Clean Cars
2008-01-03 21:47:31
Environment is taking its toll. And the effects are becoming more and more evident each day. You feel it? I feel it too. And it frightens me. Fright that should not be equated with what I feel when my tie rod end is malfunctioning. Fright not just for myself but for other people as well. This is the reason why I’d like to do everything I could to help the environment. But are government agencies doing what are expected of them? I chanced upon a relevant report early this morning. The report says:Five nonprofit groups filed a lawsuit yesterday challenging the December 19th decision by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to deny California its request to implement its landmark law limiting global warming pollution from new automobiles. The petitioners -- the Conservation Law Foundation, Environmental Defense, International Center for Technology Assessment, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the Sierra Club -- filed the suit in the United States Court of Appeals for ...

2008-01-01 17:48:47
Colored badges. That is the 'in' thing right now in Germany. Well, for their main cities, that is. See, officials of the cities are putting colored badges on the vehicles. Each color of the badge represents the amount of pollution that the vehicle emits to the environment. Now once you get a real polluting vehicle in your hands, you might as well take public transportation for you would not be allowed to enter the cities. No badges mean quite a huge amount as fine. ...
