"Audio Arts is the first and only Art Magazine regulary published on the audio cassette and now constitues a unique international resource and growing sound archive of contemporary art. Every issue of Audio Arts brings its listeners into direct contact with the artists who are making contemporary art and the critical discourse that surrounds it. Rell Ohlson, Crystalline Entity, 2007, gouache & marker (?) on paperRrose Risin', the return of Ken Little's Rrose Amarillo Gallery, opened Friday night with new works and performances by Rell Ohlson, Justin Parr, Bunnyphonic, Leona Scull-Hons, and Ed Saavedra.San Antonio artist, teacher, patron, curator, and musician Ken Little operated the Rrose Amarillo Gallery in his downtown San Antonio warehouse from 1994 to 1999. The new gallery has moved from Ken's apartment downstairs to one of the five large studio spaces upstairs. Two other studios are occupied by artists Claire Little and Connie Lowe, who both had their studios open to visitors Friday night.Ken also gave visitors a tour of his studio, where he is working on a bunch of new pieces for an upcoming show at Finesilver Gallery in Houston. This is Kevin Bewersdorf, and these are a few of his accomplishments:As CEO of GEAR t.e.k. Corporation, he created GFactorX, "a singular and universal protocol variable stimulant which is already enclosed and works without a trace," as well as a range of other products. Watch a GEAR t.e.k. Corporation promotional video below:He created the album Slow Dudes in a series of Berlin sublets using MIDI software and a bunch of his homemade electronic instruments. The entire album is available for free download, and he even offers an uncompressed audio cd if you email him. The cover art is also available for free at full resolution. [cover art] Bewersdorf's homemade instruments include Biff, which is played by using a bic lighter to "melt" the light-sensor "eyes-cubes" in order to "melt the sound" (see image below).
