How to Avoid Illegal Recruitment
2008-01-18 00:11:00
Do not apply at recruitment agencies not licensed by POEA. Do not deal with licensed agencies without job orders. Do not deal with any person who is not an authorized representative of a licensed agency. Do not transact business outside the registered address of the agency. If recruitment is conducted in the province, check if the agency has a provincial recruitment authority. Do not pay more than the allowed placement fee. It should be equivalent to one month salary, exclusive of documentation and processing costs. Do not pay any placement fee unless you have a valid employment contract and an official receipt. Do not be enticed by ads or brochures requiring you to reply to a Post Office (P.O.) Box, and to enclose payment for processing of papers. Do not deal with training centers and travel agencies, which promise overseas employment. Do not accept a tourist visa. Do not deal with fixers. DoLE warns nurses vs excessive fees for NZ jobs
2007-12-18 03:59:00
Nurses looking for jobs in New Zealand, beware! The Labor department issued a warning on Monday against recruiters collecting excessive fees from applicants. Labor Secretary Arturo Brion urged nurses or nursing graduates who have been offered jobs in New Zealand in exchange for exorbitant fees to report these individuals or agencies to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration for the filing of appropriate charges. Reports reaching the Department of Labor and Employment indicate that Filipino nurses offered jobs in New Zealand had to pay between P500,000 and P700,000 to manpower agencies that brokered for their deployment. Upon arrival in New Zealand, the recruited nurses were placed in rest homes for which they were automatically billed 15 percent of their monthly salary. Brion said the Philippine embassy in Wellington, New Zealand received complaints from victims who had been referred to the POEA for the filing of cases against erring agencies. READ THE FULL ST ...
